High quality food with wonderful presentation. Tastes as good as it looks. Didn’t wait too long for food, kind staff. Casual setting and good vibes. Small portions fit for two. Wide variety of flavors. Delicious rice cake, amazing drinks.
Decided to come here based off their reviews and boy was I glad I did! We got there 30 minutes after opening and did not have to wait. We were seated immediately. The servers are attentive and it's cool to see an open kitchen of them making the dumplings. They make them boiled, steamed, or pan fried. We ordered a 10 piece order of the steamed scallop and shrimp dumplings. They were juicy inside and had nice chunks of scallop and shrimp inside. We also ordered the okra salad appetizer which was served in a way I've never had idea before. It was very good and refreshing to eat alongside our other entrees. The last thing we ordered was am the braised brisket with quail eggs. Since I'm currently low carb I did not order rice but this beef would've been amazing with some rice. The beef was so tender and the quail eggs were a great addition. I like that they have chili oil, house sauce, vinegar, and soy sauce already on your table in case you need it for your dumplings My daughter also ordered their jasmine green milk tea and she said it was pretty good. I definitely want to come back here when I'm in orange county!
Having dinner here is a good experience. The staff really goes out of their way to anticipate their customer's needs. The restaurant ambiance is also good. We ordered the JA Signature Jiaozi, Crispy Chicken Wings and Honey Black Pepper Beef With Mushroom. The food (dumplings and Crispy wings) unfortunately, seems ordinary. The Honey Black Pepper Beef is really good though. The sauce is spectacular. The only thing is it doesn't come with rice, so make sure to order rice with it. It might be worth to try their other dishes.
You stroll into Ja Jiozi and immediately feel at home, much like being transported into that comforting Central Perk café from "Friends". The ambience is warm and inviting, the kind of place where you can visualize Ross and Rachel arguing over whether they were on a break.
First things first, let's talk about the true stars of the show - our servers, Phyliss, Adrian, and Gwen. In the vast universe of hospitality, they shine bright as the "Star Trek" crew navigating through the cosmos of customer service.
Phyliss is like an old-school maître d', a true Dame Judi Dench in "The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel" - overseeing everything with a keen eye, ensuring every customer is well-attended, every order is precise.
Adrian, on the other hand, is a blend of Tony Stark's charisma and Harry Potter's resilience - always at the ready to sweep in with his quick wit and helpful suggestions. His knowledge about the menu is as impressive as Tony Stark's tech-savviness.
Gwen is the Hermione of the group - detail-oriented, meticulous, and proactively stepping up to ensure your dining experience is nothing short of magical. It's like she's got a "Time-Turner", effortlessly managing multiple tables while still having the time to check on each customer.
As for the food, the Jiozi takes center stage - just like the epic fight scenes in a Marvel movie. Every dumpling is a labor of love, as intricately put together as an "Inception" plot, brimming with flavors that explode in your mouth like a climactic twist in a Tarantino film. The seasoning is always on point, each bite tastier than the last, making it hard to resist ordering round after round.
To sum it all up:
- Warm and inviting ambience reminiscent of "Friends".
- Stellar service provided by Phyliss, Adrian, and Gwen – your "Star Trek" crew of customer service.
- Food that's the perfect blend of craftsmanship and flavor, akin to the detailed plotting of an "Inception" or a Tarantino film.
A visit to Ja Jiozi is like a movie night - filled with familiar comforts, surprise twists, and a promise to leave you thoroughly entertained and satisfied. It's a place where good food, exceptional service, and a delightful atmosphere collide to form the perfect dining experience. So, take your seat, enjoy the show, and don't forget to order another round of Jiozi!
After a rainy day at Irvine Railroad Park, my family and I visited JA Jiaozi Authentic Dumplings in The Market Place, and it exceeded our expectations! Despite concerns about parking, we easily found a spot on the side of the restaurant just 30 minutes after it opened on a Saturday. We also read about long wait times, but that didn't happen for us.
The staff seated us at a cozy booth with two high chairs for my kids. To my delight, they placed kid-sized utensils and cute Peppa Pig and Minnie Mouse plates on the table. We ordered Steamed Shrimp and Scallop Dumplings, Stir Fried Broccoli, Chicken and Mushroom Dumplings in Chili Oil, and two Kid's Meals, thinking it would be enough for my little ones. But I was wrong - the portions were generous! The fried rice could easily feed two kids, and the broccoli stole the show. Although my toddlers didn't like the pan-fried dumplings, I found all the dumplings incredibly delicious and juicy. The Dumplings in Chili Oil were my favorite, but they were quite spicy for my taste buds - still totally worth it!
