Finally found a great soul food spot that’s not PH Bistro. It’s a hot box inside, but they have a pretty extensive menu and the food is not salty and great. Only dropping a star because, it’s far from EXPRESS! My wait time standing in line was 45 min - 1 hr. Maybe some strategizing around that matter may be beneficial.

If you're ever in the mood for Sunday dinner at Grandma's house, this is your place! Prices are fair. People are always pleasant, and food tastes like a visit to my grandparents' house on a Sunday after church, in the 80's!

This was really some good southern cooking with southern hospitality you rarely receive these days. The banana pudding and the fried chicken were amazing.

If you need to be reminded of how 'good' Soul Food taste, you need to take the trip to Soul Food Express. We ordered 3 platters for the family and had enough for lunch the next day. The food was seasoned just right and everything had it's own distinct flavor profile (the green beans tasted like green beans and not like the collard greens, for example). Next time in Jacksonville, we will make the trip. Beware though, they are only open 3 days a week.

Ordered meatloaf dressing and cabbage. Meatloaf was a little dry but overall the food was good. Customer service was good. So this will be my go to restaurant for good home cooking.

This was an awesome Sunday meal. I was so excited bc it had been a minute since I had quality soul food. It was tasty not greasy or dry. Cornbread just right. Every time I come to Jacksonville I'm definitely making a stop at Soul Food Express
