Delicious beautifully interpreted menu. Decadent desserts and lovely drinks. This is not a place to come to if you need a quick bite. It is a place where you can sit, relax, and enjoy your meal, people watch and have a great conversation with your friends. I highly recommend the experience.

This cafe is elegant and unique! It felt like we took a trip to France to enjoy homemade pastries and tea. Our server was friendly, and the patio allows dogs. We will definitely be returning to this coffee nook!

The place is gorgeous. The eclairs are extremely tasty, not too sweet, perfectly balanced. By far the best croissant I have eaten in Houston. I wish they had more parking, but that is the only negative to it.

Beautiful decor and gorgeous food. Really worth a visit (or two or three...). My savory éclair (i had the smoked salmon one) was delicious, and so was the dark chocolate éclair. The tea was served from dainty china. I will definitely be back with friends.

Lovely place. I loved the lavender latte, thanks for the recommendation as I would not have tried it by myself. We tried the lemon, magnum and salted caramel, delicious.

From the moment I steped in to their facilities not knowing what was inside that state of the art builing, my sister and I were completley captivated by architecture, the ambiance, the colors and a warm welcoming in FRENCH! Then followed by recognizing all the details that have been put in to the cafe from the cups, the silverware, the books! Did I mentioned the books? And of course the final and best delicious pastries accompaing but how I love my coffee and tea? I am so glad this place exists in Houston, I place I call home and and also see other fellow entrepreneurs fulfill their dreams!

What an amazing atmosphere. Thank you for creating this place! I had a world-class quiche and lavender latte. The book selection is excellent, too #Queneau

Magnifique! Everything is fantastic - service, quiche, cookies, eclair, coffee and mimosas! I loved the little details like the table markers (I had Chopin) instead of being a number, silverware and the pink rotary phone on the counter! The authenticity is 100% from the architecture to the plate! This IS a French café!

Went here for the first time on Tuesday. I met the owner, she was beyond hospitable. Really cute environment. I didn't have their eclairs, but my friend and I did have some fried savory food (name was in French, I forgot). It was so good, we ordered it again. Coffee is amazing as well, would 100% return here. They definitely brought France to Houston. GREAT JOB!

We went there today for the first time. As a French, I tend to be super picky about these "French" places that are popping all over Houston. This one is really awesome! The food menu is creative and really tempting, we tried two tartines (prosciutto and avocado) and they were both delicious. Pretty large portions so the price/quantity ratio is good too. We tried the brie quiche and that was special because it reminded me exactly of the taste of home food. The decoration of the place is a bit too French for me hahaha but it is pleasant and my American friend loved it. Service has to be mentioned as well: both waiters and the couple that owns the place were all very attentive and spent time at all tables to make sure everyone was satisfied. Excellent service that reminds me of French hospitality and attention to details. TL;DR: Cool place, good food, go there already.

Absolutely delightful café in Midtown that exudes the essence of France! Precious decor, rustic furniture, charming cutlery/dishes, and a large full book shelf! My fiancé and I met 3 of our family members here around noon on a Friday - we had the entire café to ourselves actually! We tried a couple food items from the La Carte lunch/brunch menu: - The savory chicken “eclair salé” ($14) - marinated chicken + herbs/lemon/balsamic served on a choux pastry bun. It came with a mixed green salad. DELISH! - Beet & goat cheese ($14) mixed green salad with caramelized pecans and balsamic dressing - also yummy! For drinks, we tried the: - Butterfly Mimosa ($9) - gorgeous purple color cocktail: champagne, lemonade & sweet pea infusion - Fleur de Poêtes ($12, would say the price point could drop down to $9 like the other cocktails) - champagne, elderberry, sparkling water, lemon FYI from 2:30-4:30pm daily, afternoon tea with a set menu is served and is *reservation only* at $36 per person. We met who we believed was the owner - quintessentially fabulously French! The waitress we had was also super sweet. I will say it took quite some time for the food and drinks to come out, so I would plan on relaxing / not being in a rush when you come! Would love to come back to try some of the delicious-sounding brunch, dinner and pastry items!

Cafe Poetes is a quaint, charming Parisian café that has been thoughtfully crafted from the decor, furniture, ambience, and menu. As a French cuisine lover, there's nothing better than a well executed eclair with the perfect flakiness of the choux balanced by the savory filling of mushrooms, ham, and gruyere. We also tried the beet gazpacho which seems a bit too thick to be considered a soup, but the mingling flavors of the beets, tomatoes, balsamic, and goat cheese were classically delicious. One thing I will note is that we went at the end of September and the Spring menu had not been updated so there were multiple things on the menu that were not available like the traditional quiche Lorraine, which was disappointing. Other than that, I can't wait to come back to try their Afternoon Tea!

