tandoori and biryani items are good...
we were coming back from Halloween night in NYC and wondering any restaurants would be open or not at Indian st (Newark Ave). few were open. we were heading for biryani pot but decided to give Parsis a try. Sitting area is not big, small congested and one would have to disturb others if they want to sit on sofa side. anyway, we settle on. it was not crowded, just 2-3 tables were occupied. we ordered goat biryani, chicken biryani, and tangdi kabab. prices were quite okay.
both biryanis were good, I would say best in that street, or on par with biryani pot. we asked for spicy tangdi kabab and god, was it spicy. YES...!!! though salt was a bit less, still it was sumptuous. I was totally satisfied with food though it was closing time. we even got 10% discount cause we checked in on Yelp. service was good.
tip: Parking is free if you contact them beforehand.
Has really good Chicken Biryani. Would recommend trying their Special Chicken Biryani served with salan and raita. Quantity is good enough for two people or two servings.
I would say 3.5 rating, nice flavored biryani. It's good but not the best biryani in the Indian street.
Great biryani's.
Cozy place at the heart of Indian street.
P.S - 5% discount if paid in cash.
I ended up coming here on someone's recommendation and do I regret it?! NO :)
Persis is my new favorite food joint on the Indian street.
So far I have tried the following -
1) daal tadka - tastes out of the world!
2) garlic naan - fresh and hot!
3) chicken biryani - was good!
4) andhra chicken curry - yummm! Ask for spicy if you're really into spicy food! You'll go crazy 😁
5) chicken mughlai - I was mind blown with the very first bit I tried! Hats off the chef!
The portions are good enough. And the base taste of curry is so good and distinctively different than other Indian restaurants on the block.
PS - might look dull from outside, but like they say, never judge a book by its cover.
Step in and go for the kill! 🥘🍚🍗
I've been to many Indian and Eastern eateries around the world. Persis food is one of the best. Its meals are all full of magnificent favor. The taste last long after you've finished the meal. The staff is extremely hospitable and always willing to over please and personally accommodate you. Thanks for the wonderful experience.
Awesome food! Nice place and nice service. We ordered the food online and requested to-go since it was almost closing time. The food was super hot and tasty (unlike most to-gos), the people were so nice they stayed back beyond the closing time just to deliver the food by hand to us. All the curries were great, and I was specially impressed by the Naans being so soft. There are many other Indian restaurants on that street that we tried, but Persis is the best- great taste, service, quality and quantity. Thumbs Up.
