It was an amazing experience. The estate is unique not only in Hot Springs but perhaps in the entire North Carolina. The garden is beautiful and when you stay in the middle of it you will see the mountains all around you. You can have a calm and soothing afternoon on the hammocks or relax on the swing. They have great amenities. A very large new TV, a Google Home connected to Apple music, coffee maker, mini fridge, microwave, and more. Highly recommend this place.
Nestled in the mountains, gorgeous and well kept grounds, the Magnolia Inn gave my whole family a sense of peace and reminded us of such beauty.
We stayed in the Garden House and my children played in the grass, rested in the hammock and climbed the massive walnut tree. Both my husband and I and our children so enjoyed the kindness of the staff, attentive but not overbearing and the simplicity of the beautiful grounds. We picked herbs from the herb garden just outside our door and rafted down the river, just steps from the Inn. Upon leaving, we all longed to return.
Truly a magical home and we felt so welcome.
This place is awesome! I stumbled upon it while on a road trip. The rooms are all pretty, unique, and comfortable. There are really beautiful views of the mountains.
The restaurant here is unbelievable. It was one of the best, most unexpected meals in my life. The chef put together a really unforgettable dinner. Very delicious food, at a reasonable price.
We had a fabulous time this weekend. Everyone was very nice and the ambiance was so relaxing. Fortunately, we chose to do the Chef's Table with the wine paring for dinner. What a delight! The food was delicious with the opportunity to try new foods! I would recommend this indulgence to anyone who wants a grand meal in a great setting.
My husband and I got married here February 29th, 2020 and absolutely could not have chosen a better location! We are so thankful to have found Mountain Magnolia Inn. The inn and grounds are absolutely beautiful, and each and every staff member was so friendly and helpful. All of our guests commented on how lovely everyone was, as well as how delicious all the food was, saying they did not expect such a great meal at a wedding!
Planning a wedding here was so easy as mostly everything is included, which we loved, and they were so helpful in their recommendations for anything else you needed. Their wedding planner, Mary Helen, was extremely helpful throughout the planning process and ensured the day of went smoothly!
We fell in love with the arched tree on the grounds and knew we wanted to get married beneath it. Our wedding day (/weekend) was everything we could have imagined and more. We 100% recommend Mountain Magnolia Inn for a wedding, or even just for a visit! We can't wait to return for years to come.
Friends of mine selected this location to hold their wedding, and as a close friend to the family I was privileged enough to be able to stay in the Garden House while the event was going on. Let me say that 5 stars is not enough to rate the experience. The location and setting are top notch and there is plenty to do in the area. The owners and staff went over and above to make sure a good time was had by all. I don't think I heard a single negative thing the entire 5 days we were on site. The staff alone rates at least 10 stars. Truly professional and some of the nicest people you will ever meet. Whether you are looking for a destination wedding venue or a weekend getaway, you won't be disappointed. Thank you for such a fantastic time!
My husband and I were married here a few weeks ago and it was a wonderful experience, from beginning to end! (Note: we planned the whole event in 2 weeks). Mary Helen was incredibly easy to work with and willing to offer suggestions, make changes as needed, and just go above and beyond to make the wedding a magical experience for all of us. This Inn is absolutely beautiful, inside and out. It's tucked away and just felt like a hidden treasure. You will not be disappointed.
Very elegant and traditional as you look out on the grounds through big windows in 2 formal dining rooms and 1 outside covered porch area. I had the bass with sauteed asparagus and sweet potato mash. The service was excellent and their wine selection had a good variety. If you pass through Hot Springs, NC please call and make reservations here. You will love the food.
Wonderful establishment, right in the middle of nowhere. The mountain magnolia sits in a town that primarily serves as a stop for hikers on the Appalachian trail. There are lots of inns throughout the tiny town. The French Broad river is a short walk from the magnolia, and it's gorgeous!
As for the magnolia itself, it was lovely. The grounds were gorgeous - pretty gardens with a beautiful mountain view in the background. It's very quiet and peaceful. There's a hammock outside, along with lots of other inviting places to rest. And they have this adorable white kitty! His name is Casper, and you should be nice to him and give him lots of pets.
We were only at the magnolia for dinner. We got reservations for the Chef's table, which is a five course meal, and the Chef, Tom, designs a menu just for you! (Well, the TWO of you, since this is for two people). After you call and make reservations, they send you a Google doc to fill out your preferences. All the food was amazing... There was not one thing I did not enjoy. And honestly, for five courses, you're not going to get a better deal. I have only one complaint - we were never given a steak knife. But honestly I don't care. I've never had food THAT good. And the pistachio truffles that were served with dessert were a perfect way to finish off the meal. The server, while new, did a great job.
If you feel up to it, give this place a try! Even if it's a ways away, the beautiful drive in itself is worth it.