This place is absolutely precious! Not on is the building beautiful, but the pastries are authentic and oh so delicious! The dark chocolate choux and the eclairs are my absolute favorite. You can tell by the taste that they are made with quality ingredients and done in the traditional French way. You won’t be disappointed!

My new favorite Houston cafe!! The staff was great, the quiche Lorraine was the best thing I’ve ever had, the eclairs are out of this world, and the lavender latte fixed all of my problems. Love this place so much!

I've been to Poetes twice recently and really enjoy the place. Their atmosphere feels very French - from the food to decor to service. I've had several tarts, eclairs, breakfast items and beverages. The quality of all the food is great; fresh and flavorful. My favorite item I've had is the avocado and egg sandwich. I'll say that I'm a little disappointed by the desserts, maybe my palette is unrefined/American, but I prefer Epicure Cafe or even Le Madeline. Also, the place is on the more expensive side. However, I do recommend Cafe Poetes and will be going back (as soon as I get someone to cover my bill).

Had seen this place on a vlogger site so I wanted to check it out, such a cute aesthetic place! Went a week ago so we made a reservation and glad we did since it’s a very small place. Went for afternoon tea since I had it in London and the experience is so cute. This was a French place experience so a bit different. A little pricey for the portions, wish it allowed to choose the no champagne option at a lower price for those who don’t want alcohol. We chose the popular tea coconut frenzy which was delicious. Wish I would’ve bought some to go. The madelines were amazing. Will be back for maybe just tea and pastries.

The coffee: The cortado is okay. It's pretty creamy and milky and bland. It has fruity notes which is a nice change of pace since most places kind of pass that point and go right to being too beany. Overall, it just left me wanting since the flavors were not as bold as I would like. They also serve wine and some sweet and savory eclairs. The service: Also a bit average when I was there, but it is a new place. There didn't seem to be good coordination between the person taking orders and the person making the drinks and serving. We were told that we would just be under the same name since we were at the same table. That makes sense. When the server came out with my drink, she picked up our little name card and asked if we were waiting on anything. Our response was yes since we were waiting on the second drink that was supposed to be on the same name. She then said something like no that's under another name, ran over to the register to check, and then said it's coming, and then she just walked off. It wasn't a bad interaction per se, but it could have been handled better in my opinion. It was a very lackluster experience, but, again, this is a pretty new place. They were friendly enough. The shop: It is very cute. It achieved the French vibe it was going for from before you even walk in, with music playing outside and the sort of cafe style outdoor seating. The inside had a very clean, organized clutter kind of feel. There are also lots of books to read and fresh flowers decorating the place. I think the greatest achievement of this place is the atmosphere it creates, which is pretty unique in the Houston coffeeshop scene. There's also parking which is a big plus in this area. The bottom line: It's a great place, especially if you don't want to be bothered with a lot of young people. It has a bit of a more sophisticated feel with decent enough coffee. Being in my twenties, I may wait a while to come back.

What a great experience that reminds me of an authentic Parisian cafe! The story that the owner tells is that everything in the cafe was imported from France: dishes, silverware, bar top, takes, chairs, and even the tiles on the floor! Very friendly staff and great atmosphere!

I visited Café Poêtes for the first time today and fell in love. The atmosphere is wonderful. You feel like you’re in a Parisian Café. I ordered a lemon meringue eclair that was delightful, along with toast and mint tea. The service was great, the food was great, everything was great. I will be back!

Since this is one of my favorite spots in Houston, I almost don't want to write a review, so this place will stay my little secret... However, I feel this is a must. This place has the most delicious food and coffee. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and very professional. Best service, and super friendly staff.

A great place to hang out have girl time and study. A very Frenchy theme. What could go wrong with hot tea and eclairs? Definitely an Instagram worthy spot. This is in midtown right by Oporto! The places owned by a French husband and wife are very sweet and accommodating. they did not have all of their eclairs out and I told them I was there for a specific kind. They ended up creating that one for me within 5 minutes. They recommended some great tea and I got myself a hibiscus hot tea. The owner also offered take photos of us and being who we are, we needed more than one. A very pit spot and fun place to enjoy each other's company.

Exquisite attention to detail and cozy beyond description. This cafe is a drop of Paris in the heart of Houston. You’ll want to visit time and time again, whether for a cup of coffee and brunch or a glass of wine to end the day.

What an experience! A small group went for high tea service and were thoroughly impressed. The space is welcoming and cozy, while the staff and owner were very friendly and explained in detail all of the numerous items we were about to indulge. It is a pricey experience but you certainly get what you pay for, I definitely recommend if you're looking for something out of the ordinary to do and feel like you've stepped outside of HTX, even for a couple hours. Just be sure and make reservations in advance:) They also offer dinner service, looking forward to trying that soon.
