Saw the good reviews and gave it a try. The complimentary salsa and chips is definitely one of the best in Houston. Fajita quesadilla was amazing. You can ask for beef and chicken if you want to try both. Then my husband had carne guisada which was very tender and had a bit of a kick to it. I had their chile relleno and it was huge! Really good experience, very attentive staff. It is worth the drive.
The food is amazing such great quality and flavor! The service is hands down the best I’ve had in a long time! Looking for exceptional down home Mexican food this is the place to go!
This place is tucked away in a shopping center at the corner of steinmart & Kroger off W. Little York & Hwy 6. If I hadn't passed it and looked it up on Yelp, I probably wouldn't have given it a try. I'm glad I did because I had some of the best mole & carne guisada I've had in my life! Service was excellent! The only downfall was that they do not have their liquor license yet so were only able to give me a small margarita on the house(it was on the rocks and excellently made). I can't wait till they are fully operational but I will be back!
Really great authentic Mexican food. The owner is super friendly and the staff is ready to assist you. The flan is one of the best I’ve had!
I highly recommend Julia’s Mexican Restaurant. Not only is the food very authentic and delicious, but the staff is extremely friendly and personable. They interact with every customer to make sure their visit is enjoyable.
Had lunch here for first time on Thursday- ordered beef fajitas which can be tough and chewy at most restaurants. But here, they were tender, juicy and had tons of flavor. The owner explained that he pays a little more for a better beef. He is really nice. Treated us to a complimentary flan for dessert which was super delicious.
The food is amazing. Family owned, so you know everything is made to order! My husband and I go every Saturday, and we order something new each time, we have yet to be disappointed. The tres leches cake is incredible! The staff is friendly and personable, the owner is always on site and makes a point to talk to each table. If you want quality Mexican food that tastes like home, this is your place!
The best Mexican food in town! Happy to find this restaurant nearby (Highway 6 & West Little York). Wonderful family owned restaurant. They use better cut of beef in their fajita.
Our new Mexican Restaurant spot their Queso is Aaamazing the food is fresh and delicious. Highly recommend! Enjoyed my visit here.
This place is really great! Food is amazing, staff is great, price is fair! Try the Tre leches cake hands down best I've ever had!
Fresh and flavorful..... simple and delicious, nice portion sizes. Friendly staff and fairly priced. Most definitely will be going again.
The food is awesome!!! Fresh guacamole, fresh salsa, so yummy queso!!! Chicken mole is amazing!!!!! My husband had a huge bowl of soup the last time that he couldn't stop talking about. Wonderful family owned place. Let's put them on the map!!!!!
Excellent! Super friendly staff and management with awesome food and the absolutely the best Tres Leches ever!!
Such a great experience i had the chicken Salad just the perfect portion the chicken it was so good i loved it.
Very nice Mexican Restaurant. staff is very nice & attentive. I LOVED the Chile con queso & Flan! I ordered the mariachi steak & shrimp! Definitely recommend! 10/10!
Love this place! We go weekly! Food is amazing! You will not be disappointed with anything on the menu!
I was skeptical to try this place out for breakfast but my mom convinced me.
The manager greeted us and told us about the specials, the food came out fast, and it tasted delicious. They forgot something that I ordered and I didn't realize until I left, didn't bother. The place has a lot of seating as well and a bar.
Great restaurant and staff. Food portions are always huge and I never have enough room for dessert lol. Staff is extremely friendly and you even see the owner going around and making sure you're taken care of. They always have the Astros on the TVs as well! Can't recommend this place enough!
Very nice place. The atmosphere is nice and it seems cozy. Vicente was very professional, polite and knowledgeable about the menu. The owners Mr. Abundio was also very nice and went over the menu items with us. It was my first time there. I ordered a berry mojito and carne guisada. Both were very fresh and tasty. I’ll be back to try something different soon.
Friendly staff and good food with generous portions, good variety and very keenly priced. Happy hour prices daily are even better. Pretty good margaritas as well. Outside dining patio available if one doesn't mind the traffic on Hwy 6 . Male restrooms need a little attention though.
The owner personally made rounds, ensuring that we were enjoying every bite, which added a touch of warmth and genuine care to our meal. To our pleasant surprise, they even brought out some dishes for us to try on the house! The service was impeccable - swift, attentive, and always with a smile. And the food? Simply out of this world! The margaritas were strong, but good, and reasonably priced. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a top-notch Mexican culinary journey!
I've been coming here since they were at there previous location and I honestly never have a complaint. Amazing food , friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. I hope to be consuming there food for many years to come.
