I pass up many Colombian spots just to get to this one. It's my favorite, best food, chorizos and Pandeja Paisa. Best priced for the amount of food and service is always on point. I will not eat at other Colombian spots because of this location. Any time we visit Houston, this is our "most recommend" location. My husband and I have remained loyal customers for over 6+ years.

First time trying out Colombian food and I loved it! We ordered the Bandeja Montañera and it was a lot of food and delicious. The service was also great. Will definitely be going back!
The food was delicious! The customer service was excellent!! If you are Colombian like myself and are in the Houston area and you are looking for a restaurant that has our food, this is it!! Deliciosa la comida!!
The best Colombian restaurant I ever had I love all the food here any time of the year is always great
Muy buen lugar muy atentos con clientes a pesar de no ser colombiana y ser mexicana me hacen sentir como en casa y muy rica la comida
Rikisimo todo más el maraculla delicioso el servicio muy bueno me encantó boy a volver
I've been going to La Fogata for many years and they've never let me down with the quality of food and service. I show up whenever I can on Fridays to have my favorite, Cazuela de Marizcos (Seafood Soup). I've tried the same dish in many other Colombian restaurants. This is the best by far!!
Excellent alternative for lunch or dinner. Very delicious food and the closest I've gotten to real Colombian food in Houston coming from someone that grew up in Colombia service was also great and genuine. Only downside is it is on the expensive side ($15 for Bandeja paisa) but you get what you pay for and it is worth the money.
La Fogata is the best Colombian food in Houston. We have been going there 26+ years. We have never been disappointed. Food is always great and customer service is amazing!
This place has been on my radar for a couple years. Today was the day we finally gave them a try, after trying their Colombian cuisine I thought i should have gotten here sooner. My wife loved her fajita de pollo, came with fried plantains, rice and beans, the chicken fajitas had strips of bell pepper and onions. I loved the Bandeja Montanera, grilled top inside round beef steak, a seasoned strip of fried pork belly, a fried egg on top of a mound of rice, red beans and a slice of avocado. They do a lunch menu monday thru friday from 11 am to 3 pm. You can get the lunch menu, both things we ordered were from the lunch menu, for a couple dollars more, any day, any time after lunch hours. We shared everything as always.....including an Empanada de Res, filled with beef, potato and rice, with a corn shell/crust, fried up to a golden crisp. I think every country in Central and South America has their version of the empanada. Very nice people and great food. We will be back.
First time visit to this location. We had a great experience. No issues. Service was prompt. Drinks served on time. Food come out quickly. Our waitress checked on us often. Location was clean. Restrooms were nice and tidy. Parking was a bit difficult since there are a lot of business there. We got a Bandeja Paisa and 3 empanadas. The bandeja was great. The empanadas were a bit different then the usually Colombian empanadas we are use to getting. Regardless all was well overall. We wood definitely visit again.
If you've never been to La Fogata, as soon as you finish reading this review, drive over there and get some excellent Colombian food. I came here for lunch yesterday with a couple of colleagues. This wasn't my first time coming. I've been here multiple times. It is a right of passage to bring colleagues new and old here for lunch and it never fails to satisfy.
First of all, this restaurant is very clean and spacious. There is plenty of room and space available for groups. I've come with up to 15 people during lunch and had no problem getting seated right away. The staff is super friendly, making you feel very welcome as soon as you enter. You will be greeted not only by the friendly smiles of the staff but also the hypnotic sounds of tropical and salsa music, making this a very upbeat and vivacious environment! It is impossible to walk in here and not be in a great mood.
I rarely order the same dish twice when I return to a restaurant I have already visited but La Fogata is definitely an exception to that rule. I keep ordering the same dishes here. They are that good! First, you have to begin with the empanadas. You cannot go wrong with the Empanadas de Res (beef) or the Empanadas de Pollo (chicken). Since I am usually here with a group, I prefer to order both. The meat, potato and rice combined with the deep fried yellow corn shell warm my soul as soon as I take a bite. This has to be one of the best appetizers out there. Dip them in a little aji, which is a sauce made from a mix of tomatoes, peppers, onions and cilantro and you will want to eat more than one. Save room though because you will need it for the main course.
