This is one of my favorite go-to Korean restaurants for flavors from my childhood. I like the variety of the side dishes which always seem fresh. The veggie pancake side is a nice treat. Favorites on the menu include the bulgogi, yookgejang (spicy beef soup), soft tofu soup, kalgooksu (hand-cut noodle soup). Prices are reasonable and service is typical for most Korean restaurants (responsive, but not overly attentive).
Vegan tofu spicy soup and rice great on a chilly day!
Kaya is the best most authentic Korean food around. Probably the best I've had outside Korea. The staff are always nice and helpful. The decor is unique and interesting. The parking spaces in the parking lot are very small and the parking lot is always very busy. That’s the only bad point really
It was pretty good and it's a mom and pop shop. The side dishes were better made than most of the Korean places I have been to. My gf ordered the stone bowl bibimbap and it was great. I ordered the cold buckwheat noodles and it wasn't that impressive. Overall I would recommend.. Just not their noodles
Good Korean food. Good side dishes. Probably the best all around option for Korean food flavor wise in Irvine. Reasonable prices too. Only downside is it's hard to find from Culver and the parking lot is the worst in terms of sizes of spots.
This is my family's go-to for korean food. all the workers are so kind and the food is amazing. they always make us feel so comfortable eating there and we never go home unsatisfied! can't wait to go again
I used to come here quite often because the food was really good/authentic and it wasn't very crowded. Lately, I've noticed the food became a bit bland and the quality has gone down. It's quite a shame or else it'd still be one of my favorite Korean restaurants in Irvine.
Good service, good food. Tastes like home cooking. Easily overlooked in the plaza bc the bigger restaurants. If you're looking for classic Korean food and a hug from the inside this is your place
Very authentic korean food. The staff was very friendly and came around quite frequently to check if everything was ok. We ordered the bibimbap and soon tofu and both dishes were delicious. Would definitely come by again!
This is where supporting local businesses should start because they are so good! As of June 2021, they're open for dine-in and although they state 50% seating, it got pretty full (almost as much as precovid). Everything I've had tastes spectacular - guksu, tteokbokki, soondobu, pancake, bibimbap, nyeungmyung. And these are all vegetarian/vegan versions that they've accommodated/had on menu. The highlight is the array of sides - kimchied veg, sprouts, tofu, and pancake. Yum!
There's a lot out front but the spaces are super small and it gets full because of the shops in the square.
