It’s hard to argue with the value proposition and quality of this establishment. I had friendly, prompt, genuine service where the folks behind the counter were busy but interested in helping me. The roll for my cheesesteak was house made. Super soft on the inside. Crisp on the outside. For $10, it was more food than I could eat. In a perfect world, an establishment like this would exist in every small town.
Huge sandwiches. Delicious! Plenty of drink choices. Pickle chips and cream cheese poppers were good.
Top notch place. Came when in town for a wedding and was told I had to try the Rambo. Thing was an absolute throat missile. Tossed one of those and a Delmonico Steak sandwich right down the ol' grocery hole and I'm not sure I have ever felt like more of a hero. They also have frozen booze slushies and you can play the lottery here. It's like a fever dream in this establishment. The staff is also incredibly friendly and hard working, this place is a must if you are in Jim Thorpe, aka the Switzerland of the Poconos. Might as well call this place Suckdown City, because I would suckdown every item on this menu. Stop reading this and just go eat at Tommy's.
Tommy’s is a great place to get pizza, a sub, steak sandwich, alcoholic beverage, ice cream, and much more. It’s pizza, and it’s standard pizza for the area, but explore the menu and get other stuff, like the Rambo, or the Rambo pizza. The taco pizza is also incredible, so yeah, if you’re in Jim Thorpe and want pizza etc. this is the place you want to go.
Portions are great, food was good, and staff were helpful with providing suggestions for the menu. This was definitely a place highly attended by the locals. I got the Rambo sandwich and I really really liked the bread. The meats taste fine (but could use more seasoning in general). Other than that, it’s a decent local spot to stop by for a quick lunch.
I only gave 4 stars for the food because we just stopped in a grabbed a pizza , i know its a sub joint and ill bet they make great subs, the pizza was meh , it was just a step up from something you would find in a supermarket or something but far from the worst we had but hey like a said its not their specialty , next time im down ill have to try a cheese steak. Really nice people really decent place , better then any big franchise nonsense you find in every town , serving the same thing everywhere with zero originality, those places turned our country into a boring landscape deprived of discovery
I just love this place. The atmosphere is pleasant and staff are very friendly, got a great service. The fries are amazing. Price is affordable with lot of menu options.
A decent sandwich and tasty just not on a very good roll. Being from Philadelphia there is a certain expectation about having a very crusty roll for a hoagie and this was much more like what you would expect at Subway, a soggy bread roll. The sandwich was very tasty, but the roll is an essential part of the experience.
Top Notch. They make their own rolls! The food options are plenty and delicious . It's evident the owner takes pride in the business.
Awesome sub shop!! The girls behind the counter were extremely helpful to this newby. The Tommy's steak original with sauce and banana peppers is the real deal! Keep up the great work!!
I got the classic Tommy Cheese Steak, added the fried onions and mayo. The bread was so fresh and delicious. I will be back to sample more! And enjoy another local PA beer!
Pretty good food with alot of options plus plenty of different drinks to choose from in a cooler also the staff is very friendly would recommend 👌🏻
After driving past it for years, I finally stopped per a local kid's suggestion. Why did it take me so long? Best chicken cheese steak in a long time. Their rolls are awesome. Olympic Hoagie was impressive too. I will be going back to try more items next time inam in the JT area.
Very good pizzas with and Hoagies
The excitement on his face when I walked in with his pizza.
The food is great and the staff was helpful and accommodating. My son who is 3 is autistic and is a very picky eater. He just started pizza crust. So I requested if they can make him just a pizza with nothing on it. That is exactly what they made for him. Thank you!!
Nice little neighborhood sandwich shop with an eclectic mix of items: Coca-Cola Freestyle machine for fountain sodas, a wall of refrigerated individual sodas and beer, plus 40 oz. beer and 6-packs, plus 2-liters sodas, iced tea, and milk, plus a wide range of specialty sandwiches, a few salads and entrees plus pizza, either slices or whole pies. The desserts all look delicious: slices of cheese cake, individually wrapped brownies and some half pies.
Please note that they have a notice hanging on the refrigerated case that alcohol is for take-out only -- you cannot drink it in their dining room.
Strangely enough, they also sell lottery tickets, cigarettes, and Cracker Jack and bagged Trolli gummi candy.
I don't know why, but the Freestyle machine doesn't have root beer, but they do have other non-caffeinated choices. If you want root beer, they do have it in individual bottles.
Seating is a pair of standard sandwich shop four-seater booths, plus about eight stools arranged at two different counters. A TV was playing the Phillies game live when my girlfriend and I were there.
I got the 8" steak sandwich, fries and fountain soda special for $8.49. My girlfriend got "pizza fries", a fountain soda and a brownie. I got enough fries for two people, though Kelly said that they do reheat well in the oven... Our total was something like $18.xx.
I got my steak sandwich with everything: cheese, sauce, mushrooms, onions, hot & sweet peppers. Other Yelpers have said that the rolls are home made, which I would agree with. It was on the softer side but good.
CASH ONLY -- ATM machine is on the premises. Street parking...
