Love it. We visit usually once a week the staff is friendly and the food is always great.
Good Ribs. Samll place but the food is good.
Where Jacksonville Eats!. The pig has been at this location for a while and the food is very good. The pig special can be ordered with two or three sides. The ribs are big, juicy, and the meat comes away from the bone very easily. The pig juice is a mustard base so that is their speciality! The cole slaw is one of my favorites in Jax with a slight sweet tase to it. The service is quick and friendly.
Until this past weekend, I did not know that The Pig was open for breakfast. It was a good breakfast, too. I had a western omelette with grits and toast for 5.95. They had a multitude of breakfast options for under $5. Service and food were both great and speedy. Will definitely try the breakfast again.
The sauce!. Their sauce is the best in town. You can't find sauce like this anywhere.
Best BBQ in town. I have been eatting at the pig since I was a child. This is hands down the best BBQ in Jacksonville. The pork is tender the sauce is out of this world always have a pint at home in the fredge. Great prices. I have eaten BBQ form Tennessee to Alabama and nothing has matched Jacksonville own Pig. Love it
The pulled pork was so delicious. The ribs were very flavorful and almost fell off the bone. The coleslaw', OMG y'all it was amazin'. The serving of okra was large and crispy. One of my favorite things about this place I know is so little but yet so big they do not water down their ranch dressing. The potato salad was in little cubes, and it was a mustard potato salad. The tea was fresh. All I can say is no complaints here. I left there fat and sassy. The waitress Lou was so nice. We always sit in her section. This is just a little Wednesday treat for us and sometimes even other days of the week.
Now I know why they call it The Pig. I didn't have to put sauce on any of my meat. And I love my meat wet barbecue, that is, but there is no need to add anything to this smoked meat cause it's so good as izzzz!!! Happy eating, y'all!!!
This place is serving up some yummy bbq! This is only my 2nd visit and it’s consistent from the friendly ladies up front to the delicious ribs and chicken.
I’m a fan!
I’ve been eating here for 40+ years. It’s a hole in the wall. It’s the sort of southern BBQ place where the waitress calls you sweetie. Whenever we come home to visit we always stop in. My mom sends us Pig Sauce so we have a little taste of home. So far I’ve had pig sauce in my cupboard in Chicago, San Diego and now in Dallas.
One of the best barbecues here in the State of Florida or in Jacksonville they've been around since 1956 the only problem is the restaurants need a good update which never been done still the original look so it looks poorly inside like it needs to be redone food is always good and hot service is the same they got a great chef in the kitchen and if you like open pit barbecue and a famous sauce you can't knock it I appreciate your reading this and I hope this review helped you out
This restaurant has much more than barbecue. Hit this place up for your fish Fridays! Their cooks are damn good fry techs, shrimp and fish were perfectly crispy and tender. The sweet tea is on point too!
Now, this is a neighborhood restaurant not some fancy new restaurant. Be prepared for the southern niceties like "honey" and "sweetie" and the "hole in the wall" comfortable atmosphere that you get at most businesses that have been around for 68+ years.
The best place in town for a family dinner! Kind staff, food is always hot and delicious. And the seafood and bbq is always up to southern standard. We usually have Danny as our server and she's my favorite, always friendly and efficient! If you're thinking about dining here, you should head over!
Small little restaurant, very very busy. A lot of takeout. The waitress was very knowledgeable. The food was excellent and the ribs very good and tender, the black-eyed peas had tenderness to him and very juicy. Nothing was dry. I had lima beans, the pulled pork really good. The only thing I thought the sausage was a teeny bit salty. Just my opinion. Other than that it was phenomenal. Very very happy meal. Glad we stopped here. 👍🏾💪🏾🙏🏽🙌🏽❤️
Large Pig special with beans, and fries! You won't be disappointed. The ribs are good too. I think they put whip cream in their banana pudding, and I could eat a truckload of it!
Great hospitality! Food was great. Would revisit especially on Wednesday on fried chicken day! 2 thumbs up for the BBQ we had today.
I liked the waitess and all associated staff. They were kind and attentive. The bbq was good. The sides were really great.
The fish and grits are phenomenal. I dont know what they put in the breading but its magical. I burn my mouth eating it too fast everytime. I live around the corner so it happens often. They leave the bbq sauce out for breakfast. Cover the whole plate in the mustard sauce with hotsauce. Butter the grits before you start on the fish. Mix it in and eat the grits with the fish.
I'll have to remember to painfully wait to take a photo before eating next time.
Been a long time since I've had any bbq from here, but I can say they have the best salmon croquettes I've had in years.
I don't like the fact that they are always asking for a tip on to go orders. I'm not being served, so why should I leave a tip. Every time I go to Burger King, Five Guys, or KFC for to go orders, I might as well leave them a tip.
Just stopped in there and ordered Burgers and Fries to go and had them in less than 10 minutes and they were delicious. Definitely my go-to burger place now!
The service was good, and our server was friendly, but she was working the whole place. The food was good. I noticed that at some establishments, the omelets are crepes instead of omelets.
