Stopped by on my way through town. The tony Montana panini was was delicious. My server Randi was awesome. Everything was quick, quality was great, and I will be back!
As a new resident to Jackson and the state of Mississippi one of the things I was worried about was not getting quality pizza and I was so thrilled to find Sal & Mookie's right down the street from my house! This will definitely be a local staple for me and a place I take my friends when they come to visit. Its honestly some of the best pizza I've had in a really long time, especially if you're looking for that thin crust New York style pizza! I'm salivating just thinking about it. Cheers!
They have the best pizza and the staff is awesome. We had a party of 15 for Friday night and they were able to fit us in with little wait, kept our birthday cake cool while we ate pizza and hummus that was absolutely delicious, and the servers were attentive and flexible. Me, my friends, and my family love this place.
Love it! Our favorites are the chicken Philly cheesesteak sandwich, pizza, and chocolate tiramisu! Oh, and Megan is the best! She recognizes us when we come in and we always sit in her section. Best service ever!
Hands down best pizza I've ever had! Making this a traditional stop when heading north. The crust is just a pillow of heaven and the combo of toppings...perfection. Please, please consider coming a few miles south on I55 for another location or delivery. We will meet you at the exit to pick up delivery! ��
My husband and I was in town yesterday for a in-house meeting. I googled places to eat near me and this place popped up at only 1 mile away, I usually don't like to try different restaurants but this place turned out to be the BEST place I've eaten , hands down !! The food looked and tasted VERY fresh!!! The bar area was very relaxed and there was classic rock playing on top of the place being very clean and orderly!This is our go to spot for now on.
My family loves pizza, ice cream, draft beer, and patios, so this is one of our favorite restaurants!

Of the countless pizzas I've eaten throughout my life, the John's Bleecker pizza at Sal & Mookie's easily cracks my top five best pies. Foregoing the traditional mozzarella cheese, this pie has Fontina, chicken, sausage, caramelized onions, and sun-dried tomatoes with a béchamel sauce base. The béchamel is not too rich or overwhelming, providing enough flavor to let the toppings shine through. The sun-dried tomatoes gave it acidity and enhanced the texture, the chicken and sausage provided the savory, and the onions tied it all together with the sweet. One of the best on a list of excellent pies offered at Sal & Mookie's.
The best whole wheat pizza crust I have ever had. Really fresh ingredients and really fast orders when you get take out. A perfect place to take kids.
Sal & Mookies may be well known for their great new york style pizzas, but they also offer a terrific selection of burgers. Our meal tonight was a "black & blue (medium)" and the "turkey lurkey" burgers which are grilled to order served on a house made hawaiian bun with fresh cut regular or sweet potato fries. As a majority of the tables around us were feasting on huge pizza pies I began to second guess my order, but as the food arrived and I took my first bite, my skepticism completely disappeared. Nearly every bite was devoured. Who knew!! I didn't save room for dessert but I had my eye on a few items that seemed deserving of a taste next time.
I must say, in all my years (50+) of travel and eating (lol), I haven't had pizza this good. I'll be back!
No sauce on cheese pizza?. So I ordered a cheese pizza to go. I guess I can't really blame them, because I didn't specify that I also wanted marinara/tomato sauce on it, but was very disappointed to get home and find a pizza with ... yup, bread and cheese. Moral of the story: don't assume anything and be sure to say you want marinara on your pizza, unless you just want dry bread with your topping on it.
Good Pizza, Average Prices, Not the best service.. I enjoyed the food a lot, however I have not always had the best service here, although the pizza are resonably priced for the most part. Would definetly recommend to someone looking for some good pizza.
This was our first visit here and we had good service and the food and ice cream was delicious. Very pricey though!
Pizza is good. The pizzas have always been delicious and fresh. Our last experience during lunch has ensured we won't be back other than to pick up a pizza. Most of our food came out cold, including grilled chicken. As in, straight out of the refrigerator cold.

Wings and hummus. Best wings I've ever had. Especially with the gorgonzola dipping sauce. Their hummus is superb as well. The only thing that I was not impressed with was the eggplant parmesan sub. Not sure what was going on with that, but the skin was left on the eggplant and it was super tough. Everything else I've tried has been on point.
Pizza and Stromboli Excellence. If you love pizza, burgers, or dessert, eat at Sal & Mookie's. We first ate there last year, and enjoyed it. We were in Jackson last week and decided to try it again. We were glad we did. Between the three of us, we had a Rockaway Beach stromboli and a Gambino pizza. I'm not usually a white sauce and chicken pizza kind-of-guy, but the Rockaway Beach stromboli (a folded over pizza) was fantastic. The Gambino was great. And the Pecan Bar with ice cream was a delicious way to end the meal. I suppose we might try somewhere a little more upscale (although there's certainly nothing wrong with the ambience at Sal & Mookie's for a pizza place) next time we're in Jackson, but it's going to have rave reviews to keep us from being drawn back to Sal & Mookies.

My boyfriend and I drive from Atlanta to Austin all the time and when driving on I-20 there isn't anything better than stopping in Jackson and going to Sal & Mookies. We've had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he was so charismatic! We've traveled all over the united states, and Sal & Mookies is some of the beat pizza we've ever had.
This place is great. Loved the food, the service was great and the ice cream was awesome! The kids loved this place, and it's not always easy to find a place where the kids and the parents are both truly happy. Service was friendly and prompt.
Sit Outside. It's noisy inside, but sitting outside is fine. My only complaint about Sal & Mookie's is that the serving sizes are grotesquely large. I almost lose my appetite when I see that much food on a plate. Yes, they are very good about providing boxes to take the leftover home, but I don't like doing that. I would much rather have a reasonable amount of food on my plate, eat it, and leave without having to fool with carrying something home.
Perfect pizza!!! Delicious cheese smothering grilled chicken, onions, and green peppers. Best pizza in MS that I have tried.

Getting My NY Grub On!!!!!. Went there tonight, had a bit to wait, but in the end the wait was justified!.
I had the Caprese to start the night.- tomato, fresh mozzarella, basil, and red onion and black olives. The appetizer was very tasty. I have to say that the fresh basil really made the salad. The only thing was I wish that the slices of mozzarella were thicker.
I was told by numerous people that they will work with you on substitutions. I was in the mood for the Chicken Parm over a bed of Ziti. I asked that they used the Vodka sauce and to add Italian Sausage to it.
My Server, Jennifer, made it happen. No questions, no "It's going to cost you this amount". It was just done, and done correctly.
My Weekend wife had the nightly special of Crab filled Ravioli. She stated that it was excellent.
When my Chicken Parm arrived it was a HUGE plate. There was enough food actually for 2 people and the amount of chicken was out of this world.
In all this visit along with previous visits, mostly pizza and the Hebrew National Panini(smoked salmon, red onion, sliced
tomatoes, and dill-caper cream cheese spread), will ensure that I will continue to patronage this establishment. (BTW the other 2 restaurants that they own are great as well!)

Best pizza in the area. I've had them all. The crust is unmatched crunchy chewy foldable. The meatpacker is my favorite for toppings but you can't go wrong.
Great New York-style Pizza. My sister raves about Sal and Mookie's, so I had to give it a try while in town. The pizza I ordered (half pep/half cheese) was very good, despite being slightly overcooked. Excellent wheat crust. The service was friendly and the food was ready for me to pick up when I arrived.
You gotta try the wings. Trust me on this... (or you can trust the other chef's in town that rave about them)
