Real Mexican Food!. Best Mexican food in Juneau. Husband and I just discovered this gem of a restaurant and enjoyed what we believe to be the best, and the most authentic, Mexican food in the city.

Chicken Fajita's were really good, hubby had a burrito which he really liked.
I hope they can get a liquor permit, it sounds like they are trying too. That would make the place that much better.

Carne Asada Tacos. They're so delicious! They're small, double-wrapped, filled with the best carne asada I've had since I lived in San Diego, and topped with diced onions and cilantro. You get a choice of red or green sauce, but I recommend that you get both. I like them both, so I alternate saucing each bite. It's $10 for 3 tacos, so it's pricy but so worth it!
The Best Mexican in Juneau...Period!. Of all of Juneau's Mexican restaurants El Zarape is hands down the best in terms of food quality and authenticity not to mention bang for your buck. Simple, clean and appealing atmosphere at both locations. Everything on the menu is fresh, authentically Mexican, consistently prepared and attractively priced. The Salsas and mole sauce are OUTSTANDING. If you are looking for great Mexican skip the rest (especially The Hat) and head on over to El Zarape. You'll be glad you did.
Real deal.. Like others have said, best and most authentic Mexican food in town. Their mole sauce is incredible, and makes me feel like I am in Mexico. They even have the real deal Mexican orange soda in glass bottles, with REAL sugar. Friendly staff as well. Only complaint is the location, really out of the way. I am constantly recommending this place to local friends who have never heard of it.

The building isn't particularly beautiful, but they've got it where it counts ...the food is fantastic. Every single item on the menu that I've tried so far has been a knockout. It's the best Mexican in Juneau by a considerable margin and among the best Mexican I've ever tried. The serving sizes, wait times and pricing (roughly $14 per meal) are all average, but, again, the taste of the food alone is able to carry the overall experience into five star territory.

Juneau is not a place know for its diverse and delectable dining venues. Sure, there are several fine places to eat here but you will often find similar menus. Not here!
If you are looking for Quality, Authentic, Mexican dishes then look no further. This places offers just that. They do orders to go and have a small dining are for dinning in. There hours are a bit short but the food more than makes up for this little inconvenience.
Just go once and I'm sure you will find yourself back soon.
