I love this chinese is the best, hot and sour soup in unmatched.  I hate their hours are very restricted.  But I eat there when I can.  Try the empress or princess chicken, sweet and delicious.

Consistently GOOD FOOD, GREAT VALUE ( RUDE WAITRESS ALL THE TIME). We been eating here for maybe almost 4yrs. Dinner specials is a good value. Always taste good, from the egg roll, egg drop soup, hot and sour soup down to the main course. We always have left over to take out which is equivalent for another meal for two. Waitress 2 of them are consistently very rude and unfriendly. I think you have to give them a fortune big time tip for them to be nice you. Thats what I thought. manager is always nice regardless, even when they're busy. Place is overdue for renovation or make over. Food is Excellent! Still I highly recommend.

I'll be back. Tonight was our first time to dine at Yen Ching (East Washington Street). I especially loved the spinach bean curd soup, veggie egg rolls and crabmeat rangoon. My son-in-law, who lived in Mongolia for a year, loved the pork dish he ordered. My grandson loved it all; especially the shrimp in lobster sauce, as did I. From some of the reviews, I was expecting good food in a not-so-good place. The food was good, and the whole experience was a very pleasant one.

My wife usually sneezes multiple times as a result of the high MSG most Chinese restaurants put in there food. She has not sneezed a single time since we completed our meal (almost two hours ago).

Well done Yen Ching!

A very good compromise!. My personal favorite Chinese restaurant is Lotus Garden, but you have to drive all the way to Greenwood, which I don't like. My fiance loved the Hong Kong Inn, but they closed. We have started going to Yen Ching and enjoy it. My personal favorite is the "spicy" orange chicken. The staff is friendly.

Really, Really Good!. I am sooooo happy right now! I just got done eating at Yen Ching. It was so very enjoyable. Started with a big bowl of wonton soup. The broth was very subtle, but the meat inside the wontons was very flavorful and it had bits of bamboo shoots and mushrooms and some dark green leafs. The spicy pork with winter cucumber was fantastic. It was so great to get a dish packed with so much flavor. The sauce was robust and meaty, almost like a gravy. So many Chinese dishes are just left swimming in a sea of horrible sauce which is either way too sweet or way too salty. I cannot say enough good things about this place. Seriously, one of my top 3 Chinese places in Indianapolis.

Good food. Like someone already said, do not look to this place for great decor. The front window signs and knick-knacks look like they've been there since the 60s and 70s, for instance. The food, however, is quite good. This is another place my Chinese American husband was pleasantly surprised by. More authentic dishes than, say, PF Chang's.

Love it. Yen Ching is the best Chinese restaurant in Indy. I've never been to the one on Michigan Rd. but have been going to the E. Washington St. location for many years. True, it's not the fanciest place but the food is awesome. Their hot and sour soup is absolutely the best I have ever had.

Pretty Portions & Savory Satisfaction. It's 100% mom and pop and 100% homemade. What makes Yen Ching perfect is the price for the amount of food you get. Go for lunch and you'll be stuffed with a soup, entrée and side for an wallet-friendly price.

Simply the BEST!. I just want to say if you enjoy Chinese food, you will Love Yen Ching. The place isnt fancy, not very big, and it is tucked away in a strip mall. But the food is delicious, premium ingredients, and generous. I have went to this Yen Ching now 6 timesm 6 different entrees and they have all been amazing. I recommend the EMPRESS Chicken!! Also not on the menu but they make Moogoo Gai Pan, and it is delicious. Their HOT and SOUR soup is the only soup I tried and it was the best I have ever had. Treat yourself to a delicious meal!

GREAT FOOD! Needs remodel desperately. I would rate this Chinese food as the best in Indianapolis. I eat out regularly and money is generally not the main concern. PFChang has a much cleaner environment, but the actual food is what we are describing. Do not look under the tables or in the bathroom, it is a disaster. Chicken Lo Mein and Princess chicken will please even the most refined or picky eater. I challenge anyone to find a better meal for less $$$. Each time I go I pleased with the meal and chuckle at the $26 tab. 'Ms Linda' gives our 5 yr old a hug like we are family. You just can't go wrong here at Yen Ching!

Best Chinese food in Indy. I have going there for years and haven't found any place as good. From the wonderful Crabmeat Rangoon, the delightful hot and sour soup, the devine pot stickers, and a wonderful selection of entrees, it truly is a safe haven for Chinese foodies.

Tried this restaurant on New Year's Day as most restaurants were closed. We love Asian food, so we took a chance, and we were glad we did! Love the Empress Chicken - very much recommended this menu. I have never tried this at any Chinese restaurant, so I can't compare, but the chicken tasted so good with the sauce that came with it. We also had pork dumplings, mongolian beef with onions, beef and vegetables, and shrimp Lo Mein. They all tasted way better than expected. The portions are bigger than most other Chinese restaurants that we have been to. The decor inside the restaurant is interestingly colorful.. it has printed designs of weird looking masks that my kids were kind of scared.. however, overall, it was a good dining experience.

I love well made potstickers.Always get them here as they are good. They have changed their way of serving you the sauce to go with them. Use to be you had soy sauce, spicy oil and vinegar and you mixed your own the way you like it. My wife does like heat as much as I do. Instead they bring a bowl already mixed sauce. I also like a lot of sauce and since we ordered 2 orders we got 2 bowls of sauce. My wife did not want hers so I took it. That was just enough for me with my one order. We also got the string beans which were good but spicier than they use to be. We could not finish them there as mouths got too hot. We took some home. Over all it was good and friendly. Will go again.

A favorite whenever I come back to visit Indy. It's changed a bit over the years, but has retained the family-owned, welcoming vibe that I miss about it when I'm out of town. Will always enjoy coming here with my dad to enjoy the hot tea, soup, and lunch specials.

Princess Chicken was fantastic and Sweet and Sour Chicken was very good too. Potstickers were very yummy. Sodas seemed a bit watered down, but perfectly fizzy. Crab Rangoon was just ok - no visible crab and bland. Service was great! The manager was very nice and the guy who delivered our food and drinks was prompt. We'll definitely be back

This was my first time here. I looked at the menu before I came in and had a pretty good idea of what I wanted. When I came in I was promptly greeted and after letting my server know it was my first time here gave me suggestions on what to get. Service was quick. The food was really good. I guess the only thing I can "complain" about is the fact that they don't have dessert. But really nothing else. Definitely will be back. 10/10 recommend giving them a shot.

Elated to learn they have reopened... after a remodel! Just happened to be driving by and noticed new signage, did a high-speed bat-turn so I could check it out... My new binge Thursday or Friday even! Had a gr8 meal and look forward to many more. I discovered Yen Chings in 1987, and have been a steady customer at this location and the north East side which is now closed:-( there are many Asian restaurants in Indy there is only one Yen Ching. Worth the trip from anywhere in the metro area. Unparalleled reproduction of Chinese cuisine and comfort food. Both my boys were raised on their beef and broccoli, if you can find a better beef and broccoli dish let me know... Mandarin Style, Rich sauces and great service :-) family operated :-) will be back and back and back :-) :-)