The staff was super friendly and attentive, even checking in with my kids to ensure they enjoyed their meal. The highlight of the meal was the ice cream that came with the Kid's Meals, but the cup was a little slippery on the plate. Nonetheless, we highly recommend JA Jiaozi Authentic Dumplings, especially for families with kids!
This restaurant is in a plaza with plenty of parking and easy to find. It's real authentic Chinese food and they don't use MSG. Everything I ordered was so delicious, and I would order it all again. However, I do want to try a noodle dish next time. If I had to choose, the Crispy Shrimp would be my favorite. It was so crispy and the flavor was through the roof! The dumplings were all so yummy and fresh – you see them making it by hand all day. So impressive.
The service was top notch and they made sure we enjoyed our food and had everything we wanted. Also, we got 2 different fruit teas, and it was so yum. I would probably ask them to make it less sweet next time, if you're like me and want more of the tea taste. The interior of the restaurant was super clean and modern – it was just beautiful. I'll need to come back soon.
must visit chinese restaurant if you are in irvine, los angeles area. good cuisines selection. the dumpling is their authentic & signature!
My steamed chicken and mushroom dumplings were absolutely perfect! The wait staff and atmosphere was amazing. Definitely somewhere I plan to return to. Thank you Ja Jiaozi 🥟
We really enjoyed the steamed dumplings, especially the Beef & Onion and the Chicken & Mushroom ones. The Plum Braised Beef and Spicy Tofu Skin were also extremely delicious. The mango & lychee Galaxy drinks were stunning and refreshing, and the environment was beautiful
Best drinks at a Chinese restaurant! That’s a must try here.
Overall, I think the resturant lacked good variety for Vegetarian population.
Also, we were not served in order. Some of our starters came in after entrees were even finished eating.
I did find some concern with the Veggie Chow Mein that I tried here - it was a little extra salty.
Staff at this restaurant are great and very friendly. I appreciate they honestly giving us details of what was the status of our food back in the kitchen.
A good economic diner in Irvine area I feel.
My overall opinion is that all of the dishes are quite tasty, but seem to have a touch of Asian American fusion.
The dumplings are all very flavorful, and I appreciate that they offer steamed, pan fried, and boiled dumplings, which will change the texture and flavor of each of them.
The simple dumplings containing shrimp or pork are the best. The stylized ones such as the flaming hot were a novelty that wasn’t that great.
The green beans has great flavor, and a semi firm texture, while the bok Choi was lighter with a white sauce and crunchier as they trim the green leafy party. The mapo tofu had a quite authentic flavor, allowing you to taste a bit of the Sichuan spices and pixiam doubanjiang or similar peppers used to cook it.
The beef dishes were also satisfactory, both offering fatty and flavorful meats. I love the cumin and pepper spices on the beef skewers, and could even go with more for that peak flavor. I was afraid the honey black pepper beef would be too sweet, but it strikes a good savory sweet balance, and the mushrooms were very tasty as well.
From my limited experience, I don’t think that this is wholly authentic, but I did enjoy the dishes I tasted and think that it would be a great place to stop by and grab a bunch of dumplings.
I had a great experience and liked the restaurant. The dumplings didn't quite match my expectations, but a couple of other dishes did. I would go back just to order the pork belly with plum. It has to be the best dish available. They need to serve it with hot steamed buns, and they would have a massive hit on their hands.
simplistic but good! the food was really good and flavorful. i especially liked the flaming hot dumplings, it wasn’t just straight up spicy but had a little sweet in it so it was still enjoyable! the service is also nice. the waiters answered any questions we had about the food. atmosphere was amazing, the interior is very warm and welcoming. also quite modern! i particularly liked the music played there! it was mainstream but not annoying. overall the place was excellent and i would definitely eat here again and recommend it to others!
Very good food of the dumplings & plates-to-share variety. Best hot and sour soup outside of San Francisco. Service is great, but too many patrons bring their small rambunctious children here, so it does get noisy at times.
Came back the second time with more friends, the first time I came only with my best friend. We came for the atmosphere where it's not too loud that we can talk and have family dinner. The restaurant setting is nice too. It's pretty crowded in the weekend so if you plan to go, join waitlist on Yelp to get in line is the best idea. But if going on weekdays after work, there's no need to do so. Service is fast and the food is consistent.
Highlights of the menu:
1. Stir Fried Spring Beans with XO Sauce
2. Braised Beef with Quail Eggs
3. Plum Raised Pork
4. Chicken and Mushroom Dumplings - the yellow dumpling
5. Steamed Jiaozi in 6 colors - if you want to taste all their dumplings
6. Their soups
I want to come back to try the truffle, last time saw it on the menu. You cannot go wrong with truffles!
