It was a beautiful building in a great location. The exhibits were fantastic and very informative. The special exhibit of Westerns was great. Then there was a fun free summer concert out on the patio that was terrific. Great experience.

There are beautiful paining sand sculptures at the museum. They also have many very nice pieces of turquoise jewelry in the gift shop for purchase. The Rail displays at Christmas time are a sight not to be missed.

I visited in Fall 2002, and still recall what an enriching experience the Eiteljorg was . . . the glorious collection of Western art on the first floor, and the galleries showcasing the stunning diversity of Native American artifacts on the upper floor. And then seeing the temporary exhibit that included an overview of missionary schools. I am so eager to get back there!

Amazing place to visit if you want to learn about the American Indians, artwork by them as well as by other great artists. I was blown away with all the historical items held here including a wigwam and tipi. Not to be missed if in Indianapolis!!

We were guests for an evening Gala. The whole evening was first class. We browsed the galleries, especially appreciated the basket collection. Appetizers with cocktails and dinner was amazing. Music and speeches were very entertaining. Enjoyed by all!

I drove from west central Ohio to visit here on a whim because I love museums, on Friday September 15th. My family and I were greeted by a volunteer who gave us a history of the building, very nice man and to know the history of the museum. The art was amazing on the first floor and I even enjoyed the kids area. The 2nd floor was really neat for me, especially in the Miami exhibit as they had a section on the treaty of Greenville. Overall a great experience and a great way to spend the afternoon. Also the building itself was beautiful!

The Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians and Western Art represents one of Indianapolis' jewels with its exquisite collections and beautiful design, both interior and exterior. If you live in Indiana or are traveling from elsewhere, the Eiteljorg is a must-see on your museums and other attractions list.

Beautiful Museum. Quiet, clean, lots of space, and seating around to sit and study the art. Very kid friendly, with little activities spread throughout. Great experience!

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. The staff was rather stalkerish. I'm a Black woman with 10 tattoos. Nine of them were visible. I guess I stood out. Nonetheless they were very friendly and helpful. The display rooms are very deceptive in size. Just when you think you're at the end another nook and cranny pops up for you to explore. Whoever designed the second floor was also a master of deception. Rooms that look tiny open up when you turn the corner. I was happily exhausted by the time my phone died and I could no longer take pictures. There's a very interesting film playing that you have to listen to. It's different native people speaking about the art they create. I will return to this museum. If you love beautiful native art and history and you're in Indianapolis check them out.

The museum is fascinating ESPECIALLY for the Native American floor! I found this museum on Google while trying to find fun things to do in IN… I really wish more places throughout the US dedicate more exhibitions to Native and the Indigenous communities that exist throughout North America. I learned soo much about their cultures and their history. And am eager to learn more…

Our first trip to this museum and we all loved it! Definitely more of a look and don't touch kind of museum. I also asked about kid classes upfront, but they had never heard of that type of thing. We homeschool and many places offer a once a month or every other week classes to get a little more in depth and hands on with the material. Generally they are an extra charge, but usually $10-$15 a class. So I would be interested in these type of classes at the Eiteljorg, or offering suggestions on types they could do.

We really enjoyed Jingle Rails! Beautiful display and not crowded. Our 2 year old son enjoyed the interactive area in the basement too. We will go back again next Christmas.

I had never been, in all the time it has been around. Throughly enjoyed the Changing Views: The Photography of Dorothea Lange exhibit. It got me in the door to experience it, as well as the rest of the museum. Loved the kids interactive area on the lower level. My niece is 12 and still got into playing the role of cantina waiter and riding the pony. It was time well spent.

Beautiful artwork throughout. The facility is gorgeous, and the thoughtful arrangements of the exhibits is tasteful. Simple, interesting and sophisticated. The stories of the people and the beauty of the art make this a great place to spend a morning. I am glad we visited this museum.

We came for the holiday themed trains and were really impressed! They put a ton of detail in to each set, and it's great to see how they've recreated so many pieces of iconic American landscapes. Our kids really liked walking around and exploring the different scenes. Speaking of kids, the downstairs kids area of the museum is great for little ones. They have lots of hands-on toys that are perfect for younger kids. They would have spent hours down there! Also, parking is free if you park in the main underground garage and get your ticket validated in the museum.

Beautiful exhibits. You'd need a whole day for this visit. Wonderful learning experience. We walked out appreciating the Indian culture even more than we've had before (in the past, visited many cultural sites in the Western and Eastern states). This is a great place to start when exploring the life and culture of different tribes in Indiana. Also, we got to see the Andy Warhol's exhibit, which was very interesting - I've always wondered what was his connection to American Indians.

The Eiteljorg is great! I’ve been four or five times and always enjoy it. ‘The Twins,’ is my favorite painting there and always makes me smile. Great mustaches on those guys. My kids had a great time too. On the last visit they had added wooden puzzles of a few of the paintings which my younger children really enjoyed.
