Everything is fresh, love all the sauces, love the presentation. Best sushi I ever had! And really nice chef and server. Thank you!

Sushi miyagi is one of my favorite restaurants in Houston. It is run by a Japanese couple who do everything themselves, so the hours are limited and the wait can be long. However, the quality of the food is exceptional. Some of my favorites are the salmon sushi, escolar sushi, spicy hotate sushi, tamago sashimi (the best!), shaggy dog roll, and spider roll. I have also liked their chirashi bowl, miso soup, chicken karaage, and pork katsu. My friends like their sweetie creamy roll, tofu, salmon roll, yellow tail sushi, udon soup and curry rice. They serve by the table, even if you plan on taking to-go. If you plan on visiting, come as soon as it opens, as there will already be a line outside the door!

Beat sushi I ever had, the only real issue is the wait. Lines are long and you'll need to come early to be able to get in and out relatively fast. Otherwise you'll be standing around for a while.

A lovely wife and husband ran sushi spot. The portions are nice and the quality of the fish is top notched. They do have very short hours of 12pm to 3pm, and it’s always packed. The husband does all of the sushi work, while the wife handles all of the clients and other dishes. Please be patient with them because they’re working as hard as they can! They tend to have a line on weekends before they open up, so keep that in mind. There’s always a wait, but it’s worth it for this lil gem!

This restaurant is a real gem, owned by a wonderful couple and serving authentic Japanese dishes. We sampled different things from the menu and loved every single bite.

NOTE: My friend and I came in on Thursday at 12:30 but was informed that it would be a two hour wait for food so we came on Friday at 11:40 (there were already two people waiting in front of us and by 11:50, there was a line of 15 people). If you want to be seated right away, I would strongly recommend arriving at the latest 11:45. On other weekdays (besides Friday) and the weekend, you might get away with arriving around 11:50/12 but the earlier the better because the inside isn’t very big. Review: This is a hole in the wall restaurant ran by an older Japanese couple. The husband is the one making/assembling all the sushi and sashimi while the wife is tirelessly taking and running orders. My friend and I ordered the Agedashi Tofu, Spicy Salmon Roll, and the Sushi Lunch Combo. Everything tasted amazing and fresh here. The agedashi tofu was perfectly fried and the sauce was delicious. The sushi was just as amazing - the fish pieces were thick so I appreciate the fact that they didn’t skimp on that unlike many other sushi restaurants. The interior was also super cute, full of Japanese decor and knick knacks. I was also able to talk to the owners a little bit and they are super sweet and hardworking. It was so nice being able to support a small local Japanese business. Japanese people are hard to come by in general so it was heartwarming to finally be able to converse with Japanese folks besides my family members. Overall, I absolutely loved it here and will be coming back! とても美味しかったです。ごちそうさまでした!

Since this restuarant has limited seatings and ran by just the couple, the wait may be long. However, the food was worth to try. The agedashi tofu sauce was light and on point as the bite into the tofu was lightly crunchy and soft. A small miso soup to get the taste buds going. The size of the sushi and rolls were a bit bigger than usual for us. Flavors and freshness were great. The curry rice was delicuously light.

I like it. Not the best sushi in town but very enjoyable. And it’s affordable. Plus it’s a local mom pop shop so eating here, you’ll be supporting a small business! They have the weirdest hours ever but if you do manage to come here, it’s great. Come early. There’s always a line forming at least 30 mins prior to opening time for lunch. And once seated, the waitress will take orders one table at a time. So please be patient! My friend and I opted for the lunch chirashi bowl, crunchy salmon bowl and a few pieces of spicy chopped nigiris. Chirashi bowl was definitely a great choice. Fresh fish on a bowl of rice. It’s great for sharing too. And you can’t ever go wrong with spicy chopped scallops! These were huge! And filled with lots of masago! Would definitely order these all the time if I could! The crunchy salmon bowl to me was a little overrated. It’s probably one of their most popular item. And quite frankly, it’s a little pricey ($30) for a lot of tempura bits mixed with salmon. Even though I enjoyed it, I think it’s just not worth $30! Agedashi tofu was great. Lightly fried and the sauce was perfect. Overall, food was pleasant and service wasn’t too shabby. I need to go back for lunch asap!

