I absolutely love this place! My wife took me here right after we got engaged and they took the best care of us. They were so amazing that we decided to have our wedding reception here! They worked with us to get the exact wines we wanted, food and went above and beyond when helping with decorations! I really can't say enough amazing things about Sonoma and Farrah and their extensive knowledge on wine! If you are looking for a great glass of wine, place to hold a happy hour or even small event, Sonoma Wine Bar is the BEST place to go!
Sonoma is my favorite spot for happy hour and/or dinner with girlfriends. The wine selection is great, something at every price point and the food is so delish! I love the brie, charcuterie and especially the pizzas!

My husband and I visited Sonoma Wine Bar because it was suggested by a friend. We waited to go on a Friday for the wine flight happy hour deal. The wine was fabulous and so was the artichoke dip! The waiter was very knowledgeable about the wine he served us. This place was very quiet and quaint! We will definitely be visiting again!

I LOVE SONOMA!!!!! The staff is super friendly, and very knowledgeable of their wine, not to mention they often offer tastes to ensure I will be satisfied with my selection. I have never had a bad bottle here! Now, let's talk food. The food here is on another level. Normally wine bars are limited to the charcuterie and cheese board type of spread. Not the case here. They have an ample assortment of meats and cheeses, but they also have a full kitchen that does not disappoint. My friends and I frequent both locations very regularly because we know what we will get....great wine, great food and great service!!! Looking forward to my next visit!!!!
Server was awesome! I’m sorry I’m Blanting in his name! Very knowledgeable on his wines had some great suggestions, not hovering and could find him when needed. Look forward to going back and ha i g him again ( I’ll remember his face and personality) but for sure a place to check out!!

Increasingly popular wine bar
As we continue to patronize this place, we notice it is increasingly popular. Most of the time it is full and because of all the hard surfaces, that means it is increasingly noisy. However, the choice of wines is excellent and the service is friendly, efficient and prompt. We were sad to see the place took off the duck rolls from the menu: it was one of the best features. We hope it comes back soon.

Anyone who knows me know that beer is my adult beverage of choice. Liquor and cocktails rank second and wine ranks a distant third. However, while wine my not be what I crave, I do like wine cafes due to their intimate and cozy atmosphere and this is why I like Sonoma Wine Bar and Café.
Sonoma Wine Bar and Café has an outdoor patio which can be nice when the weather is fair, but it is right next to the parking lot and therefore not necessarily a place to enjoy a great view while you sit and sip wine. The inside is better, since it is more intimate and cozy. There is a bar with bar stools, tables and chairs, and couches with chairs. They even have a fireplace and the soft lighting makes for a relaxed, romantic vibe.
Sonoma Wine Bar and Café serves a nice assortment of wine and the staff is always ready to make recommendations based on individual taste preferences. Also, much to my relief, they serve beer and while the selection isn’t as large as I would like, it’s still not bad and they serve several tasty craft beers.
Food is served at Sonoma Wine Bar and Café and they are widely known in the area for their cheese and meat trays. If you want a little more food, they serve pizzas and assorted large and small entrees. They put a great deal of care into the preparation of their food and most who dine here will find the food to their liking.
The prices at Sonoma Wine Bar and Café are a little higher than those at other bars, but the atmosphere is nice and it isn’t loud, making it a good choice when you want to have an enjoyable conversation while you sip on your wine or brew. The atmosphere is definitely the establishment’s strongest suit, but there are many other things to like about Sonoma Wine Bar and Café and it is a place I recommend to all.

This was a fantastic location for some wine, bites and conversation. The bubbly rosé was lovely and the bites we ordered to share were delicious. The Brie was done perfectly! We sat for 4 hours, had 2 bottles and the time flew by. Attentive staff and nice atmosphere. Great for a date, drinks with friends or a romantic couples. Will come back to try the entrees.
Wine and food are both good, but would have enjoyed a better atmosphere. Maybe more casual/relaxing indoor seating or a porch that isn't facing the parking lot. Otherwise our night was nice! We ordered the Big, Bold & Beautiful wine flight and two pizzas. It was all great!
I absolutely love this place. Fresh hand tossed pizza and several different wines to choose from. Even when there was a small hiccup in the service their service recovery was amazing! Definitely will go back and recommend.
The tomato bail soup is quite delicious! Hell, everything here is fabulous. The wine selection is extensive and unique, a great opportunity to taste many different wines by the glass.
Relax and enjoy. Went there with some colleagues from work. We were in from out of town and we don't see one another face to face. This place was just perfect, good for relaxing, excellent wine and a perfect environment to enjoy the people you came with. Food was good and the service was attentive but not smothering. They see to want you to relax. They also gave honest wine recommendations
Great Wine and Food. This is a great spot to be relaxed! I was there this weekend and scored a table by the fireplace which made for the perfect back-drop for datenight with the wife.
We shared two different bottles of wine - a Cabernet and a Zinfandel Blend, enjoyed them both. We noticed the new menu so we took it slow and snacked on different items - gourmet cheese plate, scallops, portabella risotto and the flourless chocolate cake. Everything was delicious and priced reasonable.
Sonoma is a very nice Wine Bar with great service, atmosphere and a laid back vibe that my wife and I appreciate! We will be back several times over.
Good Nuts. We go to Sonoma to start off our evening with a glass of wine and some warm nuts. Nice atmosphere- slightly slower service-- but it helps to unwind before the start of a night out.
Great Spot. Want some light fare over great wine at real world prices to just hang out with some friends and family? Come on over. This place is great, different and very well done. Add some variety to the mix, it doesn't always have to be "restaurants".

