Food was great ambiance is okay. Kailua spot is small it’s more like a space was provided so you can eat there if you need. It’s not like a restaurant where you’re like let’s go there to sit in and eat but more like let’s grab some food and go to the beach or take it home. Staff was really nice and friendly and the place was nice and clean. I would definitely recommend going to try.
A close local friend picked this up and brought it over to our house for dinner. The food is sincerely good, it's clean, healthy & so satisfying. The portions served are perfect. I'm a big eater & I felt perfectly full after the meal. The coconut cream dessert, Haupia is out of this world, definitely a crowd favorite. I look forward to visiting the store & eating again.
Superrr little whole in the wall lunch spot. Prices were good too! Sushi made with proper rice. We went at least twice during our stay on the island. I would highly recommend!
Hands down the best place we ate on Oahu! So delicious!! We got the big Bruddah with kalua pork, smoked salmon, spicy ahi, ahi poke, and smoked meat. We also got the lava roll and bread pudding. All of it was amazing! The bread pudding was good, not the best one we have had, but still good. But the food was so so delicious! Highly recommend!!
This place was absolutely incredible!!! Some of the best sushi we’ve ever had. We got the Lava Roll and Spicy Ahi Roll, and both of them were amazing. It was a great value for the price - the rolls had lots of tuna on them & the perfect amount of sauce and rice. You order outside in a window, and the staff was very friendly. Wish we stayed on the island longer so we could get it again!
OMG, you guys, soooooo good! This is my go-to spot for a quick bite to eat. It's a literal hole in the wall - they might work in the skinniest business you will ever see. (You will know what I mean when you get there.)
I ALWAYS go with the LBS Special which is a choice of poke and meats and I usually add in the shrimp tempura for a $1. On top of that, the LBS Special comes with a free drink. They use multi-grain rice which isn't my fave but I don't mind it because I feel like I'm eating healthier. Haha! My favorite choices are: ahi poke, spicy ahi and kalua pig. I used to love their kalbi, but every since they served it bone-in, I've been skipping that choice. I don't want to pay for a little meat on a big bone.
Parking is hit or miss. So here's my suggestions: call in your order ahead of time (even 5 or 10 minutes ahead) and have one person jump out to grab the order.
Local Boy Sushi is a gem in Kaneohe!!!
I got the Big Brutha plate. I forgot how its spelled and i really enjoyed it! Didnt take a pic ‘cause i was so hungry and it hit the spot. Guys working there were chill and helpful. Theres no seats but they recommended going to the He’eia State park where there were benches and a decent view. Would absolutely recommend!!
I have some friends that live on Oahu, and have visited several times. In my opinion, this is the BEST spot for poke on the island! The lava bowl is bomb! Spicy tuna with sweet unagi sauce - yum! Then the avocado and tempura shrimp were just a delicious added bonus. Props for offering something a little different than most poke places on the island. Definitely a must try if you're in Kaneohe!
Today we swung by there and got three cheeseburgers. Two teri and a regular. They were excellent, and the price was right. Overall. Very satisfied and would totally stop there again to get french fries with them and do the whole meal. Absolutely fantastic experience.
Great gluten-free options!!!! The cashier was knowledgeable in what ingredients do and do not contain gluten. He was able to help me create a super yummy gluten-free poke bowl to accommodate my gluten-sensitivity. The poke bowls are BOMB. My husband likes the lava bowl (not gluten-free). The cashier will even give you a small container of gluten-free soy sauce per request! 😊 highly recommend if you want a good poke or sushi hole in the wall with high quality and fresh ingredients
I had the deluxe cheeseburger and I was so shocked with how good it was. The best burger for only 4.25. Yes it is small but so full of flavor. My husband got the lava roll and it was super good! I also tried the hand roll maki with shrimp tempura for the first time and it was surprisingly good. The menu is a bit limited but so tasty.
If you’re hungry for some ono poke stop by this hidden gem. You won’t regret it. Food is fresh and delicious and the staff is friendly! Whenever I’m in Kaneohe I eat here!
This place is brilliant.
My wife and I visited Waikiki/Honolulu last week, and we ate at several high end sushi restaurants while we were there. We spent upwards of several hundred dollars per restaurant. None of them were as good as Local Boy Sushi.
The menu here is concise, but everything they make is made very well. A week later I am still day dreaming about the Lava Bowl. If I get the chance to return to Oahu, coming back here for sushi is going to be priority for me.
I came here too grab some platters for my friend's wedding. The stand was quick, the staff were really welcoming, and most importantly, the sushi was fantastic. The platters didn't stand a chance sadly so I have no photos, but it was definitely delicious. If only they were on the mainland (specifically Chicago) I'd be a happy camper.
Just got done eating and all I can say is WOW! Like this sushi blew me away with how flavorful and huge it was. I got the Spicy pack and my friend got the Lava roll and both of our first bites were explosive lol. We also got the bread pudding and that was amazing as well. Definitely will recommend to friends and anyone wanting to enjoy some awesome sushi
Best hole in the wall, local style food. I suggest the LBS bowl, 3 choices and drink, options for shrimp tempura and avocado, Lava roll is straight fire! (I dont mean hot or spicy) bread pudding is like no other. You will come back.
