Authentic and delicious Chinese menu! Flavor was great! Had pork and lamb
Very typical interior - some tables are located a bit too close to the bathroom though…
Will definitely come back to try more items
Got premium food so we got premiums flavors. For Christmas day our family decided to have a feast. We got the Alaskan king crab that was $54 a pound. Our crab was 10 pounds. That and all the other stuff added together made the meal a wonderful experience. Flavors were on point and fresh to the taste. As usual we got so much food I had to clean up the ends of the plates as everyone was getting full. This place is definitely a hidden gem. Initially when you walk in there is a smell from the tank that holds the seafood but very quickly you get used to it in anticipation for the food.
Great place. It was our first time there. We arrived for a quick late lunch, on a Monday. Lots of other places were closed, but the neon sign outside reads "dim sum all day"! No other customers were there at 1:45 but a few locals and maybe staff sitting at a big table together enjoying the afternoon. Friendly, fast service and possibly the best shrimp fried rice I've ever had and great, freshly made dim sum. The shrimp were so perfectly cooked! We'll be back to try some other favorites.
This was our first time at Shanghai restaurant. We tried to go one other time but it was still closed because of Covid. The restaurant was a lot smaller than I expected. We came for dim sum and although the food was very good, you do just order the items off of a menu. They do not push the carts around so you do not get a true dim sum experience. I would not say the waitresses were super friendly but that does lend to a true dim sum experience. We had to ask for water several times and they didn’t refill.
I was very impressed with all of the food though. The portion sizes were very big and everything tasted very good. The shrimp dishes all had large pieces of shrimp. Fried dishes eere fried well - not too greasy and steamed dishes were nice and hot. We got the little piggy buns just for grins. We had 7 adults and we ordered A LOT of food (packed up 3 Togo boxes) and the price was very reasonable.
We will definitely come here again.
Update: still delicious
Delicious dim sum place hidden in the corner!
Located inside the complex that houses HMart, Shanghai restaurant has all day dim sum. The service was fast and the food was tasty.
Our favorites from here are the turnip cakes, which was thick and hardy, pan fried just right, the egg custard buns, which were colored yellow and in the shape of a piggy face.
Everything else were great as well; we didn't have a bad dish and we ordered 7-8 items off the dim sum menu.
There was also no wait here for dim sum on a Sunday. This was our first time coming but won't be our last!
reasonably priced dim sum in a smaller casual atmosphere. if you want to avoid the the crowds at some of the other over crowded places, you can get your dim sum in a low key friendly place.

This place is okay. I'd even say good but we tried many dishes and end up finding surprisingly little to say about them. It's a VERY authentic (for better or worse) dim sum restaurant that accomplishes what it does. Some of the highlights worth noting from out dinner include:
- The cheung fun is thinner than usual, more akin to a Vietnamese bánh cuốn than cheung fun you'd find elsewhere. Whether you prefer this is up to you.
- The chicken feet are very good! They are seasoned well, substantial, and have enough edible cartilage to make an actual meal and not just make you feel like gnawing on bones like a certain animal.
- Durian puff is A++ if you like durians. The pastry part is fairly thin, not too sweet and the dish is mostly made up of real durian paste inside. It also has a nice pandan flavor.
- On the other hand, the beef tripe is... not great. It felt old or perhaps simmered too long, where most of the fat rendered and became overwhelming while simultaneously softening the texture. The beef tripe felt very tough yet not crunchy like it usually is.
- The gai lan is frankly overpriced (SP grade for a plate of greens? C'mon) and the oyster sauce that comes with it is WAAAAAAY too salty.
All in all, a good place if you just want some dim sum lol.
FRESH FRESH FRESH DIM SUM 🥟
If you’re looking to get stuffed with dim sum, this is the place. Prices are reasonable, staff service is expectational, and the quality of food is delicious.

How lucky I am to catch up on such a special Chinese Festival show!!! You can find the owner does put full of him/ her love in this little but cute business. And, the food tastes so good that you would wonder if you're traveling in Guangdong, China, or Texas, the USA. Highly recommend it!!!
One word to describe the dim sum: yummy.
Its hard for me to try other dim sum here in Bellaire since I always have my favorite ones I like to frequent and I think this one may easily become my favorite dim sum spot. Its good quality, fresh, and has a lot of variety. The only thing is I think the Turnip cake could be fried a little longer, however my little girl loved it and ate 2 pieces (it came in 3 pieces). The price is very affordable and you can order a lot without breaking the bank account. Definitely my new dim sum hangout.
Solid affordable dim sum. Smaller place and very quiet on a Sunday evening. Everything was hot and fresh. Beef balls were perfectly cooked and the sesame balls were slightly larger than other places. Wasn't a huge fan of the beef Curry puffs but glad I tried those and the mala cake which was pretty good.
Small place for dim sum, gets crowded but not much of a wait as there's good turnover. The crispy curry beef puff was phenomenal. The pork buns are good, but a little smaller than most places. There are good vegetarian options if you want that for some reason. Right next to H Mart so you don't have to shop hungry.
Mom and Pop restaurant, Wonton (only)is definitely a five star, standard dim sum items
