I absolutely love their breakfast sandwiches. My favorite is tuna on sourdough. We tried most of the sandwiches and they were all delicious. My daughter loves their oat latte. I also like their delicious olive bread and chocolate chip cookies.
For years we have made Lil’s Cafe a must stop while visiting Maine. During the Covid epidemic we got our orders placed online. This past Sunday we visited the cafe early in the morning hoping to find a well stocked showcase. We were thus rewarded. The baked goods are wonderful, the staff on that day would get one star at best. After stepping up to the counter and beginning to give my lengthy order I was asked to shift over to the next register. The person taking my order became the person filling my order while another young woman keyed me into the system. I had been giving my order to the person filling my order but the cashier sanctimoniously said to me “Hon, hon, look at me I’m taking your order, she can read it over my shoulder” First, I am not Hon. I am a very cognizant 75 year old woman who was in a loud and somewhat hectic environment trying my best to give a $75.00 order and get it right since one does not have the benefit of having the items in front of them to chose from. Of course in reading back my order items were omitted. We also found later we had been read back an item that was not in the box. All this said I still tipped the staff as my family is in the industry and I don’t believe in making all pay for the one weak link. Your product is great, worth standing in line for. We’ve supported your business since you opened even though we live in the Hudson Valley of NY. We’ve also sent a lot of folks your way. I honestly was so put off by the ingenuity of your staff I may think long and hard before going out of my way to stop again.
Very yummy cruller style donuts! We stopped in because of the #PortlandFoodFights Donut competition and were not disappointed! We got a pineapple rum cruller, a cinnamon cruller, and a plain. As well as a biscuit. The biscuit is huge! With a really good flavor. The crullers were some of the best we've had in ages. There was a huge love, but it moved pretty quickly.
Cute and tasty coffee shop snugly tucked on the main drag. You come here for the baked goods and coffee, seems much anything else leads to a mixed bag of results.
The infamous crueler was almost inexcusably sweet and went down well with a shot of their expresso (be warned - their shots are doubles already). They had gluten free and allergen friendly baked goods and ready to go. I had one of their breakfast wraps (egg, black bean spread, and hot greens?) and was sad to see that it didn’t hold up well in the heated drawer and sadly threw it away.
They also hosted a cute used vinyl vault inside the store just to the back left.
Highly advise for a cute spot to check in, grab a snack, and sit for a coffee.
Bonus points: check out a smoothie from the repurposed atm booth just ten steps away to compliment their offerings.
One star removed for the subpar breakfast wrap experience
Lil's cafe is an absolute gem. The place has a lot of character, super bright, lots of art and that bank safe door guarding the collection of vinyl. The food is delicious, fresh and tastes different. It's kind of unique. Great coffee, very nice staff and very hard to decide what to eat!!
This place is so cute and very delicious! We ordered a few sandwiches, some baked goods, and coffee. It all tasted great and the employees were very nice.
Not my first time at Lils and still really good in terms of service, food and drink selections. No wait this morning but we went later in the morning. Plenty of spots and tables to sit outside and enjoy the nice weather. Will be back again...
We pulled in and saw a line out the door. First thoughts were it must be good. It was better than good! The crouffin may be my favorite pastry of all time. My friend and I each also got bagels and they were delicious. Such a cute spot that we will visit again when in the area.