We dinned here while staying a few nights in Hot Springs. The food was excellent! On the level you would expect from a big city. Most other restaurants in the area are very casual, I would recommend a collared shirt for men, jeans are still except able. We called for reservations, and they asked if we had any allegories to make the chef aware of. The grounds were well maintained and worth taking time for to stroll through. If your looking for a fine meal this is the place, enjoy! The shot rib was perfect!!
Only went for dinner (did not stay):
Unique menu, you can tell the chef truly enjoys cooking. Portions where large, certainly was full after the meal. Prices really were not that bad for secluded upscale dining.
Only complaint was I ordered steak medium and felt it was closer to well. The steak itself was tasty enough that I didn't complain/bring-up with staff.
The facilities and location are stunning. You could not ask for more beautiful photos because of the setting. The staff is very nice and accommodating. The food is excellent. You get the whole place to yourself. Our friends and family enjoyed the lovely inn and grounds during their stay. The only mixed review we have is for their wedding coordinator. She started off really strong and put us at ease during our early conversations. She seemed knowledgeable and experienced. We were led to believe that certain things would be taken care of that weren’t. We scheduled multiple meetings prior to the wedding to discuss our plan and vision for the weekend, but she continually forgot the details we told her. Despite our preparations, our equipment rental order was submitted two weeks before the wedding (even though we had sent it to her two months prior). This put us in an unnecessary bin, scrounging for place settings and tents (the rental company, Classic Rentals, saved the day). Our wedding rehearsal was about 10 minutes long, which surprised even our preacher, and which led to some hiccups during the ceremony. The Wedding Coordinator also made it sound like staff would be able to help set up for that weekend, but if we hadn’t had our close friends helping the site would not have been set up in time. Finally, dinner was served about an hour late.
We were actually very pleased overall with how our wedding turned out. We just wish we would have known more about what we were personally responsible for going in. That would have prevented much of the miscommunication and frustrations.
We stayed in the garden house which was lovely. I enjoyed how kind and laid back the staff was, but sometimes it was to their detriment - like our room not being ready by 3pm check in, and then there were clothes in the dryer and dishes in the dishwasher. The place is beautiful and relaxing, just not as organized as it could be.
My wife and I really enjoyed out stay at Mountain Magnolia Inn. The accommodations are nice and the property is beautiful. It's only a short walk to the rest of Hot Springs. Be sure to say hello to the friendly neighborhood cat Casper who can be seen hanging around the front porch during breakfast. Dinner was also excellent. We highly recommend it!

Wow, where to begin? Amazing experience all around. Had an emergency delay to our road trip and weren't able to leave to make our reservation, but they worked with us so we could have a voucher and we were able to book the next week. Had terrible weather and took us forever to get there from Maryland, but they met us at the door around 9pm and still served us dinner, which was AMAZING. So fresh and flavorful and filling. They also worked with us to give gf and df options! We stayed in the Walnut room which was beautiful and cozy. Breakfast the next morning was great, and we were off to out next destination. A big thank you to Bruce, Rob, Marion, Christina and everyone else.
This is our third stay at the Mountain Magnolia's Stone Cottage and our second stay during COVID. The kitchen is very well equipped in terms of equipment, so you can easily prepare whatever meals fit your mood. There are a few spices on the shelves and oil, but you should plan to bring all you need in terms of actual ingredients. Most cookware is cast iron, and the stove is gas. It is a perfect location for getting away while social distancing. In the warm weather, the river is great to play in and sit by. The hot tub is welcoming when it is cold.
The wifi is great and allows for watching movies on a laptop if you choose, but there is not a tv hanging on the wall to distract you. Our daughter finds the sleep sofa comfortable. The bed in the loft area is very nice.
Other nice touches- there is an ample supply of towels and washcloths. Also, the cabin has toiletries, but they are not in mini-bottles which is nice for reducing waste. The cabin is well supplied with what you need to keep the cabin tidy during your stay.
Just what we needed for a long weekend getaway. The rooms are beautiful, food delicious. The grounds are magnificent. The trees outside our room, majestic. Staff very warm and accommodating. Can`t wait to come back!
My wife and I stumbled into this place after putting a long day of hiking on the AT. Our first impression was that this is a beautiful place that the owner obviously take pride in. We were greeted by the owners daughter with a warm welcome. Without reservations, they were able to place us in a room that would make your jawl drop at a very resonable price. Did I mention that breakfast was included, it was one of those breakfest that even your mom would approve of. My wife and I thank you very much for a wonderful experience; we enjoyed every minute of our stay.
Quaint, comfortable and friendly. We stayed here and drive to soak in Hot Springs tub. The inn provided tote bags with 2 towels and 2 bottles of water. We stayed in the Garden House. Plenty of room for 3 adults and 2 teens. Front porch had rocking chairs, plenty of bedding and towels. Breakfast was good and coffee a plenty.