The star of the show and what keeps me coming back for more is the Bandeja Paisa. This is the perfect meal. The only way I can describe it is sheer and utter satisfaction! When the plate is placed in front of you, the dilemma that will face you is where to begin. The carne asada (grilled skirt steak), chicharron ( fried pork belly), chorizo (Colombian sausage), Huevo frito (fried egg), arroz (white rice), frijoles (red beans), plátano madero (fried sweet plantain), aguacate (avocado) and arepa (white corn patty) will sate any appetite. This meal is large enough to feed two people! Every time I eat this meal, I am set for the rest of the day. Trust me, if you order this, you will not regret it and you will walk out of there feeling like you made an excellent choice. I've tried other Colombian restaurants and I can honestly say, I haven't found one that makes Bandeja Paisa to match the quality of La Fogata! I haven't even found a close contender yet. Give a round of applause to the staff cooking this food! They are making something special here!
If you want great service in a clean place this is the restaurant for you. The food is amazing in taste from the beef empanada with the salsa that is given with it. We also got arroz con camarones and the churrasco. Everything cooked to perfection and so was the flavor. The service was great and they really do keep this place clean. Can't wait to come back and try other menu items.
Really tasty good with large servings sizes.
This was my first time here my son took us dinner because he has eaten here before. The food was very good 👍 and the prices are good, I had the chicken and Yellow rice with plantain and fries. It was delicious and they give u your money worth and the staff are very nice and attentive, I will be coming back again.
Awesome food, we got some type of mix plate that came with a bunch of everything.
Def must come back.
also, their mango juice with milk is 🔥👌🏾
We really enjoyed the Picada, especially the empanadas, plantains and sausage, and the beef with tomato and avocado. The brown sugar lemonade was also delicious. We'll be back.
Before the place is open, people is already queueing.
This is my first time at this place. I ordered pork belly and sweet plantain. It is gooooood. I probably should eat the pork belly with rice.
The service is great.
First time visiting. The service was excellent. I really liked the food and the salsa comes with it. I will come back and try other items.
I got the Picada plate, meat was well seasoned the empanadas were big and delicious ,it supposed to be for 2 people but honestly I think it can feed 3 or 4, I got guanabana water wich was delicious and tres leches cake, I think the cake was too sweet for my taste personally.
Definitely coming back to try something different.
La Fogata is my favorite Colombian restaurant in Houston. I've been coming here for over 10 years with my father and with friends. The bandeja montañera is still a fantastic value for lunch and the food tastes just as great as I remember! The soups are very hearty and filling as well! The service can be a bit on the slow side, but it's almost always a full house when I come here so that's understandable.
Food was delicious. We wanted to try something new while in town, more so comfort food then Fine Dining. The place was on the mark.
Very good Columbian food. Agua Frescas were great. Had the Arroz con Pollo. Plantains cooked perfectly and the rice with chicken had great flavor. Try their empanadas too! Super crispy! Great prices on their food and a very clean restaurant.
I went in on a suggestion from a friend. It was clean and the waitress was incredibly nice.
I tried the beef empanadas and they were fantastic.
I also tried the Bandeja Montañera, i was so surprised at how well everything went with each other.
I will definitely be returning in the near future.
Like eating straight in Colombia. Some of the best Colombian I've had. A little hole in the wall place and never would've known or tried if it wasn't for a.family member. Very friendly staff and food came out promptly... I got the picada , it says for two but alot more food . Lemonade is a MUST. Will definitely be coming back more often .
We absolutely loved this place. Food is very tasty and pretty authentic. The environment is awesome. The service wasn't perfect but I think they just forgot to assign our table after the lady that was serving us finished her shift. The food was so so so good, starting with the apetizer ( beef empanada), entree ( picada and churrasco) and finishing with the dessert (tres leches) that we didn't care the oversight. Ooohhh the mango smoothie and also the passion fruit smoothie were delicious!!! Highly recommend this place.
