Well prepared Italian food, inexpensive, good service
The Bistro is a short block from The Conrad Performing Arts Center. This is an excellent choice if attending a concert in La Jolla.
A Hidden Village Gem
Berninis is a relatively small restaurant located in the original Village area of La Jolla, but whatever it may lack in size it more than makes up in food, ambiance and service. Often the owner and his wife are there to greet patrons and if not, the friendly bar staff and wait crew make sure your visit is a good one. Great wine list, appetizers and specials await and the serving are more than generous. It’s not
unusual to run into celebrities or politicians there either. Perhaps the highlight above the food and service is the wonderful paintings that adorn the walls created through the inspirational artistic talent of the owner! Not a place to be missed when you’re in La Jolla!
We ate here on our first night in La Jolla. Excellent friendly service. Between us we had salad, pizza and their dinner special pasta all were very good. The restaurant is well established and whilst it is not on the bay it is well worth a visit.
Excellent seafood and gluten free options. Service and aluminium were the same
Nice breakfast for the price!
The special was great. I ordered the special of the day which was stuffed sole fish. It tasted very fresh and light. I had good service also. I was visiting from out of town and there are so many restaurants in La Jolla, I guess I lucked out and picked a good one.
Good food, interesting owner. While in La Jolla, we visited Bernini's because the owner was a family friend of our hosts. The food was overall very good. The shrimp diavola was FANTASTIC, and the seared ahi was quite good as well. Can't argue with a dessert of chocolate gelato either. We were also treated to the owner's presence at our table for the entire meal, which was nothing less than entertaining.
What a gem. Seafood was great. Atmosphere was great. Service was excellen!
I went here recently with some family and we were very impressed! We got to sit outdoors and the staff were so friendly. We loved the ambiance and look of the restaurant, it was so clean and felt fancy.
For appetizers, we got their glorious garlic and the calamari. The calamari was very crispy and it also came with a few pieces of shrimp! The glorious garlic was amazing! It had an intense garlic flavor and the texture was nice and chewy!
My friend ordered the fettuccine nero. I didn't get to taste it but my friend assured me it was delicious. The sauce was creamy and very flavorful. The main event was the pizza with lobster tails: the perfect storm! It made my jaw drop as it came out! There was so much seafood on the pizza, it's well worth the hefty price! I also had their Silent Paradiso drink. It was light and so refreshing.
We loved eating here and enjoyed the friendly service and delicious food. Highly recommend!
My first time here and it certainly won't be my last. Great menu! Great food! And a real value! You can't go wrong at this bistro!
This was really a great find that we just came across. Very small, cozy place, with great service, and even better food. Do you love garlic? Then have no hesitation to order the garlic bread, it is a pizza, but it is A- MA- ZING, seriously. Short Rib Pasta is another freaking amazing dish. Wife had the trout with almonds, and to close things off, we had the tiramisu. One of the best Italian-themed bistros we've been to. So glad we came across this place, as I write this review a few weeks later, I wish I had the opportunity to go there once again.
Bruhhhh. This place is not only Quaint and Cozy... its frigging amazing. The service, especially at the Bar is phenomenal. They are fun and friendly. The pizza is fantastic. And if your going to see a comedy show at the Comedy Store... come here first... they are quick and understanding if your in a rush... so pleasantly surprised by this gem in LA Jolla
Delicious! Great cocktails too. I love the calamari, short ribs, and pizza. Best gluten free crust I’ve had. Beautiful terrace. And the tiramisu is to die for! Amazing service as well.
The atmosphere is nice and lively. Bartender and owner were very friendly and courteous. Wood fire pizza oven right next to the bar, so cute. Great drink choices. Lovely place to get great Brussels sprouts and beer
The food at Bernini's Bistro is simply outstanding. Each dish is prepared with great attention to detail and bursts with flavor. Whether you're a fan of pasta, seafood, or steak, you're sure to find something that suits your taste buds. The ingredients are fresh, and the presentation is impressive.
My fave was “the perfect storm” pizza lobster, salmon, shrimp, arugula with a delicious crust. Well done 👏
We only heard about this place on a whim, but it turned out to be one of the best eating experiences I've had in a while. The staff were so friendly and the wait time for food was practically nothing, even with an almost full house. I'm definitely eating here again when I'm back in the area!!
On Labor Day looking for a place to eat, we found this place. Being open minded, we gave it a try.
First impression of the place was clean, pleasant esthetics. The patio looked nice to us.
We got started with delicious complimentary bread and seasoned oil.
We shared the beet salad. Main dishes: gnocchi and pizza. Everything delicious! The staff was very friendly and humorous.
Came here with the family on a Monday night and it was pretty busy. The host seated us in a nice corner booth. All of of food was very good and so was the service. I would definitely recommend this place. Not a cheap or quick place to eat, but worth the money.
