Even though our overnight stay in Cuyahoga Valley National Park was a quick one, good food was still part of the equation. Although the park itself is pretty desolate, it’s only a 15 minute drive from Hudson, Ohio, a charming and historic suburban town (Cleveland is roughly 35 miles away). So with charming and historic come plenty of worthy food options.
Great place, food is consistently good. Service is extraordinary but as most of the restaurants in the area there is missing the WOW factor

A Truly Fine Dining Experience. I have been to Downtown 140 probably 10 times aver the past few years - while it was under previous ownership and under the current ownership. I've been there late at night, early at night, on weekends and on weekdays. The owner (Andy) and his bar manager (Sara) seem like they are always there tending to the place, a practice that I have almost always found to be essential to a well-run and successful dining establishment that has diners coming back over and over again. My guests and I have always enjoyed the experience, even my hoighty-toighty sister-in-law from Connecticut.
For starters, I usually order a Grey Goose martini, up, with blue cheese olives and no Vermouth. This is served in a large martini glass (5-inch diameter at the rim) and is filled to overflowing, representing a terrific value by any standard. For a change of pace, I have had the grapefruit martini and some of their other specialty martinis - all deliciously thirst-quenching and slightly numbing to the cheeks.
I don't eat oysters but my friends who do have raved about the oysters; my ex-wife even placed a second order once for the Oysters Rockefeller, perhaps, since I was buying, to get even with me for being such a tightwad during our marriage. I've had the croque monsiuer, devils on horseback, and pork belly, all delicious.
From salmon and scallop specials to the lamb osso bucco, the entrees are carefully prepared by the experts in the kitchen and are creatively and artfully presented. I have not found the entrees to be too small like some of the other reviewers, but then I have a BMI of under 25 and perhaps am not so inclined to judge a meal by its volume. Or perhaps, the 200 calories I took in from the 3 ounces of vodka in the martini suppressed my appetite.
I generally don't eat desserts so I can't comment on those.
A few final comments - Andy is always friendly and appropriately attentive without being the list bit overbearing - he makes you feel good that you came in. On weekends I always go early, shortly after the restaurant opens for dinner, and have never had a problem being seated and served in a manner that allows for the leisurely consumption of food and beverage. The servers are professional, know what they are serving, and will give just the appropriate amount of attention. This is a restaurant that won't take your plate away immediately after you have finished your meal, even though others at the table aren't finished - an unacceptably rude gesture I have witnessed at other fine dining establishments where the wait staff has been inadequately trained.
In short, I love everything about this place!

You should be prepared to order at least an appetizer and entree if you eat here. If you order an entree it is not really a full meal. That being said the food is stellar. Expect to spend about $30-75 per person and you won't be upset. I consider this a special occasions restaurant for myself and my wife
Always a treat. Whenever visiting friends in Akron, we always make it a point to go out of our way and visit Downtown140. Sophisticated, sexy atmosphere, good service, delicious food. The French fried artichokes always hit the mark. One of the few places that get Oysters Rockefeller right, too. -- I highly recommend a visit to Downtown140. Oh, and a grapefruit martini...Gotta have one, or two.
I had an excellent meal with my mother on Mother's Day. The food was spectacular. The atmosphere was beyond pleasant. Our server, a funny young man, was quite helpful in understanding the menu. We will be returning.

Above average. I have eaten all over Hudson. The food here is delicious. I would go as far as to say the best that the town has to offer The live music is a nice change of pace. If you are there early in the week you don't have to deal with an over crowded mess or snotty children running around. You can eat small plates here and get out the door for as little as $30 or $40 depending on how much you like to drink. (I have never gotten out the door for $40 or less). Definitely not the place to go if you are feeling light in the pockets.

