Amazing food! I ordered chicken makhani and my SO ordered chicken tandoori. Both were perfect. The service is very good at all. They made us feel like apart of their culture
We had the chicken tikka masala and it was one of the best I've had! If you're a tikka masala guy like me this place will hit the spot just right! Highly recommend!

I am a big Indian food fan, and this place is excellent. I don't understand why a person would not like this place unless they just werent fans of Indian food (in which case they shouldn't submit a "doesn't like".) My husband and I both had the chicken tiki masala and it was delicious. Ignore the low "like" rating, if you like Indian, this is the place.
Delicious!. We had samosas, tikka marsala, navratan korma and lassa naan which all tasted authentic. It also had a pleasant atmosphere. Rahul was a delightful server who provided excellent customer service.
Delicious food, great service. Try the buffet - you get a lot of bang for your buck. I don't usually go for buffets (I find the food stale and unappealing), but this was fresh and delicious.

I love shavalik indian cuisine. i spent two years in india as a peace corps. volunteer. i enjoyed real indian food. since i returned from india, i have tried many indian restaurants, especially on the mainland. those restaurant have never came near to the quality of indian food i experienced in india. only shivalik indian cuisine ever came close to what indian food is really like. shivalik indian cuisine is authentic, truly delicious and truly authentic. hindisthani khana.
another review on this website did not like shivalik. the review stated that the owner of the restaurant acted inappropriatly and rude and also treated the staff without respect.
i have known naresh for only a short time, but i have found to be a gentleman who treats every individual with respect. one gets the feeling from being around naresh of respect and gentleness. the review, written by the person that criticized the owner and the food, as must have come from the competition. everybody that i have ever spoken about shivalik lovethe food and speak phrases of admiration bout the owner.

One of Kauai's Best Restaurants. I eat out at least once a day and like to try all the restaurants on Kauai.
Fortunately Shivalik Indian Cuisine is located close to my office and since opening I have tasted their excellent dishes several times. Their extensive menu is exceptional although I prefer the chicken curries. It's great to have a new ethnic restaurant on Kauai, especially one with such great exotic flavors.
I have met the owners and managers and they are very friendly and courteous. Hiring good wait help is probably the most difficult problem for any service oriented business on Kauai. Generally speaking the service has been very good, especially for a new restaurant. I see turnover so I know they are striving to provide the best possible.
For anyone not knowing about Indian cuisine or what to order I would suggest they first try their lunch buffet. They always have a wonderful variety of flavorful dishes to choose.
I wish them the best and encourage everyone to try their superb carte du jour.
I like it. The restaurant is decorated. It is more elgant than the every day restaurant. The food is wonderful. I love the Naan bread and the curry dishes. My favorite appetizer is Samosa. Yum!
MICHAEL. I have lived in the San Francisco Bay Area and New York City. I know good Indian food and while i am not crazy about the shopping center atmosphere outside of Shivalik Restaurant once inside, all is forgiven. The decor is well done and the seating very comfortable. I find most restaurants noisy, but not here. Of coarse, the food is what it's all about. DELICIOUS ! Had a conversation with the friendly manager who came over to our table. He was most accommodating to my wife who has dietary restrictions. We have now had dinner tice at Shivalik and plan to return as budget allows,
At Last!. Shivalik is wonderful! As a former New Yorker who is serious about her Indian food, Kauai finally has a delicious and authentic Indian restaurant. In the first week it was open, I went three times. The staff is over-the-top attentive and courteous. And when the saag I craved wasn't on the menu, no problem, they made it. I can't say enough good things about Shivalik!
Outstanding!. I am a relative newcomer to Indian food having grown up in the midwest and don't think I can remember the names of any of the dishes. The flavors, though, were amazing! The staff was very friendly, enthusiastic, and helpful, especially in explaining what the various dishes were. The waiter even coached me on what I might like best and let us determine how spicy for them to prepare the dishes. The manager went from table to table and made sure that all of the patrons were satisfied. It was a great dining experience and I can't wait to go back.
WONDERFUL!. The food at Shivalik Indian Cuisine is fabulous. I am so happy they opened on Kauai. I am half-Indian and grew up eating Indian food. Shivalik's food is as wonderful as my family's and as delicious as I've eaten each time I've been in India.
I have worked with the owners of Shivalik since before they opened and they are wonderful, too. They are kind, considerate, polite and very excited to be open on Kauai.
Please support this restaurant so we can all continue to enjoy fabulous Indian food (try the lunch buffet) on Kauai!
Great for vegetarians and super friendly staff! I generally don't eat Indian food but it definitely exceeded my expectations and everything was so tasty, believe that says a lot! My partner absolutely loves it, so we decided to go out for dinner last night when they were having the buffet. He's been going to this place for years and since they changed management he said you could tell the difference in the quality of the food, much more authentic. We also ran into some people we've known back in Boulder, Colorado so that added to the fun of the night!
Nice indian restaurant in Hawaii, with tasty food and decent prices. Staff was nice and polite, but it took a while to be served. We have been there for a late dinner.
Had Daal Makni and chicken Kharai with Jeera rice. They had good flavor. Portion is that two people can split curry with extra order of rice.
Had Alloo tiki for appetizer. Soaked in oil otherwise good.
Service is good. Pricy but it is Hawaii. Location is great. Walking distance from Sheraton resort.
I rather enjoyed my meal here. I have not eaten authentic Indian food before so I can't speak to know accurate the preparation and taste was. I did however enjoy everything I ate from the buffet (Friday night).
I'm sure I'll be back again.
One of the best food on the island and probably one of the tastiest paneer makhani and paneer tikka masala in USA. The owners are really friendly. Pooja was a smiling face. Praveen accommodated us last minute before our flight so thankful for that. Our last 5 meals were at this place because it is so delicious. Rana, you’re the sweetest host. Everyone here is very friendly. Must try the paneer curries here!!!
After a long week of eating solely fish and shrimp, my family grew tired of seafood. We were assured by the staff the meat is halal. The Chilli chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani and lamb curry were so appreciated after this long of a week. The garlic naan was amazing as well. The service was great and speedy. Would recommend.

