So so good!!! The fresh fruit syrups tasted amazing, especially when paired with a little sweetened condensed milk on the ice. I got the raspberry, and it tasted like I had just picked a berry off the bush! It is so fun to watch them shave the ice in front of you. Well worth $7 or $8 - it's huge, and fresh! (Reminder: cash only). Be sure to get there early before they sell out for the day!
100% organic real fruit, hand made shave ice. 100% delicious. Never too sweet, always just right. Get there early and expect at least a 20 minute wait but it's worth it.
So fluffy and delicious, completely worth the wait (about 25 minutes). They use a hand crank ice shaver and carefully layer the fruit syrup and condensed milk throughout which is why it can take a bit of time but the result is the best shave ice I have ever had! Do arrive early because they can sell out - I got there just in time for the last batch of orders before they put out their closed sign at 3:45 because they were running out of ice.
I read about this shave ice truck on a blog page and knew I had to try it. I love that they use organic ingredients. Getting to watch your shave ice be made is also super fun. I tried the strawberry and it was definitely the best I have ever had. Highly recommend trying it.
You know how you absolutely HAVE to visit the Na Pali Coast while on Kauai? Well if you are a fan of shave ice, you absolutely HAVE to visit Shave Ice Tege Tege. We waited about 50 minutes for our shave ice, but you can’t rush perfection. They hand crank the ice machine, they layer the flavors over and over again, and they top it all off with fresh fruit. Make sure you bring cash because they don’t take card, and make sure you get there early because once they are out, they are out.
100% recommend.
Amazing! Different than any other because of the incredible snow like quality of the ice. The super fine ice could literally blow away in a breeze! Syrups are all natural - it's more like fruit pulp v. the sugary/watery/artificial syrup used by most. Definitely the best "non-traditional" Japanese style shave ice on Kauai! (Visited Aug 2016)
Just incredible. Get the Soursop. By far the best shaved ice on the island, what can be said about this place that hasn't already been said? Truly the fluffiest shaved ice, it's almost like fine snow. The flavors are so delicious you'll want to try them all, but bmy favorite was the Soursop. They have ice cream available for extra but it's not necessary in my opinion, it's fantastic as-is. Pretty much no matter how long the line is, it's worth it.
Green Tea Shave Ice was so delicious and soft. This can be the best Shave Ice on Kauai.
Amazing shaved ice but expect a long wait. Luckily, the day I went there were two people making the orders which sped things up a bit but my friends went when there was only one and they said it took forever. It still took us about 30 min for us to place an order and get it on a weekday afternoon at 3:30 PM. We got the strawberry shaved ice and added ice cream which is a must. The sauce and fruit on top tasted very fresh. It's a nice treat on a hot day.
Now this is gourmet shave ice! Fresh ingredients that actually tastes like fruit because that's what they really are. Beware, you may have a wait (we waited an hour one day), but it is so worth it! Each one is hand made by one of two people and it is clear every attention is made to make sure it will be the best shave ice you will ever taste. Are there 3 times in a week!
$8 for most shave ice orders, go ahead and pay the extra $2 for their vanilla ice cream. Sure it takes them a minute to make them and it’s a little more expensive than their competitors BUT they make sure each one is made with care and quality. It’s their art.
All natural flavors.
Rumor has it that all flavors are delicious. Lilikoi was awesome. Strawberry is a big hit. I hear blackberry is also terrific. Both served with fresh fruit on top.
Some of the best shaved ice that I’ve ever had. Got there early (first in line) and waited for the artist to create a masterpiece. Had the strawberry shaved ice with ice cream, and it was a real treat! Will definitely visit again!
The shave ice at this place is made with so much flavors unlike many other places I've tried where its mostly ice with a little bit of syrup on top. These guys really pack in layers alternating from the natural flavor of your choice and ice. Service is a bit slow so be understanding because they do take their time making each cup.
Waited 2 hours to get my order taken. Never have I ever waited that long for anything, but I was on vacation, so I really didn't mind it. It was pretty hot & I kept thinking to myself, "man this better be worth it" as I am.not a huge shave ice fan.... But it was SOOOO worth it. So flavorful! And so refreshing.
First off, you're going to be waiting a while. Accept that. This is because you're primarily buying art, not shave ice. They crank the machines by hand, layering in syrup as they go. Their natural flavors are excellent and worth the price (you're going to pay a few bucks extra compared to most other places on the island). They carefully craft the top of the dome so every dessert is instagram worthy, tasting as good as it looks.
We must have lucked out and did not have to wait long. I can see that it would take a while if there were a lot of people. It's hand crank machine and done with detail and perfection. It's not just a pile of shaved ice drenched in syrup. Seems like what I commonly hear of the culture in Japan. They shave layers of ice, add flavoring, then add another layer. I think it was actually the moderation of syrup that made it taste better! Had the strawberry, but I heard the green tea is good. Also tasted our friends lilikoi and that was good too!
Worth the wait.. awesome shaved ice.. always busy and they take their time to make your order... personally love green tea so tried the same and fell in love.. I’m sure all the flavors are just as good...
Best Shave Ice on Kauai by far. Thick handmade syrups from organic and local ingredients layered in to hand shave ice from round blocks. So smooth and creamy. Get there early (they open at 11:30am) as I'm told they only sell 150 a day and they they stop
Great location, halfway between South Shore and Hanalei. Great place to stop on the way. Plenty of parking. Great shave ice and variety of flavors as compared to other places. This style adds condensed milk and ice cream if wanted to the ice. Would definitely come back!
