Best Ramadan Iftar box in Jackson heights every year!!!
Good Food and great service. I love it specially their Lalipop. Thank you
My favorite Indian Chinese in the 5 boros!. My hubby and I have been here many times! I am pretty critical when it comes to Chinese food. My hubby was raised working in a Chinese restaurant cooking since he was 11 years old! With Indian food, I don't know as much but I am picky in general and I have many allergies and I am pretty much a pain in the rear. (not always but when I go out I am)My favorite Indian restaurant in NYC is Banjara, I am not sure if I have tried all of the Indian Chinese restaurants But of those I have tried it is the best in terms of the quality and taste of the food which is the most important but also decor and service as well. I have been to about 4 or 5.
I absolutely hate the filthy disgusting restaurants in Flushing and a few in Elmhurst and Sunset Park Brooklyn. Talk of the Town does not insult you by charging for filth. The decor is clean and even cozy ,they try with candles and lights to create a romantic mood. The service is a cut above the rest of the restaurants in the area and also above any Chinese restaurant I have ever been to in NYC and many of the Indian and most of the Indian Chinese restaurants in NYC. All of the customers were Indian except us.
The menu on line and even the take out menu is not updated. They have added some interesting menu items and have a few things posted on the walls. I had a delicious strawberry Lassi.
This is the first time I have seen strawberry. I see Mango
on most of the menus that have them but I am slightly allergic to Mango. And I don't like Rose flavored and yes I have tried it.
The menu is more extensive and unique than any of the other Indian Chinese I have been to. I am not an Indian Chinese expert but I am not a novice either.
We were over whelmed by the menu the first time and chose as quickly as possible. Usually we take time to study the menu before going but this was a last minute choice.
This is a real NY fusion kind of place because they have cheese cake (skip it) but just having it on the menu shows the open mindedness. It is fun and quirky. Fusion can be really bad if the reason for it is only to make money. But Talk of the Town I believe will soon become Talk Of the Town because of the NY feel and tasty inventive menu.
In most Chinese fusion restaurants the Chinese portion is not good. (such as Cuban Chinese or Latin Chinese or Indian Chinese.) But Talk of the Town is the exception. We had the Hakka Noodles the second time and they were delicious and Wok seared perfectly.
I want to list a few of the unique menu items, Mango and coconut smoothies, Lychee Lassi, fruit punch ,frozen fruit punch ,Talk of the Town Kulfi, lemon/lime grass cooler, Thai Satay shrimp with brown sugar, curry powder, peanut butter, freshly squeezed lime juice and chili peppers. Lime Noodle soup which a man alone at the table across from us was slurping really loud even to the point of being embarrassed about it. The second time we went he was there doing the same thing! It was not even at the same time and I saw him pay his bill so he Is not an employee just a regular customer.
Lychee chicken with tomato sauce and Lychee, and many interesting lamb dishes. The second time we also we had a lamb sizzler it was really delicious! My husband thought it tasted like Bulgogi.
The apps that we had were chicken Lolli pops with cherry sauce. It was so much better than the same that I have had at other similar restaurants.
The chicken alone was succulent and tender. With the sauce it was an explosion of flavor. We had a delicious Strawberry Lassi, and Bhindi Jaipuri. For dinner the first time we had Thai sizzling fish and a Paneer dish that is not on the on line or take out menu. It was Paneer with a red chili garlic sauce. The rice was the fluffiest white rice I have ever seen or tasted! And it tasted like it was cooked in butter! It was most likely flavored with Ghee. In Jackson Heights it is unusual to have parking but they have their own tiny parking lot for free. If you bring a car bring a small car. It looks like it used to be a doctors office from the outside. Everything about the restaurant including the parking lot is quirky and unique.
All of the dishes are Halal which does not take away from the flavor. We will go back soon and try more of the menu. I can't wait!
Next visit-
So picture this, Christmas in Jackson Heights (which we have done before) it is very crowded and grid locked. I walk in by myself with my messy long blond hair and a Mandarin Gold Jacket. (kind of gaudy and classy at the same time) I was the only non Brown person there.
I said seats for 2 please my husband will be in shortly. The server was super nice. The other customers all seemed to think I was a tourist who got lost. I have super sensitive hearing and heard the couple behind me say "what is she doing here"?
I know good food that is what I am doing there.
Then my husband walked in and the couple said oh she's with the Chinese guy. I think the server heard them and was trying to be really sensitive. I already had my order ready so I just ordered. It doesn't bother me.
