The inside of this place is beautiful and makes you feel relaxed. It doesn't look big from the front of the restaurant but they have a large dining area and semi private section.
The bone marrow bibimpap is the tastiest I have ever had. It gives it a rich deep flavor.
The wagyu TKG looks really pretty. I think a lot of the other ingredients overpower the flavor of the meat.
Service is really attentive and friendly.
Comfortable atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff. For the typical guest the foods may seem way out there, but in actuality the menu includes select delicacies. Imagine many of your favorite items all done well and available at a single venue! The alarm carte items are on the pricier side considering portions, but that's what one might expect from the get go.
A happy hour is available, as well as lunch sets. You can try them out at lunch and see if you might like to return for dinner another evening.
This new cafe is EXCELLENT value for money. $16 for high quality Japanese lunch set, mid-century modern style aesthetic inside. The food was delicious - both the Vichyssoise and Minestrone soups are bomb, as is the chicken namban and miso broiled salmon. Highly recommend!!!
Food is great. This place is tucked in the corner of a small parking lot. Their bone marrow bibimbap is something I'd recommend. Beef tongue skewers and the uni over roast beef.
Stopped in for a drink while I did laundry at Kapahulu laundromat. At first it seemed their bar knowledge was limited so I settled for Suntory Toki on the rocks. But then they taught me about how shochu + oolong is a typical drink in Japan, so I tried their mamaki lilikoi hi - a nice local interpretation! As a complimentary bar snack, they served chilled summer baby bok choy (literally the coolest complimentary bar snack I've ever been served). There was a mix-up in the kitchen, so they gave me the thick-cut beef tongue (came with a miso-pickled jalapeno instead of the listed pickled Chinese cabbage. A refreshing difference of sweet + heat + salty flavor combo). Would love to come back and give their food a try...and for happy hour!
Tasty traditional Japanese food with nice cuts of fish. Nice atmosphere with great service as well.
Had the bone marrow bibimbap tonight and some Yuri sorbet! Both were delicious! The prices and service were great! Highly recommend!
Great food and really good pupus. The chicken karaage was very delicious and for $5 happy hour it's fantastic
Small boutique restaurant serving Asian fusion modern cuisine with focus on Japanese dishes. I had the bone marrow bibimbap and it was maybe the best I've ever had so far. Service is really good and attentive. Dishes are on the smaller side but the quality is really top notch. Go try it soon.
Great food! My favorite was the bone marrow bi bim bap. It was tasty and crispy since it was served in a hot cast iron pan. The pesto salmon with brichetta was alright, not as tasty as the bi bim bap. The wagyu katsu with demi sauce was crispy and had a nice glaze. Overall the atmosphere was very chic. Diverse menu choices and had a parking lot in front of the store. The prices I would say are around $$.
Truly tasty Japanese and Asian-inspired small plates, great for sharing with family and friends. Yakitori skewers are particularly good, especially the giant Kauai shrimp, grilled just right to bring out the sweetness. Grilled corn is to die for, perfect like breezy Hawaii summer nights. Don't skip the most memorable dish: bone marrow bibimbap, served table-side with every drip of marrow from a giant bone scraped then thoroughly mixed into your bibimbap for you, along with a steaming runny fried egg. Reasonable pricing overall, though the sake pours are on the skimpy side.
Cute Cafe that replaced Wada in the papa John complex on kapahulu. The eight of us were seated immediately upon arrival during lunch. The menu combined semi - fixed items with a couple of choices.
You choose either the Otaku Don with choice of soup or the lunch set, which included two appetizers, choice of soup, entree and grain. Caprese salad and agedashi tofu in mushroom broth comprise the two appetizers. I chose the house made roast beef with grated radish for entree, vichysoise with kauai shrimp for soup and grain rice.
The grated radish contained Wasabi, which I abhor, especially since it burned a hole in my nose. Other than that, the roast beef was easily the best I've ever had. The vichysoise complimented the roast beef perfectly. The others all enjoyed their dishes as well. Most of us finished off the meal with their yuzu sorbet. I love yuzu, nuf said.
Considering what you get, the prices were very reasonable. The decor of wood furniture combined with simple walls provided a background which further enhanced the meal. We enjoyed the high window displaying a gorgeous mountain view without any of the accompanying buildings or vehicles.
I will definitely return to check out their dinner service.
Made it back again tonight and tried the course for two. It was a great deal, the food was delicious as expected and service was great! At the end of the meal we were given disappointing news...it was the last night of service. I'm glad that we decided to go tonight, but sad that I will not be able to dine here again.
Used to be open for lunch but not anymore. Too bad. Unique customizable set menu. Not Japanese food per se but heavy Japanese influence. Had the ribs with sides. Flavorful and with a nice presentation.
Amazingly delicious food! Everything we had (peppers, fish, steak skewers, short ribs, bibimbap, etc) was well prepared and delicious. We'll be back to this place every time we visit Oahu.
Fantastic food, fantastic service. Loved the bone marrow bibimbap and the agedashi tofu.
Very nice food, well prepared, good service and affordable. A bit away from the beach and that much better for it
