HAPPY HOUR! Call to check for times. Very decent price for sushi in Irvine during happy hours. Their food is not like super wow- but I find myself here from time to time eating alone at the bar after work. It's funny- I normally hate eating by myself especially eating out, but there's something about this place that I enjoy.

A friend and I stopped by, and we were both starving. Thankfully, Izakaya Wasa did not disappoint! I ordered the two item combo, while my buddy ordered specialty rolls (Irvine Roll, anyone?). Both orders were tasty, and very well portioned - I couldn't even finish my tempura, I was so full! Also, for sake aficionados, they offer both filtered AND non-filtered (which I didn't even know existed) and we certainly got our buzz on. Finally, our server Jasmine ('like the princess') was phenomenal; friendly, knowledgeable, beaming smile, and her timing at all points of our dining experience was spot on.

The sushi is yummy and it has never disappointed me. The service is quick and very attentive too, although it's not that cheapest sushi place out there. I would recommend if you're craving some good quality sushi and are willing to spend a bit more than normal.

A friendly local Izakaya that does exactly what you would ask it to do: serve a variety of tasty Japanese comfort foods and a wide variety of sushi in a chill venue. They're a good group of people who remember and take care of regulars. I wish everyone could enjoy their hospitality!

Good food but way understaffed for lunch. This seems to be a problem at multiple spots at the Spectrum. Hey managers, the Spectrum draws a big lunch crowd, you might want to have more than 1 server on at noon.

Delicious and very fresh tasting! Came with free tea, soup, and salad which was a nice plus. Only downside is that it is a little on the pricey side. Will definitely be back!

We have passed Izakaya Wasa probably 100 times in Irvine Spectrum. For some reason, we've never tried the place. We finally stepped in for the first. And we were quite happy with our dinner experience. We ordered two entrees to share. The first one was Poke Don. Large pieces of fresh sashimi included salmon, tuna, albacore, yellowtail, halibut, and shrimp. The poke sauce was traditional style with sesame oil. We prefer the Japanese style poke more than the American style with mayonnaise sauce. The poke bowl was very good, and portion was huge. It also came with a bowl of miso soup. The second entree was the 3 items combination dinner. There were so many good choices for the items, and it was hard to decide what items to order. We opted for teriyaki beef, sesame chicken, and spicy tuna rolls. When the bento box came to the table, we were very surprised by how large the portion was. Included with the 3 items were miso soup, rice, salad, seaweed salad, and shumai. We were expecting 2 pieces of spicy tuna rolls with the combination. Instead we got 8 pieces, a whole roll! Teriyaki beef was cooked to medium. Very tender. The teriyaki sauce was not overly sweet, just the way we like it. Sesame chicken was not bad, but it wasn't what we expected. We thought it was the fried chicken pieces without any sauce. Izakaya Wasa's version had a sweet and spicy sauce over the fried chicken. Love the seaweed salad and Japanese shumai. We are glad that now we have another great choice for food in Irvine Spectrum. Will definitely return again to try more food on the menu.
