Mostly vegetarian but a few chicken dishes. Tasty stuff. Not spicy (hot) but bursting with taste and flavor. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu. All you can eat. Includes desert. Everything was great.
Excellent!!. Other negative reviews complaining about parking in Broadripple is lame. Broadripple parking is what it is.
The food at Shalimar is amazing. Easily my favorite Indian restaurant. We drive hours to get here. It doesn't disappoint.
Buffet Baby. This is one of my favorite Indian places to go for the buffet. There is always a great variety of veggie and non-veggie items being served. Including three types of bread, and if you're lucky samosas. Service is always friendly, and drinks are kept topped up. It's a small space, and parking is, well, you're in Broad Ripple. Complaining about parking in Broad Ripple (like some of the reviewers) is like complaining about all the cars at rush hour. You are where you are, and deal with it. I can't comment on the actual menu other than what I've experienced from the buffet. I'd say everything has been "mediumed down" for the less adventurous, but that's pretty typical of most Indian buffets in town. Get some chutney and spice it up yourself.
Loved it! My husband and I went for a rare dinner without the kids and fell in love! Our food was awesome and the service superb, we will definitely be back.
A Favorite for Take Out. Though some may say that the decor is tired, it seems to me that decor is not what an Indian restaurant is all about. Though there are flashy styles I prefer that they focus on the wonderful curries, the delicious breads (Naan), and the well spiced dishes that I frequently take home after a long day. Their vindaloo is near perfect and the wonderful sides are well spiced and touched with just enough acidity to brighten every dish. Keep is simple and the quality shines through.
Anything but tasteless!!!. I recently visited shalimar to see if there were any different dishes from their other restaurant, India Palace. I was surprised to find a slightly smaller selection but a few different items that were equally tasty and of the finest quality of any Indian buffet I've been too... It's a bit farther to drive but a nice change and the are has so much to offer I'm certain I'll be back soon.
Great lunch buffet with a frequent diner card! Love their food and service. More buffet offerings than some of Indy's other Indian lunch buffets.
LOVED IT!. My husband and I took our three-year-old with us to Shalimar for dinner. (It was quite a while ago so I don't remember the names of the dishes. I am pretty sure it was the non-vegetarian Thali...) My daughter and I just love the Mango Lassies (and they are good for us too!) My family ordered a platter that was a special and it was SOOOOO GOOD! I cannot express how much my family enjoyed it.
We went back on another occasion for the brunch. My meal was pretty good (because I constantly choose the 'wrong thing') but my husband's was excellent (he is a chef with a great palette who seems to always choose the 'right thing' by eating only traditional foods and ingredients...)
The server was hilarious (in a very serious way). We wanted spicy food and he asked my husband three times just to make sure we REALLY meant spicy. (I still laugh about it!)
I cannot wait to go back!
Hmmm lunch buffet. My wife and I were always searching for the indian gem closer to Geist.... but could nevr really find it. We love the extra 15-20 min drive down to Broad ripple to sample some excellent service... even if it is only one server!!! while also having the best indian in town!!!
I've always had good service here, and they have a frequent diners card to earn free lunches, which is nice. I prefer nearby India Garden because my favorite dish, saag or palak (spinach), is better prepared. Shalimar puts green peppers in it. Shalimar has a better selection of desserts on the buffet usually, and there's a parking lot. You may need to walk 2+ blocks to get from your car to India Garden. Also, IG has a step, so I don't think it's wheelchair accessible...Shalimar definitely is wheelchair accessible.
Good!!. Went there this past week with a good friend of mine, and the food was solid if unspectacular. Not overly spice, and a fair price for lunch. I would go again.
Favorite Indian Food in INDY. I just love this place for lunch. Great service and a chance to get nicely prepared Indian food. Everyone should try it.
Special Note: They give out lunch cards for frequent visitors. After so many lunches, you get one for free. You can't beat that.

Good indian in indy. The food at shalimar has been consistent for several years now. every dish is what you can expect from a good urban indian restaurant. the service is average. the prices are good.

Decided to try this place after a recommendation. Service was quick and on point. Hands down. The food was super fresh and was somewhat seasoned down for the consumer. My experience with Chicken Tikka Marsala was somewhat of a thicker sauce. But it was flavorful and spicy according to request. The nann was super fresh and we had some chips that’s started with a “P” I believe which were also pretty amazing. Atmosphere was ok. Alotnof door dash/Uber eats drivers in and out so it felt like we were at a carry out and decided to sit down.
Stopped in today for the first time. The food was excellent as well as the service. I will definitely make this a go to restaurant!
I had lunch there for the first time. I enjoyed every minute of it. The lentil was very delicious compared to other lentil soups I have tasted. And we ordered garlic, naan bread, as well as the vegetarian eggplant dish. It turned out so well. The variety of flavors that I tasted and smelled even though I can’t smell very well and taste very well was delightful today! Great job Shalimar!
This has been my favorite for a long time. Such great food and service. I really miss the buffet though. Best masala tea in town!

My family gets take out here once and awhile. The staff is kind and efficient. I was able to call in to order for 6-8 people and they had it ready for us at 5pm right when they open. We had all the correct food and it all tasted amazing! Definitely our favorite Indian food restaurant!
This place has the tastiest Indian food in the city! The staff is very friendly and helpful. The prices are very reasonable and the space is cozy. I haven't tried anything there yet I haven't loved ❤️
This place is an absolute gem. The food is AMAZING. We had Chicken Tikka Masala and Saag Paneer and of course the best garlic naan you will ever taste in your life. Didn’t get the vegetable samosas this time but also a must try.

The food was amazing and the service was delightful. I wanted to try something new and I was led to a very delicious vegetable fritter dish(Sorry I can't remember the name of the dish). So many vegetarian options. It made my life so easy. In most restaurants I have to order a regular meal minus the meat but not here. Their vegetarian menu is probably the biggest section of the menu. I love this place and I will be back.
