"House of Kabob" is one of those "hole-in-the-wall" ethnic joints you might find in the west 40's of Hell's Kitchen... like in the brutalist shadow of the Port Authority Bus Terminal, only this one is on Sparkman Drive in the lee of the University overpass. The analogy comes to mind because I have found similar joints in the canyons of Manhattan - a busy counter even when empty, sonorous Farsi ballads wafting from a tape deck, and an avuncular owner prideful of his own slice of the Dream. In a way, House of Kabob is a lot like Tony's Little Italy - the 1990's one in the trailer park behind the airport that sold Sathers marshmellows with your pink pasta alfredo in a pie-crust dish - with Tony and his wife cooking up a come-and-go-lately Huntsville legend on a shoestring. I've often tried to grill chelow kabobs myself, but far from being Persian, mine tended to crumble and resemble things unflattering. At House of Kabob you can get authentic Persian kabobs - chicken, lamb, beef - served on a bed of turmeric and saffron rice with cucumber yogurt and a grilled fresh tomato. The prices are quite reasonable especially given the serving sizes, and the complimentary barley soup was sublime enough to feel like I was the one that was tipped. If you've wanted more food choices for Huntsville, House of Kabob is a choice you should be making.
I worked with an older Persian gentleman (he didn't like being called Iranian). He would bring Persian food and share it with us. House of Kabob has brought that food back. My husband had the kobideh kabob (beef) and I had the bakhtiari (chicken and lamb). We were brought lentil soup since it was taking a while to pack up our order to go. It was good, nice flavor and texture. When we got home I found a delightful surprise....tahdig (I think that's right), Persian crispy rice! Just like my friend from work made. The kabobs were good, the basmati rice was good, the yogurt sauce was perfect. House of Kabob is definitely going to be a regular place for lunch.
Exceptional food and service! The chicken is as good as any kabob place you'll find in NYC, and the lamb is the best I've had anywhere out there. The rice texture is perfect too. Overall a wonderful addition to town. One suggestion:
open for dinner sometime, this would be a great hipster date place!
Incredibly friendly staff (I assume they are the owners) and awesome food. The vegetarian option, a sort of stew made from eggplant and tomatoes, is great and served with perfectly cooked basmati rice. Charming place.
This place was yummy!!! I can't wait to go back very soon! I had the Beef Kabob with rice and Barley Soup! The soup was like a warm hug. I could take a gallon home!! The beef was full of flavor and tender! The rice was perfectly seasoned! If you've never had Persian food don't be afraid to try it. It's a simple menu easy to order from. The owner and staff were very warm and welcoming.
Went and tried this place with my dad for the first time today for lunch. The staff was very friendly, and the food was excellent! I had the #1. The lamb was seasoned perfectly, and the chicken was savory and tender, and was cooked in a sauce that was just outright delectable!
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some good, authentic Halal right here in Huntsville!

Wonderful experience. Clean environment. Delicious food and warm and welcoming staff. Highly recommend.
Came in with my husband and was blown away by the hospitality, decor, quality and quantity of food at deli prices. I had the lentil soup because I'm not feeling well and it cleared my sinuses right up. Husband let me try his kabob and it was much more flavourful than anywhere comparable in this area. Would highly recommend.
Great service and better food
We will definitely visit again!
Great food, great service, and management is very personable with all of their customers.
Excellent service and excellent food. I felt as if I was a guest in the home of a great host. Definitely recommend!
We tried the lamb and chicken kabobs at the Annual International Festival at UAH. The food was fantastic. The baklava was very good, too. We'll definitely be coming to eat.
This place is bringing incredible Persian food to Huntsville. And all of their entrees are so filling! I am coming back!!
This place is too good. Huntsville is lucky. Ay val
Had the lamb and chicken kabobs and they are super flavorful! Come by and try it for sure!
Food was very good! Got the #1 and an order of hummus and it was tons of food!
Looking forward to going back go try everything they have to offer!
Fantastic, authentic place. Locally owned and operated by actual persians set in a cozy place that's reminiscent of home for them. I've been to Persian restaurants in Chicago, New York, Atlanta, and beyond but this place has the best food at the most reasonable prices. They cook your food to order and give you ample servings of lentil soup, saffron rice, roasted vegetables, and sides to go with it. Their tea is second to none; I could drink my weight in it. I will definitely return to this hidden gem! Also, this place is super vegetarian-friendly!
The food quality and service was great , reasonable price and nice interior design, they went above and let us get our foods even after restaurant hours
Delicious food and great service. Went there today and had the best hummus and lentil soup of my life. I also tried the kebab plate and it was delicious. Will 100% be coming back here.
#4 & #8 on the menu were outstanding! The lentil soup it's the best I've ever had. And the service is always very pleasant.
Every time I travel to a new city I look up a Persian restaurant, they are few and far between. This one is a hidden gem! Flavor was wonderful and on point. Prices are very reasonable, three of us ate for under 50 dollars and had food left over
The friendliest and most authentic Iranian cuisine you can ask for. This is a small business that deserves all the support.
Very good food, more than we could eat. $27.50 for two.
