Great food, amazing service!! Best spot for a birthday that I've been to in a LONG time.
Great service, delicious food...as always!
Updating my original review, I've come 4 or 5 times now.
While hotpot is practically designed for sharing, I enjoy coming solo after a long day at work or after the gym, and just pigging out by myself. It's a tad bit pricey that way, but I honestly have not had a more enjoyable restaurant experience by myself than at Haidilao hotpot. I find you get what you pay for here in every regard.
Each time coming here has been great. Their waitress, Mango, helped me my first time as she explained how everything operates. I've had Kelvin as my server a few times now as well, and he is also an excellent member of their staff. He's very attentive and quick, and he makes sure everything you ordered arrived properly.
The flavors of food here are exceptional and some are rare for a commonAmerican like me, but I I love culinary adventures and eating here never lets me down.
The spicy soup bases are a go-to since they are loaded with Sichuan pepper. The mushroom soup and tom-yam soups are also amazing. I haven't tried the pork bone soups yet but they look great.
Haidilao pulls out all the stops, and they offer some very high end cuts of meat if you're willing to pay for them. I do believe you get what you pay for in regard to meat quality, so it would be fun to grab some high end cuts someday if I'm celebrating something or having a party. Otherwise, the budget items they have are still delicious.
In addition to their exquisite meat selection, Haidilao also boasts an impressive array of alcoholic beverages. Their selection is as diverse and potentially as pricey as their meats, catering to varied tastes. From exclusive Chinese liquor at thousands of dollars per bottle to affordable hot sake or beer, their offerings complement the dining experience perfectly, especially on those special occasions.
Regarding special occasions, for large parties it's good to book ahead. They can get extremely busy around weekends and holidays as this is one of the most popular hotpot locations in South OC.
To sum it up, dining at Haidilao is an exhilarating experience that borders on euphoria, akin to reaching a high without the need for any substances, save Sichuan peppers. The combination of vibrant flavors, exceptional service, and the sheer joy of indulging in their luxurious offerings makes each visit an adventure in culinary delight. It's not just a meal; it's an event that tantalizes the senses and leaves you yearning for more every time.
Great hot pot place. The restaurant was nice and clean. Our waitress was great. She created a couple customized dipping sauces for us. This was not the cheapest place but the quality of meats and vegetables made it worth the extra cost. Although there are some combination options, everything else is a la carte which can add up fast.
Haidilao at IRVINE
is an exceptional dining experience that I highly recommend. From the moment you step into the restaurant, you are greeted with warm hospitality and impeccable service. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that your dining experience is enjoyable and memorable.
The selection of ingredients for the hot pot is extensive and of high quality. From a variety of fresh vegetables to premium meats and seafood, there is something for everyone. The broth options are also diverse, ranging from mild and comforting to spicy and flavorful.
What sets Hot Pot Haidilao apart is their attention to detail. Each table is equipped with a personal hot pot and a wide array of condiments and sauces to customize your own dipping sauce. The staff is always available to assist with any cooking or ingredient recommendations, ensuring that you have the best hot pot experience possible.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is lively and vibrant, making it a great place to gather with friends and family. The spacious seating arrangements and comfortable seating add to the overall dining experience.
Overall, Hot Pot Haidilao is a must-visit for hot pot lovers. The combination of excellent service, high-quality ingredients, and a pleasant atmosphere make it a top choice for a delicious and enjoyable meal.
We did one side miso broth and one side mushroom and they were both delicious. You could almost just have the broth it was so flavorful but we opted for the flanks that were on special, veggies, and noodles too which further enhanced our serving. Wait staff was friendly and helped us get started since it was our first time having hot pot. Would happily dine here again!
The only thing I like best about this hot pot place is the service... I've been here several times and all of the waiters and waitresses have been extremely professional and friendly.
I enjoy the milk soup base and pork bone soup for the broth. Aside from that, all of the fish balls are a must.
Very good concept and it is a clean place - all the waiters are doing a great job, they are kind and explain the concept clearly. We loved everything we ate. Good quality food and the dancing noodle show was fun 😍
Excellent selection in sauce bar, desserts, and snacks for those waiting outside. Our server was friendly and attentive. Every detail was considered, from aprons to hair ties to toothbrushes and combs in the restroom. Our server packaged our leftovers and even gave us snacks while going away. I would come again, thank you HDL for a great experience.
If you like the hotpot, this is the place to go. One of my favorite restaurants in the area!
The meat quality is good! So many options for the dipping sauce, you can mix them together!
Expensive. There are better hot pot places for better price elsewhere but this is a good chain option that have multiple locations
They now offer points to rank up so that's a plus.
They have a sauce bar that is free. Nice options.
Only issue is lack of combo options that are affordable
There are a lot of food options and the foods are very delicious. There is also super great service. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. They also have a lot of meat and seafood to eat with the soup. There is also a free kids meal if your child wants one. There is also an sauce area. Overall, I really enjoyed the experience at the Haidilao Hot Pot restaurant and I would really recommend you to go here and try out the food.

Delicious broths (Tom yum, miso, tomato and pork bone) and quality meats. Excellent service too. The dancing noodle show adds a little fun to dinner. The sauce bar has variety of dipping sauces, fruits, salad, kimchi and Asian desserts.
