My husband and I stumbled onto this tidy little cafe right off 435 & State Line in 2015, and we've been fans ever since. When a friend told me they'd never heard of it, I realized I should help get the word out. My husband, Chef Steve, is as picky as they come, so when he raves about Café Hà Tiên's Vermicelli noodle bowl with egg roll and grilled pork, it's gotta be good. Even a pescatarian like me can see the pork is perfectly grilled, the veggies and herbs are fresh and crispy, and the portion is generous enough that sometimes I get an extra crab Rangoon Steve can't eat! My favorite is the Lemongrass Tofu. It's unlike any Asian dish I've ever tried ... aromatic, perfectly seasoned and purely delicious. It's rare to find restaurants that excel at both meat & vegetarian dishes, but Café Hà Tiên never disappoints. I admit that I'm a fan of mom n' pop restaurants -- I'll take authenticity and personal touches over chain predictability any time. That said, Café Hà Tiên is truly a local gem. From their turbo-charged Vietnamese coffee to their delicious flan dessert, they're always clean, friendly, and eager to treat you to an authentic Vietnamese meal.

Best Pho in town! Nice clean restaurant, friendly staff, great place for lunch. I had the P1: Beef Pho and the broth was so rich and tasty, great add-ins with basil, cilantro, sprouts, lime, and a chili oil that really will spice it up if that is your thing. All for about $10 and I was so full! Highly recommend!

Clean cafe....excellent service...the owner who was the mother of our server dropped by our table and suggested we order the Lucky Buddha Beer..said it was her favorite and we could see why...great beer! I ordered the chicken noodle soup which was really flavorful and a generous amount...I am definitely going back here soon👍

Always a treat when we go there. Can't get enough fish sauce. It's a place wihere the smells and tastes speak to the palate and where the welcoming atmosphere delights the heart.

Good food, good people. We eat here whenever we can! It feels more like eating at a families home! It's easy to tell that love goes into what they prepare. The food is always consistently good!

Incredible food and fast service! Try the pho. We brought our 2 toddlers with us and they were very accommodating without us having to ask for anything.

Very good pho and very palatable to beginners too! Wow I can not tell you what a pleasure any of their appetizers and my favorite... the almighty P3. Edit: 7/18/17 Their customer service is great, their food even better. I have never left this place without being fully satisfied. I have now experienced 4 or 5 different restaurants and since I always order the same thing I now have a pretty good idea of what is quality. I can not tell you how good this place is. You just need to try it. I haven't had the same culinary experience elsewhere. This place has turned me on to Vietnamese cuisine.

Orders: Appetizer - crab reason Me - seafood egg noodles Wife - lemongrass chicken Service: Quiet, attentive service. It appears we came during the employee eating time, but that wasn't a problem at all and we still had good service and our drinks were consistently full. They even brought us a kids cup without asking. Food: I loved my egg noodles. They were flavored to my liking and the seafood was cooked too my liking as well. My wife stated she will not order hers again, but did say that it wasn't bad, just not what she expected. She said there was tons of curry powder. My daughter (who's two and a half) loved the crab Rangoon, but I personally didn't care for it due to the spices. Prices: Reasonable because they had good service and quality food.

We've tried practically every Vietnamese restaurants in the KC metro area and this is the cleanest, best food and service around! Their ingredients are not greasy or fatty, it is at the perfect healthy consistent proportion. The essence of great Vietnam cuisine is how they make their fish sauce, they are spot on in the flavor. Love the crepes and fish sauce!! This is definitely our go to Vietnamese cuisine restaurant. Highly recommend.

My wife and I went here for the first time about a month ago and loved it. We tried #21, the lobster fried rice, and it was fantastic. We also had #1, springs rolls, which were very good and crispy. I have also tried #13, the half marinated Cornish hen, and thought is was very juicy and cooked to perfection. Since my initial visit, I have gotten takeout as well from here too, and it was fabulous as well. I recommend Café Ha Tien to anyone and it is a great place for either lunch or dinner.

This is not the least expensive Pho in town. That being said, I really do not prefer the cheapest Pho in town. This place has all the amenities and service I expect from a family owned (and loved) eatery. I've had just about everything on the menu and each dish is in the top 15% tile of each feature, I've ever had. That being said, I love the broth of their Pho. There is something Homely, refreshing, light, and VERY satisfying about it. Granted, this is my neighborhood hang for Asian flavors, I'm am a bias lover of Cafe Ha Tien. I just wish they were open on Mondays...

Awesome authentic Vietnamese food... At least as far as I know about the authenticity since I'm not from Vietnam. I usually go during lunch and it's always pretty full, but I've never had to wait for seating. Food is incredible service is great as well.

We have tried all the Vietnamese restaurants around and today's visit here was the best. The food was fresh and tasty and the service was spot on. What really did it for me were the small things. I usually get a dish that would come with an egg on top of the rice. I've tried unsuccessfully at other places to have the yolk runny. So I stopped asking. Today's meal was a cornish hen with the egg on the side and it was perfect. The hen was fried just right. All around good restaurant, definately recommend coming here!

Delicious food, easygoing service, reasonable prices. Definitely worth a visit or regular lunch. A bit small but for a Friday lunch, there were still some free tables at noon. I strongly recommend the Vietnamese crepes.

I had some pretty decent pho here for the first time yesterday, up on recommendation from a co-worker. I will more than likely make this my vietnamese "go-to" spot, because it is located very close to my home. If you like pho, this place has as good of pho as most good vietnamese places. It is by no means a fancy place or any kind of "experience" but if you enjoy a good bowl of pho, this place won't let you down.

I loved eating here. The service was great, the food was delicious, and it was all reasonably priced. They had a lot of options and it all looked really good. Their calamari was delicious and their Pho was also good

My favorite place for vietnamese food in south KC. Staffs are very friendly and helpful when you are trying to decide what to order. If you are not sure what to have try their fried rice, it's really good!