Wonderful Experience!. This was my second trip to Downtown 140. This time I took my wife. It is a very cozy and inviting restaurant. It is nestled in Hudson's historic district, right on Main St. We walked in and were warmly greeted. The hostess gladly checked our coats. We were seated at a comfortable table right next to the live music (Holiday Jazz). We started with the charcuterie plate for two. It was a great pairing of duck liver pate, pork pate, and prosciutto along with goat cheese and maytag blue cheese. There were also crispy baguette chips, thinly sliced apple, olive tapenade , onion jam, and coarse mustard. Very good pairings. For the main course, I ordered the hanger steak. It was cooked to perfection and topped with a red wine sauce and house made salsa verde. It also came with a side of frites which were very crispy. They were perfect to soak up the extra sauce and juices from the steak. My wife ordered the chicken breast. It was a whole bone-in breast also cooked to perfection (crispy on the outside and very moist inside). It was seasoned very well (not too salty). My wife is very picky about her chicken and this one was one of her all time favorites.
I have to say that once again, Downtown 140 exceeded my expectations. We will definitely be visiting again. I recommend you do too if you're in the Hudson area. If you're not in the Hudson area, make the trip there since you will find it very worthwhile.
Nice dining experience with an upscale feel to it Never saw devil eggs before as an appetizer but it work. Good place to take business clients in the area (Hudson, Stow, Twinsburg or Streetsboro).
Awesome Place. This place is getting better and better. The menu choices are very creative with things like deviled eggs, stuffed figs, and other tasty treats. Great glass pour wine selection as well. We will be having a bridal party here in July and we can't wait to have the whole place to ourselves!
The menu is similar in price to what you would find at Parallax. I ordered the Crispy Chicken which rivaled Zach's chicken at Parallax; it was that good. It was a perfectly cooked chicken breast with a crispy outside that was absolutely loaded with flavor
Sat at the bar. The server was so nice! This food was phenomenal. I really cannot express how delicious everything was. Pictures is hangar steak, mushroom ravioli and thick cut fries as app. We happened in here on accident and seriously the best dinner I have had in a decade.
1st time here. Which is always interesting. Arrived super hungry and ready for our 1st date night in a while. Got the pork belly app which was crispy, sweet porky goodness on a plate, and hit every note (top 10 best apps Ive ever had). Wife got the hanger and I the airline. Both cooked to perfection with excellent flavor profiles (chx was crispy & moist). Drinks were good as well. Only request is more non seafood app items. Well be back. Cheers!!!
A friend and I enjoyed some delicious holiday cocktails at Uptown 140 (the upstairs cocktail bar of Downtown 140) last week. The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the bartender was terrific! It is definitely a place I'd come to again for a drink with my husband or a group of friends!
I’m shocked I hadn’t left a review before now (my fault). I highly recommend Downtown 140. Came here over two years ago for a company holiday party and it was spectacular. We were handled with the best care from planning the event night through execution! The owner and the head chef, hands down are two of the nicest, professional, yet down to earth men you will ever encounter. I was so taken back by that evening my younger sister and I went back for their New Years Eve event which did not at all disappoint. They have the BEST risotto and the cheesecake is literally to die for!!!! Thinking about bringing a friend to celebrate her 40th birthday. Regardless, I will definitely be back. So glad this restaurant is surviving the pandemic.
Now this is real fine dining. The food and service are outstanding from start to finish. Really love the octopus appetizer. Great creativity and absolutely punch you in the mouth types of flavor. I thought the atmosphere was cool, loved the decor and setting. You really should go here before any other place in downtown Hudson. It might become your new favorite restaurant.
I had an amazing experience while in town for work I got there close to closing time and they fit me in to eat after a long day of work and no place really open to go eat the Lobster bisque was amazing and full of flavor best part was the chunks of actual lobster meat The mahi-mahi was also outstanding perfect crust in the sauce with the little bit of sweet was a perfect fit and the bartender also knows what she’s doing I asked for a rum drink that was sweet and she hit it on the spot awesome place to go with amazing flavors and you have to try the desert The chocolate flourless torte was also amazing with the vanilla bean cream I’m not sure exactly what it was but it was great
