Omg, the applewood bacon, dates, and goat cheese empanada is delicious! If you don’t know what to choose, get this and thank me later. Something about this combination makes a surprising sweet treat that will make your day.
The Alfajor from Argentina was awesome. If you are in the Houston downtown tunnel system and you looking for something sweet then 5411 empanadas is a great place to visit.
This is unique find in the Tunnels and definitely worth a shot. I recommend the Meat options with malbec beef being the winner on the list. Honorable mention goes to the chicken curry and the bacon/date (interesting is likely the right word). It is great that the empanadas or not saucy but well spiced and thoughtfully sized. Order 2 for a reasonable lunch, 3 if you are really hungry and 4+ if you are a Texan
I had a dozen empanadas delivered and they didn't have two available, I ordered online, and a lady that worked there called. She was extremely professional and polite and I have to say these empanadas are amazing! So far my favorite I've tried is the bacon, dates, and goat cheese one! You have to try this place
I ordered the 3 empanada lunch for 10 bucks. I chose spinach and cheese and beef empanadas. Omg delicious!! I could eat here everyday. The salsa was fresh and drinkable.
They were small but filling, and full of flavor. Very yummy lunch!
Part of me doesn't want to leave a review because I don't want them to get too busy :) This place is wonderful, service was relatively fast, though they only have one cashier's station and what appears to be one or two people doing all of the cooking. There is only seating in the restaurant for four people, so plan on taking your food to go (there are plenty of tables and chairs in the various food courts). The price is very reasonable, lunch was less than fifteen bucks for a very filling meal. The menu is simple to understand and all of the flavors I tried were delicious. The "red hot" sauce is not at all spicy, so don't be scared of it. I went right at noon at only had to wait about 5 minutes from getting in line before I had the food in my hands.
Limited lunch hours like most of the restaurants in the tunnels. I enjoyed the Malbec beef and spinach and cheese flavors.
So very yummy! I tried the spinach & cheese, bacon, dates, & cheese, and the banana & nutella.. I loved them all! They are a bit small so order 3 or 4 to get you from one meal to the next. I can't wait to try some of the other flavors!
I have searched a few places and these are some of the best empanadas in the city. It makes sense, since that is all they do, but their empanadas are so tasty they have little need to expand (though now they have flan.)
Probably my greatest testimonial is that every empanada has the potential to be your favorite. I usually try rotate eating one of each of the meats and a Mac and cheese, always leaving happy.
You have to pay attention or you will walk right by this place, there is no sign, no tables that scream restaurant or foodery and the graphics on the glass are hard to see. The empanadas are really good and very fresh. Reasonably priced for a light lunch. Try a variety of flavors and sauces to make it a customized experience each visit.
Provided a catering tray of breakfast Empanadas for our meeting in One Shell Plaza. The empanadas were amazing! Highly recommend the banana nutella, beef, and bean/chorizo. Thank you for the fast and delicious service. Everyone loved the food, and I appreciate the great service.
Ran across this hidden gem in the downtown tunnels out of all places! Really cute storefront, very simple yet aesthetically pleasing. (That wood though!!)
They offer over 15 kinds of empanadas! They are priced well individually, however I really recommend you go for a combo if you're here for lunch. They offer a breakfast combo (Rise & Shine) for $6 that includes 2 empanadas of your choice plus a coffee OR a drink. They have 2 lunch combos, the difference being Quick Lunch 1 has one less empanada than Quick Lunch 2. Both combos offer a drink OR chips of your choice as well as 2 sauces, either Chimichurri or Red Hot.
I chose Quick Lunch 1 and had the Malbec Beef, Spinach & Cheese, & Caramelized Onion & Parmesan empanadas and both sauce choices! I really enjoyed the Red Hot sauce a lot, it’s really not that spicy but adds the right amount of kick and flavor!
Malbec Beef is my favorite by far! I can’t wait to try all of their empanadas. Will be back for sure!