YES YES YEA! The most sweetest owners. I ordered 2 of the same things with my husband but she offered for me to try other new things and if I didn’t like it than she would switch it out! She also didn’t charge me for the extra naan, the filled the waters up very often and the food was AMAZING!! Samosa was so good too! Naan 🫓 was very very good.
Everything was so tasty except the lentil soup. Had a funky smell. The lady was so sweet when we came to pick up our food, family vibes. If you’re going to order pick up, call them directly. Uber eats way overcharged us for the dishes. The coconut curry was $19 and not a huge portion.

Had lunch here on Saturday with family. We ordered only veg items and all were served quickly and tasty. The Dal was bit over salted & upon our intimating it to the waiter, it was replaced immediately. Definitely worth trying.
Thankful to find these guys on the island. As vegetarian, the choices gets limited on island. After much of other delicious food, we found shivalik, who had finger licking Indian cuisine. After eating first bite, it was obvious the chef was certainly well trained/experienced. The staff was also welcoming, I would certainly recommend everyone to stop by at least once while on the island.
Shivalik was fantastic! The service was very nice and quick. The food was delicious. On our first visit, I had Chicken Tandoori (Spicy) and my wife got the Fish Tikka, which was fresh Ono. Both were fantastic and spiced perfectly to our request. The food really was quite tasty.
After two days of hiking and overnight camping on the Kalalau Trail, all we could think about was eating ourselves into a food-coma at Shivalik! It was a Wednesday, which meant buffet night!! Amazing! A fantastic selection of all the classic Indian dishes with friendly service! My wife, in a post-hiking ravenous state, was craving the Kashmiri naan, which was not on the buffet. After piling our trays embarrassingly high with Indian delicacies, we discovered a fresh naan on our table baked just for us!!

My husband and I really enjoyed our meal! He ordered chicken Makhani and I ordered Bhaighan Bartha. We shared a garlic naan, and we both tried homemade Mango Lassi. The service was very good too. We’ll be coming back soon!

Our dinning experience is fantastic ..and especially the chilli chicken was outstanding ...the flavor of the food is authentic,... my first experience with lamb was surprising too good!
I'm writing a review after almost 12 years, when I was probably one of the first Indian origin pilot to have trained in Kauai.
I wish I could come back and go back to this excellent place.
I had the best Indian food in all of the Pacific hands down and my crew loved it too. I met the owner and the chefs, it was a wonderful experience and I just had to write a review since I was talking about this place today after 12 years to my relatives in Canada.
I wasn’t sure about going to this restaurant, thought I would be disappointed with bad indian food but I was pleasantly surprised!
It’s thanksgiving so most restaurants were closed in the area so we decided to check out their buffet.
The food was not as spicy as I would have liked but the mixed vegetable coconut curry, tandoori chicken, vegetable pakoras, chicken tikka curry, chickpeas and fried bread in the buffet were really good!
I didn’t like palak paneer because they use TOFU instead of paneer, it’s a crime to call tofu paneer and the mango custard dessert was just mango purée out of a can, they can at-least add some yogurt and turn it into lassi for dessert!
All in all, this isn’t authentic Indian restaurant quality but the food can satisfy both Indians and non-Indians. If you are in the area do give it a try!