Love this place! I came by after work around 4pm just to give it a try, and I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the attentiveness of the servers. The waitress and I had a miscommunication but she handled it with grace and understanding! It is a small menu but each option sounds awesome, and for the quality of the food it is a very reasonable price. The frozen margarita is comparable to my favorite at Los Cucos on Clay, but much more affordable especially during happy hour! I will definitely be back with friends and family!
We are new to the area then looking for a Mexican restaurant that has great food and we definitely found one. There's a reason that it has a high rating. My wife loved the enchiladas and the quesadillas had a lot of meat on them.
In the dipping sauce is terrific.
This place is AMAZINGGGG. Words cannot describe it. It is authentic tasting Mexican food. It is flavorful beyond belief but not salty or over whelming, everything tastes homemade like my grandma was cooking me dinner. So so so good, I highly recommend!! We got the fajitas with corn tortillas and charro beans and the traditional beef fajita enchiladas with retired beans.
I just want to each the charro beans everyday all 3 square meals.
Highly recommend!
A truly refreshing menu when we are surrounded by tex-mex restaurants around us. The atmosphere was very relaxing, proper lightning with an inviting decor.
Sofia offered top notch service. She was able to explain the menu components. Her attentiveness to us helped us bring our rating to 5 stars.
The menu gives a variety of true Mexican flavors in each coarse. My wife's chicken nachos came out with a fantastic plate presentation and was full of flavor. My vegetable enchiladas had excellent flavor profiles with the white rice and black beans accompaniment.
We will definitely return here as our choice of quality Mexican cuisine. We will recommend Julias to anyone looking for an authentic Mexican dining experience.
Everything was delicious! I am a long time customer and they have only gotten better over the years. The chicken fajita won’t disappoint you! I tried something new this time around I believe the name was puerco guisado and it was awesome! I’m a baby with spicy food but this was great.
Their queso blanco is also delicious.
Check out their new brunch menu on Facebook! I got a little preview of the MENUDO and it is fantastic!
Stopped here last "Margarita Monday" as we usually try to go to a new place every week. It was rather quiet when we went, just a few people in the restaurant. However, I'm sure it is much busier on other nights towards the weekend. Everyone was really friendly and we met the owner who seemed like a nice guy who really cares about the restaurant and guest's experience. He checked on us and everyone else several times, we sat at the bar and had Margaritas as well as Mole chicken and shrimp tacos. Everything was fresh, authentic and good. My husband is a picky eater and he's even more critical of Mexican food as he himself grew up on it and his mom is from Chihuahua, and his dad was from El Paso so they went to Mexico often. He enjoyed it as well, We plan to go back again in a few weeks as we still like to try new places and revisit old ones we enjoy. It is definitely worth a stop, the place is sparkling clean, food is delicious and the staff is very friendly.
If you are over the basic Tex Mex food and want actual flavor in your plate stop thinking about trying this place, just go! Don’t let the look of the building fool the gem inside!! Came once to dine in and the suizas enchiladas(little heat) were amazing and even my 6 yr old child ate the flautas taquitos and he loved it!! Came back 2nd time for take out and took a chance to have their flan, which by the way I’m not usually a big fan of flan but this is the place I would come just for flan and coffee now. Space is huge enough to celebrate birthdays or any large number of guest gatherings. They are closed on Sundays so keep that in mind.
Love the food here. So delicious. Not the same as "Tex-Mex" , but a little more interior mexican style food recipes. The owner/manager is a very conscientious gentleman. And I like that it is a small business and not part of a large restaurant chain. Support your small local neighborhood place and check this place out.
Drinks 5/5 - I have tried the house and their best margarita, one above the Top Shelf. Both were equally good.
Food 5/5 - I have tried the Carne Guisada, Cheese Enchiladas and Beef Fajitas and all of them delicious. The cheese enchiladas are made traditionally, but I believe you can order them Tex-Mex style.
Service 4/5 - Service has good, not great. I feel I have to wave them down for refills and I feel like they need to offer options when ordering Charro vs refried, etc.
This restaurant is fantastic, not your typical TexMex and I’m embarrassed to say TexMex. I have traveled all most around the world and have lived in Houston area for over 20-years. I typically don’t comment on a restaurant but Julia’s is fantastic. A simple menu and the food is cooked in layers (I’m an amateur chef). Great food (if the Chef has a special you will not be disappointed!) Great staff, service, clean and darn great Mexican food! David Green PS. The price will not break the bank!
