Clean place, awesome staff (Steve & Kyle), and a great spot to grab a bite to eat & hear some great live music. The fully stocked bar doesn't hurt either. Its worth checking it out especially before an event at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena.
Great place to chill and grab a tasty beverage before any event downtown. .
Good band too.
This place (now known as That Bar At The Arena) is the best place for happy hour or pregaming events at EverBank Stadium, Daily's Place, VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena or 121 Financial Stadium. The staff is so friendly and welcoming, and the drinks are affordable. The atmosphere is like a dive bar, but with more space to get comfortable. You can also walk to all of the nearby venues with a drink in hand! Don't miss the boiled peanuts or other tasty menu items. PBR Tallboys are $4 and shots of Fireball are $5! Tell Debrah and Caitlin that Mindy sent you.
Last weekend, my friends and I had the pleasure of visiting "That Bar at the Arena" while we were in town for an event. As out-of-staters, we were looking for a place that offered not just good food and drinks, but also a welcoming atmosphere, and we found just that.
**What We Loved:**
1. **The Staff**: The highlight of our experience was undoubtedly the bar staff, particularly Caitlyn. Her friendly and professional demeanor made us feel right at home. She was engaging and interactive, which was a big plus for us as visitors unfamiliar with the area.
2. **Drinks**: We kept our drink orders simple, opting for local beers. The selection was decent and each beer we tried was a refreshing companion to our conversations.
3. **Ambience**: The overall vibe of the place was lively yet comfortable, making it a great spot for groups like ours to hang out and unwind.
**Food Experience:**
- **Hits and Misses**: While I personally found the food to be just okay, some of my friends really enjoyed their choices. The wings and sausage sub were particular favorites among my group. I had chicken tenders and fries – the tenders were a bit of a letdown as they reminded me of microwavable ones you might find at a store. However, the fries were a different story – crunchy, well-seasoned, and definitely the highlight of my meal.
- **Consistency**: It seems like the food quality can vary depending on what you order, so there might be room for improvement in ensuring all menu items are up to the mark.
**Conclusion:**
Overall, our experience at That Bar at the Arena was very positive. It's a great spot for groups, especially if you're visiting from out of town and looking for a place that's both fun and welcoming. The staff, especially Caitlyn, goes above and beyond to ensure guests have a great time. While the food might be hit or miss depending on what you order, the drinks and the atmosphere more than make up for it. Definitely a place I'd recommend and visit again the next time I'm in town. Four stars!
Visited during MNF game Bengals vs Jags. Had a great time. Atmosphere and service were the best. Servers were fantastic and very friendly. Loved our experience.
Great place to hang out before going to the baseball game.
Went in before a Jumbo shrimp game and had a blast there. My husband and I had some shots and a beer and it was extremely lively and set the mood for the perfect night. Will be arriving early to the games just to grab a cold one at this bar.
I go here before every event in Jacksonville. It attached to the parking garage which makes it really convenient. Go with the Philly or chicken Philly. It's good stuff.
Place is noisy & didn't seem to have a/c working on Saturday, 22JUL, about 1600 when we were there.
Food was good. Order at a kiosk, pay, get a # to bring to table & food is delivered. Beverages are separate (order at bar, leave credit card & close out tab before leaving).
Coke here all the time before the sharks and shrimps game and never noticed the whole other bar on the patio. Glad we found it because Bobby was amazing!! Will go to him everytime now
If you want to eat there it's a bit of a mission cause there is more drinking than eating. The bartenders were awesome the kitchen was just slow.
Really fun! The food isn’t amazing but it’s good enough for pre gaming before the game
Food is serviceable. But we keep coming back because of the bar staff. They are awesome Among the best in Jax!
Good food for a great price, and plenty of beer and drink options kid friendly. Fang might even make an appearance.
Always enjoy stopping in before the Icemen games. Great atmosphere, service and food!
Visited the establishment after a Jumbo Shrimp game and the place was clean and friendly. Did not get food as the kitchen was closed before 10 or 11 pm. Beer was good!
