I went there on a date, the food was amazing and fresh. They had sushi that most places don't offer. Sea Bass and Bluefin Tuna were off the chain fresh, along with fresh wasabi (a first for me). The service was friendly and helpful. So much I decided to have a social event hosting about 20 people. They have private rooms that you can reserve. I can't wait and so excited to share my experience with others. Great place, great atmosphere, and amazing sushi.
A friend and I visited this restaurant 1.5 hrs before closing time last night (a Sunday night). What an unexpected delight. We are both foodies and have reasonably high standards when it comes to food. At this hour on a Sunday night we were just happy to eat anything decent that was open and would not turn us away. We were warmly greeted and you could tell they were preparing to end their night soon. The waitress was extremely pleasant and very accommodating with her service and warm smile. The drinks were delicious. The food was extremely fresh and just as delicious. We were not rushed in any way at all and thoroughly enjoyed this little sushi restaurant. Totally recommend trying this any time you're in the mood for some good sushi and service!
All day Happy Hour on Sunday. We had some rolls that are on quite a few menus around town. Everything was really tasty, came out pretty efficiently. Overall our sushi craving was definitely fulfilled this afternoon.
Asian wings and crab puffs to start. Both came out crunchy and hot. The Asian wings were amazing crunchy different kind of batter with a super good fried chicken seasoning.
Naruto Salmon and Tuna Sunrise rolls were our favorite. Also had some classics like Catepillar roll, Shaggy Dog, and Crunchy roll.
It's not perfect. But it's very good. Not very many vegetarian options, but that's typical of any sushi place. The service was great, it might have been because it was empty(Monday evening), but I've gotten terrible service at empty places before.
The kitchen clearly has talent as everything was very well made. Only one thing we ordered really stood out. The spicy garlic edamame. It was phenomenal.
The agedashi tofu was well made. As was the vegetable roll. Perfectly cooked but crunchy veggies. The inari was nice and flavorful.
Overall this is an extremely solid sushi. It's not special in its menu, it's all basic, but so well made. Add its not expensive. 7 dollars for a veg sushi is the same price as the supermarket, only difference is you get a few less pieces. Solid food, nice views, great service, and a great atmosphere. You won't go wrong here.
Best happy hr sushi and drinks. Look no further if you're googling it right now. They don't skip on value and quality just because the prices are reduced and that's why I keep going back. Get the Asian wings and gyoza for your apps. Trust me on this... all their rolls are spot on. 👌🏾 very relaxed upscale atmosphere and the staff are super friendly. Even when my Grubhub order was messed up once (app didn't communicate my order to the restaurant). The manager went right on it and offered a drink while I waited.
The food and drinks were really good like I can't wait to go back again. The atmosphere was really nice but our waitress could've been a bit more attentive. Like half of our dinner party was without food watching our friends enjoy their food and finish before we received our food wasn't cool.
Also I didn't like that yelp provided me with a 20% off coupon that turned out to be old/expired which the restaurant pointed out to me.
Sozo was a great experience. The price was right, and the food was really good. The balcony is the place to be, and the servers are nice and ready to serve you.
Overall a great experience, the side parking lot was convenient (and free, at least when we visit) and the quality exceeds the value.
The food was absolutely delicious. The fish was fresh, everything was fantastic. We had the butterfly roll, the pink lady, and a california roll. 100% will be coming back for the butterfly roll.
Comfortable and delicious. My husband and I stopped in on a chilly evening in January for some miso soup and sake. We shared a couple of rolls. Our server was friendly and the place was bright and clean. They have a beautiful rooftop patio. We would have loved to sit outside if the weather was warmer.
Great food, great service. We had the garlic edamame, lobster roll and a salmon naruto roll. We also tried the sky diver. The food was absolutely delicious. The edamame was flavorful and hard to stop eating. My favorite of the sushi we had was the lobster. It was divine. Highly recommend. I'll probably go again for the lunch specials.
