Do you need a day off ? Wondering where to go that's not too far?? Let me tell you a story !!! ....My daughter and granddaughter, great granddaughter and I were on a mini get away , just needing a break and as we were browsing we found this wonderful place less than 3 hours from our home!!! The best place for bbq EVER !!! The brisket doesn't even need a fork to be cut it is so tender !!!!! Very reasonable prices, EXCELLENT food..I had the brisket sandwich and home fries, my granddaughter got the Sloppy Joe ( ain't no hamburger in this jewel!!) and swamp fries, my daughter got brisket and beans...we had more leftovers than you could shake a stick at !!!! Oh, my great granddaughter got a chicken quarter and it was just as fall off the bone tender as everything else( she's soon to lose her first tooth and the chicken was so tender, it didn't hurt her tooth at all )!! just right smokiness, just right seasonings...perfect !!! We plan on making day trips back to this beautiful little town, with this wonderful corner bbq place ...... What a find !!! well worth the trip !!!
I was visiting the area with family and we wanted to try this BBQ location out. I am so glad we did! This was some of the best BBQ, if not the best I have ever had! I live in Tennessee, and BBQ is huge here, but I honestly have to say this beats any restaurant that is in my home state. The quality, flavor, and quantity of food is simply in its own category. You will not be disappointed eating here.
Steven really knows how to choose meat , and is a master at smoking it. It used to be the ribs for me, but now I always have to order brisket. Right now it is on their wallpaper picture, and that's exactly what you get - perfectly smoked, juicy and with that little strip of charred fat that explodes with flavor in your mouth. My mouth is watering just thinking about it.
We love good BBQ. We usually only eat BBQ at home. Nothing ever compares to my husband's cooking, but this is the best BBQ we have ever eaten out. Brisket melted in your mouth. So tender and great flavor. Everything was great. Highly recommended.

After mentioning that our 3-day weekend plans included going to another town to a nameless BBQ place, a friend suggested Riverport in Jefferson. It is our new favorite BBQ place! The ribs and brisket were tender and tasty. The sides were a step above anything we've ever had at a BBQ joint.
Been here many a times and I've tried to get a bad meal here and they just refuse to give me one. One of the best BBQ restaurants I've ever had. Keep up the good work guys....and gals.
The second you walk in the door and breath in the aroma you know your in for something awesome!!!! From the Ribs to the Brisket and Swamp Fries to the Potato Salad everything is wonderful!!!!
Some of the best barbecue I've had in my life. The brisket sandwich had such an amazing flavor and the homemade barbecue sauce just make is even better. My family had the turkey and loved it equally as much. We will definitely be coming back next time we are in town.
Excellent brisket and the BBQ beans were especially good ! I thought the regular pinto beans could use a little more seasoning ! The brisket is definitely top 10 in Texas, maybe number 5 ! I'm going to try the Swamp Fries next time.
We love to eat at Joseph's Riverport BBQ, we drive an hour just to eat their BBQ!! The potato salad is AMAZING! The fried okra-YUM!!!
Excellent food, excellent customer service, and a wonderful friendly atmosphere. The ribs are wonderful, swamp fries with smoked turkey are amazing and the sweet potatoe fries were delicious. We have never been disappointed when we have had the chance to visit the area.
The price was astonishing for the amazing value of the food! I had the sliced brisket sandwich. It was so delicious just by itself I actually felt wrong adding the homemade BBQ sauce at every table! But I did add it to a few bites of the sandwich and it took my taste buds to another world!
Delicious! I had pulled pork it was fantastic. The sauce is perfect. Next time I will have the brisket...my daughter said it is the best. We truly enjoyed ourselves. Hands down the best BBQ around.
We stop here every time we go through Jefferson. I have loved everything we ever got here. I am especially fond of the incredibly decadent Swamp Fries. My husband had brisket, fries, and fried okra yesterday. Best fried okra I've had in years! Our grandson had sausage and fries.
The Bandito is excellent for $7.00. The only negative is not enough tables for indoor eating.
The sloppy Joe looks plain but tastes great and only $3!!
The food is awesome especially the swamp fries i think they are the best,but the chopped beef Bar-B-Q sandwiches and the prices are a good price for the amount of food you get and it's 10 dollars for the swamp fries...
Absolutely delicious. I had the brisket tacos, and my husband had the pork tacos. It was more than enough food. We shared the medium swamp fries, which were great. Just the right amount of flavor. Highly recommend will definitely be back.
Best beef brisket and the swamp fries are to die for! Stayed in Jefferson for 2 days. First and last meal we had in Jefferson was at this restaurant. The beef brisket was so tasty and melts in your mouth. I wasn’t a fan of Texas barbecue before because of my GERD issue, but for some reason after trying beef brisket here it now became my favorite. It wasnt too heavy in my stomach. Simply sumptuous!
Tried some East Texas bbq while visiting Jefferson, TX. Had the two meat plate. Brisket & ribs. Both had an amazing taste to them but the ribs had me wanting another order of them. My sides were potato salad & fried okra and the fried okra was the best I’ve ever had. Definitely making another trip next time I’m in town.
Still just as good as before. Brisket, sausage and turkey were all smoked to perfection. Pinto beans were great. Cole slaw was a little dry for me. Great small town restaurant. Great place to walk around town and see all the shops. Restaurant deserves all the great write ups.
Welcome to Jefferson, home of THE best chopped brisket sandwich in Texas - the state with the best BBQ. Riverport is worth the drive from wherever you are (I do my 5 hour pilgrimage about once a year). While there, don't forget to order some Swamp Fries (before you order another sandwich to go)
Ate there last weekend and it was FABULOUS!!!! I k ow good bbq, and it is there!!! My family had ribs, sliced brisket, turkey, potato salad, coleslaw, and fried okra!!! I've NEVER been to a place and everything was delicious!!! Also, the portions are HUGE!!! The service was spot on and super friendly!!! I'll be more than happy to drive 3 hrs again for more!!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!