All in all my wife and I had a great time at Sonoma Retail Wine Bar & Restaurant. In fact I look forward to going back and am even planning on taking some friends who would love this place. At such a time I hope to bring back some pictures of the food and adding an expansion to this review. I would wholeheartedly recommend this establishment to others and encourage them to go.

It’s a great place to taste a wide range of wine and the food is delicious. The staff is knowledgeable about the origin story of each bottle and provides a good sense of what each person might like.
I’ve hosted my birthday party and several small gatherings here, and each time has been a hit.
Sonoma is probably my favorite bar in the entire city. It’s cozy and friendly and has become my safe place to enjoy a glass of wine by myself, which was a big plus for me. Taylor is so good about remembering what I did and didn’t like about something I tried that. whenever Taylor or Edgar do have a free second which can be rare they entertain some really great conversation and the banter between them is hilarious. 10/10 stay and chat with them it makes the wine time even better IMO!
Outstanding experience! Joined a group of friends this evening and had the best time. Edgar and Hector were the perfect hosts. They guided us toward wines that were affordable and tasteful.
We shared 3 pizzas and took some home. We also enjoyed the deviled eggs. Small but brilliant taste! Don’t pass these up as they’re definitely something to start the evening with.
A splendid night. Looking forward to returning soon!
I always love this place because it's reasonably priced & the bartenders are always accommodating.
On my last visit, I brought one of my young mentees (mid 20s) as she has wanted to learn more about wine. I knew flights would be a great idea for her to dip her toes into the red wines. I explained to the bartender the situation & he came up with a perfect, customized flight for her. We also shared a Margherita pizza. It was very good, although I wish it would have been thin crust. That's just me being picky though.

One of the coolest wine bars in Houston, Texas with an excellent selection of wines and delicious Bordeau pizza. Our go-to wine bar for our monthly skipper's meeting. Great food, good vibes and service.

Great place, smooth setting and great music choice. Extensive wine choices and very knowledgeable people who work here! They Do have food here also, I recommend that grilled cheese. I know that's basic but it's crafted beautifully! Nice place to come with friends or a partner!

Wine isn’t really my thing. I have to be in a specific mood to want wine and this mood might come around one day per month at best. I would rather drink beer or liquor, but I am fully aware of the often cozy and intimate atmosphere present in most wine lounges and this was enough to convince me to visit Sonoma Wine Bar and Café.
This wine café has an outdoor patio, but since it faces the parking lot and area buildings, it isn’t as nice as it could be. The inside is preferable. There is a bar with seats, tables and chairs, and more comfortable couches and chairs. They even have a fireplace and the hanging lights are turned down low during the evening hours, perfect for a more intimate gathering or romantic date.
The wine selection at Sonoma Wine Bar and Café is substantial and if you’re not sure what you want, the staff is more than happy to guide you in the right direction based on your taste preferences. They also serve beer, which makes the establishment more appealing to someone like me. It would be cool if the beer selection was larger, but it is still acceptable and there are several tasty craft beer options from which to choose.
For food, Sonoma Wine Bar and Café serves assorted cheese and meat trays, pizzas, snacks, and various small and large entrée plates. Wine is the specialty here but because they serve beer, too, the food options are more varied than at wine- only cafes. The foods offered can go with beer, wine, or both and they do serve some tasty food dishes to go with your drink. They have desserts as well, perfect for an end to your visit and great when combined with a sweet dessert wine.
The service at Sonoma Wine Bar and Café is generally good and the servers try their best to help you find what you like. The prices are a little higher than those at most other bars, but the atmosphere is intimate and the noise level is generally low, making this a good choice when you’re craving adult conversation. Overall, it adds up to an establishment worthy of your time and attention right here in the upper Kirby/Greenway Plaza area.