Great place, great view, good food, and friendly staff! Found Sozo on Google restaurant list when I moved to the area! I went there on a Sunday and it became my weekly cheat meal sushi place! The all day happy hour on Sunday is great if you’re on a budget! I loved the food and how quiet the place is! The view is beautiful during the day and at night! I recommended to a friend and she been back weekly too! Great place for a date, dinner alone, or group eating!
Sozo sushi lounge has a great menu - and have really upgrated their service since our last visit. Today we had chicken -wings and -nuggets - which our no-sushi-eater loved, crispy calamari - which was delicious, spicy tuna, norwegian rolls (salmon) and crunchy rolls - which all was delicious and finally caterpillar rolls - may be the best caterpillar eaten ever. We went there a sunday - all day happy-hour - rest of the week 3 to 7. Come on, you have to try this place if you love sushi - great quality - and the Sapporo bear as well.
Good japanese restaurant. We ordered the lunch special 3 and it was awsome. Atmosphere is also great and restaurant was not too busy. The relation between quality of the food and price is great, so you can eat a good japanese food and do not pay $4 for a sushimi like in other restaurants.
I love Sozo's happy hour! They have a great happy hour menu with a ton of options for a great price. Service is always great. My friends and I love sitting outside on the balcony enjoying drinks and food.
They also have a roll wrapped in cucumber which is a great option if you're low carb or keto!
This place has amazing service and attention to detail. The food and drinks were really great as well. Every person we interacted with from the hostess to waitress to manager to food runner made our experience one of the best. The way they treat their customers is how restaurants should be, so people are happy spending their money for an evening out. We will definitely be returning. On to the food. Started with a couple drinks, the smoked old fashion and kiwi and vodka drink - both were nice and we'll presented. First appetizer we had was the garlic spicy edamame which came out hot and freshly steamed (great start). This was followed by a delicious and light miso soup. Then we had the croquettes which usually I find to be too dense BUT theirs was good and paired nicely with the accompanying sauce. The rolls were delicious as well the veggie roll (chef creation) and the snow king crab roll with shrimp tempura.
All in all, this is a great sushi place that will leave you wanting to come back. Thanks Sozo!
I had an amazing experience at Sozo. First I called to see if they would show the Texans. They said they were unsure. But when I arrived the had reserved seats at the bar for my group with the game. The manager was so kind. Now to the food and wine. Yum yum yum. The tuna towner was packed with fresh tuna. Plum wines was so smooth. I would return just for the view of the Gallieria, but I was so impressed with the service and food. Awesome
This is my first time here for happy hour. Loook sometimes can be deceiving. Is like a ghost town inside, but the food is phenomenal. One of the best sushi place I've eaten in Houston. BTW, food always taste much better when someone foot your bill!!
The table is very unique with inserted pebbles encased in some resin. There two private rooms for parties. Is spacious, well layout and nicely decorated...why is empty is still a mystery. Now on to the food:
Dobin Mushi - watch the video. This soup is a must try If u love soup. It has all kind of seafood in a very clear broth.
Torched salmon with yuzu koshi nigiri - my first time trying this. Would be better if it is torched longer. Is very good, the lemon zest complement the saltiness.
Scallop with avocado - taste mushy...dont really care for it
Sweet shrimp nigiri- is torched , so it has a bit of charred taste to the freshness and rawness of the shrimp. The shrimp head which I ate for the first time was very tasty.
Spring rolls - this is so different from any spring roll...is light and fresh with cucumber vignette sauce
Crab puffs - love it with sweet chilli dip....yummy
Spider roll - is okkkay
MOET Mimosas- ok too
Whiskey sour - awesome
Food was great, service was five-star! We bought some cupcakes and didn't want to leave them in the car, so we brought them and put on the table. One of the waitresses or manager was so considerate and offered to keep our cupcakes cooled in the fridge. I appreciate that. I'll be back for sure! :)
