Awesome place! Fast and friendly staff. Amazing beer selection and a diverse menu of fresh, hot food. Talented live music every weekend and events every day of the week. Cannot recommend enough!
Favorite place to go when I’m in town. The atmosphere is very homey and everything they serve is amazing. Even though it is half a bar it’s still a very family friendly place that welcomes everyone. The people are what really makes it the great place it is! I would recommend everyone to go visit!

I absolutely love books and brews. It's kid friendly, so that is a huge plus!, We always have so much fun when we go, and the staff is always so kind to my son. I have not had a single bad experience there. They are always extremely accommodating and kind. We will definitely continue to go. Highly recommend you check it out!

This place is wonderful! The beers and ciders on tap are delicious. If you like grilled cheese, theirs is one of the best I've ever had. And I'm from Wisconsin, so I've tried a LOT of grilled cheese sandwiches in my time.

Great place to see local talent, enjoy local craft beer done very well, local wines, and also a great place to bring the kids. They have games, books, music and a variety of activities.
This place is wonderful. My friends and I go all the time to play board games. The staff are super friendly and helpful. The beer is great too. The only thing they could do to make me love this place more is to add a vegan entree item. They have hummus, but there is only so much of that my fiancé and I want to eat!
My husband and I visited BnB back when they very first opened the Mothership. At that time, it was okay, but we didn't go back for a couple years, then this last year, on a whim, I bought a Groupon for a date night to give them another try after seeing so much positive feedback from others locally. I am SO glad we did. If you're around my age, or just a couch-potato, then you'll remember Cheers, the bar where everyone knows your name. BnB reminds me of that because we know the people who work at Mothership now, and they know us. Not only is their beer TOP-NOTCH, the food is good too. The menu is small, but quality, and we are content to imbibe and enjoy every time we go, which is pretty regularly these days. It's wonderful having a feeling of community in as populated area as we live, and being able to feel like our money is well-spent and appreciated.
HIGHLY recommend for anyone not looking for a cooker-cutter place.

Great little hole in the wall. A good selection of beer & friendly staff. Just enough space to read or do your own thing. Some folks were playing board games, some were reading, and others were doing trivia. Worth a try.
I love Books & Brews! It has a nice cozy and relaxed atmosphere. You can bring your own games to play or buy one of the games in their shop. They also have fun trivia and open mic nights.
I fell in love with this place for the second I walked in.
They have a gaming station as well as a lot of books to browse.
The beer selection was not a lot in terms of quantity but the quality was great. I tried two IPA’s and both were superb.
We bought 3 pop funkos, 2 books and many beers for under $100.
I recommend a visit 10/10! We will be back. 👍🏼
First time here but won't be the last. Very chill place to come after work and the bar tenders were super helpful and friendly. Loved the nerd atmosphere and great beer. The pretzel and beer cheese was delicious! Can't wait to come back!
Nice little place. Live music on nights. Karaoke on some. Very nice adult beverages to avail yourself of should you choose to. The place had a nice warm atmosphere and only got better as the night progressed.
The food that is available also deserves a solid 8.
I went for open mic. It was awesome! The staff was also real friendly and helpful. Book prices can't be beat, and a great selection of wine and beer, if that's your thing. The bathrooms were beautiful. I felt like a part of a fabulous community, even if but for a short while. Nice art, too.
We have stupendous service here. Best selection of Pokemon cards in the area. They have karaoke the last Friday in the month. Beer selection is always exceptional. Fantastic place to take the family.
Cute shop with a bar inside. We didn't try any drinks, but enjoyed looking at the books, games, and trading cards. Staff was helpful.

This place is great. My daughter and I went there for lunch. The outside is easy to find. Inside, we immediately began browsing the thousands of books to read and for sale, as well as the hundreds of games to play. There is also a variety of items for sale ranging from t-shirts, to cups and mugs, to random novelties. The kiddo picked 3 games: sorry, exploding kittens, and battleship, although we only had time for half of battleship. I have to note the first card game she selected was a variation of cards against humanity, except with a different name...... mom: 1, spawn:0. That was all just in the first room...
In the other two rooms there is tables and books in one and a bar in the other. It has a super laid back atmosphere that I really enjoy. The bar serves different fruit flavored sodas that you can get virgin or cider style. They also had a decent looking beer menu. To eat for lunch, I ordered a grilled cheese and fruit cup. I received the chips instead, but they were good, plus I got a pickle, and the grilled cheese was delicious. Between the fact that the bartender was super nice and helpful, and even gave me a free meal coupon for next time (I believe this to be common practice for new customers) I have to keep 5 stars. C'mon Google, why can't we do half ratings! To wrap it up nicely, I had a blue rasberry virgin soda to drink. The little one finished every bite of her cheese pizza and drop of her cherry soda. I also bought her two books, and since kids ate free today I only spent $25. We will be returning.
Very enjoyable place to have a tasty drink and snack, play games and peruse a great collection of fun literary paraphenalia and used books. At the time we were there, they also had a bingo game going on in the family room. Sounded like the players were having a lot of fun!
A hidden gem! This is a fun place to post up for an evening if you're feeling like playing board games or video games with friends. They have a full service bar and dinner items, excellent craft beer. They have different events going on throughout the week too! If you're in the area and looking for something fun to do, this is the place.
This place is so neat! The beers were good and the vibes were immaculate. Definitely recommend for a chill Saturday excursion. Would definitely want to come back and see the live music!
Books and Brews was absolutely phenomenal! I love this concept of a library themed brewpub. They serve a small menu of excellent pub food. The staff is very friendly and you could tell their passion was beer and books. If you venture to North Indianapolis, please check this place out... It is well worth the trip. (it is a little out of the way depending on which way you go, keep looking, you'll find it)
One of the best spots in Indy. Good food, good drinks, and a one of a kind atmosphere that is perfectly cozy. I go once every 14 days or so to play card / board games.
Still a favorite place to go. Always a lot of fun and great place to just hang out and visit. Very tasty beer selection and good munchies. And a new selection of beers. They're wonderful!
One of my favorite places to meet with friends! Combines a used bookstore and games with a bar. Staff is very friendly and the small plates are delicious. They serve food as well.

Stopped in for food and a drink, never been here before. Ordered a Return of the King. (Fancy grilled cheese). It was served grilled on only one side (not even buttered on the other) and was room temp.
I went to the kitchen ( that's the size of a closet really), and asked if they only grill one side. Was told "normally, but that's just the way that one came out.. the top of the grills not really working".
It came out the 2nd time almost as undercooked as the first.
You deserve the 1 star.
EDIT: went back in September 2021. Kitchen equipment has been upgraded and the issues resolved. Much friendlier staff here now. Ive upgraded you to 3 stars

Really busy evening, but the staff worked as quickly as possible, and were really friendly as they did so. Good food, good beer, and good music on a Saturday night.
I stopped in for the Valentine's Day deal - a delicious grilled cheese and a soup for $12.99. Everything tried during the visit included: two beers (Hophiker's Guide to the Galaxy, Cream & Punishment); the classic grilled cheese; a pretzel with beer cheese; wings; and coleslaw. The portions were huge, and the food was absolutely amazing. I can't even nit-pick something to try to complain about (even if I wanted to - which I don't). Also, I definitely have to mention how top-notch the service was. This is going to become one of my favorite places - I can already tell. I can't wait to go back.