Nice staffs and good food. Always my favorite place.
Great customer service! Waiting time is short on Sunday night around 6pm. Highly recommended. Spicy soup base tastes good as well as the milk tea
My first time here with my brother and my son. Emily was our server. She was amazing. She took the time to explain to us how everything worked. Her recommendations were on point! She made sure we were taken care of. She went above and beyond. I truly enjoyed the food and the entire experience. I definitely recommend this place.
This restaurant is friendly to kids. They gave us a mini apron, kids, dish, and a toy. They even have a robot servicing your dishes.
You get a choice of four broths. The food is good, nothing extraordinary. A little pricer than I'm used to for hot pot.
Would recommend.
I have heard so much about this place and I could no longer wait for their San Diego store to open. After a few postponements, I decided to come check them out in Irvine.
Our server Kevin was exceptional. Knowing it was our first time here, he went into full details on how the menu system works, made some great recommendations for us to try. He was so pleasant throughout the entire evening. Big kudos on your patience and big smile!
After hearing our anticipation for the San Diego store to open, Kevin introduced us to the owner. The owner was just as friendly and kind. He cordially invited us to his store in SD when they open later this month.
Despite how busy the restaurant was, everyone was friendly and pleasant - qualities long disappeared in even some of the top restaurants since CoVid. The entire restaurant is super clean!
Best of luck and success to your opening in SD. I look forward to it.
I've heard so many good things about Haidilao and always wanted to go to one and finally got the chance tonight - now I understand the hype thanks to our server Justin. He was the nicest most attentive server I've ever had in my life - management you have a gem with Justin and are lucky to have him on your staff! He really was so considerate and attentive and it really elevated our dining experience to a 10/10. Not once were wanting for anything and we really felt taken care of. For example, we ordered the spicy soup as one of our bases and it was really spicy, causing me to drink cup of water after cup of water and every time my water was filled before I ever got to empty thanks to the attentiveness of Justin. He also offered to make a sauce for us and it was so good! In addition to taking such good care of us, I saw that he was moving around our section constantly to check up on all his tables. And I'm talking about MOVING. Too many times I've seen servers who do the bare minimum, moving around at a snails pace and exuding an attitude like they want to clock out - not so with Justin, it really seemed like he cared about providing amazing customer service.
Of course the food was fresh and delicious but good food can be had all over LA and the OC (like the other Haidilao locations) - it was really the service that will make us come back here again. In fact, my girlfriend told me she had been to the Haidilao in Century City and the food was just as good but the service was waaaaaaay worse. If you've never been to a Haidilao before, do it and come to this one in Irvine - hopefully you get Justin or a server just as good and have as great an experience as we did!
Great hotpot place with amazing service and food. We came her twice during our stay in Irvine and had quite the dinner experience here. The staff was quick to suggest food and had their own song for birthdays. Which—both times we came had birthdays in the house and sang for the birthday recipients. Anyways we had a great time at this restaurant, food and experience, and hope you will visit this restaurant. Ps. There are extra snacks offered 😋, for free they are delicious.
Haidilao, which most of us seem to know for their famous dancing noodle dish, has food as tasty as the dancing noodles are entertaining. This is such a fun way to transform hotpot into a choose-your-own-adventure style dining experience.
First, there may be a small wait even with reservations because they're just that popular. However, the host is pretty good about checking in. Also, who can complain about a wait when you've got delicious Asian bugle and wheaties styles snacks to slowly munch on (don't ruin your appetite) and roasted barley tea! There are also a ton of fun things to do, ranging from karaoke, painting pottery, to escape rooms, for longer waits.
The menu is exploding with options. It's a bit of a headspin for first timers, but you'll be grateful for the options when you come with bigger parties with lots of different tastes! Highlights include the option to have up to 4 different broths going at once.
It's hard to go wrong with the broths - every broth I tried is tasty in its own right. However, pork bone broth is the clear flavor winner as you barely need any dipping sauce with whatever you cook in that broth. The tomato broth is nice for vegetables and has extra tomato-y, juicy tomatoes that stew inside.
The fatty beef brisket, beef tongue, varied mushrooms, and varied tofu plates were all fantastic. The variety of the tofu and mushrooms, including the wonderful tofu skin, mixed and matches with any broth flavor. The meats are all tender and soak up the broths like a sponge.
You've got so many options from vegetables, seafood, meats, mushrooms, Tofus, and crispy fried delights. Don't forget to try their crispy little buns that come with condensed milk. You'll be in fried bun heaven. The multi-meat "meatballs" are also a fun dish to order. Their shrimp balls were A+ in the golden chicken broth.
You can start, end, or accompany this hot pot adventure with a snacks, desserts, and dip station. Fun flavors like fermented black bean are available, but they also have the classic sesame paste and sesame oil. If you aren't sure how to mix the dip options optimally, they have a sheet showing you popular dip combinations. Don't forget to grab some shrimp chips!
While by no means cheap, Haidilao provides such a fun experience and is a great place to go for a family night out or to indulge with some friends. Servers check in pretty frequently and ordering is easy too. The only thing I've missed out on during each visit so far is the dancing noodles! But I can confirm it's worth visiting, with or without those dancing noodles.