There is a separate party room and there seemed to be an Indian Chinese Muslim Christmas party. Not sure what that is but I am pretty sure it was delicious! So I said all of that to say either it was not the same chef or the chef was over worked. I loved it but wouldn't go back on a holiday.
The reason I give it 5 stars is as far as Indian Chinese food goes this is the best we have had. We ordered a bunch of things and only took pictures of half since we forgot until half way though the meal. The food was really good! It was so good was just wanted to eat.
Just not as good as the last few times but I think it may have been the crowd. We got there early about 5 PM and it was already really crowded. It was very cold too! My husband who is always flaming hot was cold!
My note to the owner, if you think you can't afford heat just raise the prices and turn the heat on. I do not want to pay more but would not go back if there was no heat. I can't imagine another reason they did not have the heat on. The food is good so people will pay more but not to sit in a cold restaurant. The heat did kick in later but not for the first hour. We were there for a while.
We didn't try the desserts they were not good last time. They got them from a kitchen supply place. So we ordered a lot of food.
On a side note- They had old school take out boxes which I understand people in London are very intrigued with. Quirky and cool.
The vegetables were expertly cut (which is hard to find even in the "top" Chinese restaurants in NYC and they were perfectly Wok seared.
The lamb was a stand out as usual. The Cauliflower appetizer and lollipop chicken were insane! The fish was good and the sauce was good but there was too much sauce for my taste.
In spite of the cold and a few of the dishes being off it is still the best Indo Chinese we have had in the 5 boros.
Also there was a customer there that looked a lot like an Indian comedian that I like. Russell Peters.
Omg best resturant. I love talk of the town.go there every week. awesome food, awesome environment. love the damn place. god i'm hungry just writing about it. lol
peace
The name of this place is "Eatzy chinese" instead talk of the town.. and service is good. Nice food ..
My favourite items to order from this restaurant are chilly chicken and fried rice. As usual the taste and flavour combined with seasoning are uniquely blended with perfect combination. If you really desire to give a shot , I would say go for it without hesitation. I assure, you will never regret.
But you need to be specific to the level of spice that needs its preparation as it’s tolerance varies from person to person. Overall the quality is great and commendable.
Its a old place for me, food is good as before though the business got new name " Eatzy Chinese "
Food is great and that's what is most important. But service is great too. Nice ambience. The only issue is parking. They have parking for only 2 cars at the back. There is no TV inside. But that's OK. The gentleman who served us was awesome. One of our kids broke a glass but still they were all smiles. Liked the place.
We ordered the House Special Briani. These guys gave us a superb customer experience and their food was fantastic. The blend of flavors and the spice were just perfect. Congratulations and I hope that anything that happened in the past stays in the past and you guys can move forward.
Had a large family dinner here. The Thai soup is one of the best dishes in Queens. Loved the lollipop chicken. The variety of entrees we had were very good as well. Have been coming here since I was a child and still doesn't disappoint.
Good Desi restaurant. Their soup is really testy. But only if you like spicy. I loved it because I like spicy foods. Their chicken lollypop is very crispy and taste is good also. But there is no parking. And in that area parking is really a big challenge. Luckily I found a parking within 4 blocks, last time. But sometime only for the parking challenge you'll discouraged have some food over there.
This place is just as good as Sagar. This place also has chicken lollipop but it obviously tastes a little different than Sagar Lollipop. The staff is very friendly and professional. Cozy lighting and very comfortable. They greet us with smiles. Talk of the town special fish is one of my favorite.
Love this place! I have been coming here for years and nothing has changed: the service is always great and the food is amazing! Their chicken lollipop is a must! First thing I order all the time: the chicken lollipop is flavorful and the sauce that goes with it tastes soo good!!
Talk of the Town is Just like Nan King .Here all the best Chinese food is available in spicy touch u can order not spicy ,mild or really hot fresh food .soups are fine and tasty .from 12 - 3 pm a lot ( not everything ) is 50% off on weekdays ( not weekends) I go get a sweet chicken corn soup ( regular bowl $ 4:36 with tax) Hooka Chicken Noddels ( regular $10 :80 with tax) for a discount price of $7:00 .which is very reasonable for a light lunch time . chicken loly pops r delicious a lot of veriety .good place to go .But with family on weekends a little expensive .( In a south Asian state of mind )