Hands down the best casual sushi place in town. The restaurant is ran by a super friendly husband and wife team, serving sushi favorites, with generous portions. We've been here countless times, and always leave very full and satisfied. Miyagi-san is the only one behind the sushi counter prepping the food, so be patient...the wait can be a little long when they're busy. Trust me, your patience will be rewarded! We love their charashi bowl, along with their chopped scallop sushi. Their nigiris are also delicious, with the sushi rice as exactly as we remembered it when we traveled to Japan. They are VERY generous with their protein, you won't get tiny slivers of fish here! Try this place out! You won't be disappointed.

Our first time here and it was so good! The seafood are so fresh and the miso soup is amazing compared to other places i’ve been to. The ambience in here is also so welcoming and cozy.

This is truly a local mom and pop restaurant, especially since it's only a pair of husband and wife working together. Be patient when you eat here, since there are only two people working so service can be slow when it's crowded but in exchange you get an incredible sushi with unbeatable price. Everything are how you expect an authentic sushi place should be - the rice was cooked to perfection with a dash of vinegar, the fish was cut in generous potion and pair well together, everything taste delicious and they have the best unagi in town!!! Lunch menu here is a deal, the chirashi and the unaju is just insanely good.

I always love sushi miyagi! The food is so fresh and the potions are good. It’s very traditional and I love all the options on the menu. The price is reasonable for what you get. I come back again and again to try different things.

Highly recommended! Food is so delicious. Everything we try is very impressive. My favorite is the crispy spicy salmon salad. Very fresh, tasty, with layers of texture and flavor. Must try!! We came on Tuesday afternoon around 2. There is table no need to wait. I was expecting a long waiting time. But actually, we did not wait long for our first dish to come. Maybe only 15-20 minutes. A really pleasant experience here, will definitely come again.

Amazing food and excellent value. The fish was wonder and the portions are quite generous. It is a husband and wife team that literally do everything. So, be prepared for it to take some time. They are working hard for you, but it is not a fast meal. They also only have a few tables so get there early if you want in. We were there at 11:45 and got the last table. We left around 1:45. Like I said, it takes a while, but it is well worth it if you have the time and know what you are getting in to. We will be back for sure.

The pinnacle example of mom and pop shop. Husband and wife hustle hard and put in all their heart into it. Resulting in possible long waits but genuine passion for quality and service. Spicy scallops, amazing tofu, and fresh sashimi. Place is not at all what you'd expected with passion art work from the auntie and randomness of the decor. I'd still come back to try more ! Pricing and quality is amazing for its location ! Enjoy !

Waiting is long (approximately 2hrs), but it is worth it, very traditional Japanese style sushi and you can feel the passion for food from the chef. The sushi lunch I don't recommend since I think others with similar prices have a much better and unique taste.

I’ve always heard stories about this being a hole in the wall spot ran by a real Japanese couple. I was not disappointed. The service will be slower than what you might be use too... because there is only 2 workers. The husband prepares the sushi and maybe the other items while majority of the waiting tables and serving the guest is taken cared of by the wife. They are both sweet people. The food was so delicious and I really am not lying that the vibes gave me the small diner experience I had in Japan. Don’t expect the nicest or best well put together looking restaurant. What you can expect is love towards the craft of cooking. I recommend the isobeage and also the tofu as an appetizer. Please keep visiting these little gems so they can continue on giving some of the best food experiences for people to try in the future!

Very cute little mom and pop (literally a husband and wife doing everything). It's only open for about 3 hours per day during the week, so get there early. You will still probably have to wait a while. We got there around 12:10 and got our table around 1, finished our food around 2 pm. All around a very pleasant experience, and a good deal for very good sushi!
