Had a wonderful evening last night having drinks and dinner while watching the sunset.....mesmerizing! Staff was friendly and helped my navigate their menu. Chose the chicken breast with garlic and was not disappointed. However, I did recommend a tip to add cilantro to the potato wedges for an extra kick just like Diadem's lounge in Prüm, Germany. Minor cons were the tasteless sangria and the overpriced German riesling $40 a bottle. I bought the same bottles for less than $10 while stationed in Germany. No German wine on any menu should be over $20 - $25. Just my humble opinion. Overall delicious cuisine fused with friendly staff made for one magical evening! Plan to return soon!!
Our waitress was incredible. The view was amazing. We are vegetarians and the chef was kind enough to prepare the “impossible” burger for me for dinner even though it was on the lunch menu. It was fantastic. Great experience. Thank you.

Coming from Phoenix every summer, George’s rooftop bar and dining is pure heaven. The view is amazing, their food is great it’s not A+ necessarily like you’d maybe hope but it’s at least an A- or A, their desserts are great and coffee to cap off the night.

Amazing!!! Recomended by a friend. Went to check this spot out and was blown away. The food is to die for (tried the lobster roll, mussels and fish tacos; liked them in that order). The view is beautiful up on the patio. The service was great - the waitress was so nice, fast and even brought out some fruit for the kids!

I came here with a group of friends during restaurant week. We sat up on the patio and the views were amazing! The staff was friendly. The mushroom sweet potato tacos were decent. The sticky toffee pudding cake was out of this world delicious! The ocean view and dessert made it worth paying for valet due to the fact this area is so crowded its hard to find free parking.
Has an amazing view out over the sea but you’d be lucky to get a table next to the view as it’s so popular. Food is good and cocktails. Make sure you have ID for those cocktails...

Beautiful view from the roof! Have a glass of wine or three, get a few apps to share and you will have a great day! Hopefully you will see a dolphin playing in the water!
So far my favorite restaurant I've ever been to. The food was flawless, drinks were great, service exceptional, and view was perfect. It's pricey, but 100% worth it if you find yourself in San Diego.

View and ambience are second to none, however, I can't say the same about the food. I wouldn't say the food was bad but I expected a little more. Overall, still a must go place for the ocean terrace view alone, great place to have drinks.
Loved it here! This restaurant has a very nice ambience and view! We sat at the top floor at the roof terrace. Short simple menu with some really good choices with some good desserts and of course some great drinks! Would definitely come again next time in La Jolla

George’s at the Cove: Ocean Terrace has been one of my favorite spots to take people from out of town looking to splurge on a nicer meal with a killer view. I’m sad to report it has been quite a while since I last visited. I think my absence coincides with the dismay I felt when I found out they added surcharges for restaurant week items years ago. It was one of the first ones, if not the first one I remember ever doing that. But much like my Wendy’s ban of 10+ years, it was time to let it go. After all, my parents were in town and one of the only requests from my mother was to dine at a restaurant with a nice view.
I loved taking people to this place who weren't from California, because it has such gorgeous views of the ocean . I always ate outside on the terrace…the weather's typically perfect year round, so why not? The ambiance is casually elegant, and the service is impeccable. They were always cool about me tying up my dog one short flight of stairs down. Last time I was here, I had a super delicious burger with blue cheese, and caramelized onion. The sticky toffee pudding cake was excellent as well…the toffee sauce, with the ice cream, which I'm pretty sure is made on the premises, is unbeatable.
My boyfriend and I came here for lunch. We sat right at the edge so we could see the gorgeous cove.
I had a cocktail with champagne which was delicious, and an amazing short rib sandwich. My bf had the burger and loved it! Will definitely go back next time!

Absolutely lived up to hype in food taste, quality and presentation. Service was very attentive and with restaurant week in full swing a value menu at that. 6 people and 6 different meals and each loved their selection. I loved the pineapple jalapeño margaritas. I was shocked actually with the rudeness of patrons. Stuck up pricks. 1 more drink and I would have...anyway George's delivered
The service was ok. The food was awesome! The view was awesome! We ate on the bar level, wasn't too cold. The halibut was a little bland, but everything else was amazing. We ordered a chocolate cake and the manager also ordered us a carmel pudding cake which was a nice surprise. Both where very tasty. There was a dj there which added to a fun atmosphere, i wouldn't recommend bringing kids on this level. Overall it was very nice.
The view from all levels is spectacular. The atmosphere is classy but casual and not at all stuff. The drinks are pricy, but good. We got the chips and salsa, which were fresh, crisp and worth every penny of their $6.50 price tag. We also got both the fish and shrimp tacos- each of which was superb.
The sunset view, the fish tacos and more importantly the smoked chicken soup. That is all you need to know.

Best calamari ever. Crunchy with a bit of sea salt brought out the flavor.
Entree of vegetable skewers on top bed of tabouli salad with crunchy pita strips on top was delicious and perfect for a light meal. Hanger steak frites with garlic herb butter delicious.
Halibut special was also great.
Dessert was blackberry and beet cobbler a la mode.
Sat on roof top patio with beautiful views of the ocean beyond glass walls. Perfect!

My favorite restaurant in La Jolla. Our group organized dinner at George's at the Cove and it was fantastic experience. Loved the service, food and ambiance.
Wanted to try this place the last time I was in San Diego. I love the decor and the atmosphere of the restaurant, very modern and has a great view. The presentation of the food was great, but I have to say the food was just okay. I found all the dishes I tried was over seasoned and salty. The service was great and the price is on the higher end. Would I come back? Probably not, but definitely happy that I crossed it off my list.

A must when visiting La Jolla!. I celebrated my birthday there last week for lunch. I had a delicious martini with a gourmet hamburger and fries...yummy! Waitress was great and even gave me a complimentary bottle of olive oil as a birthday gift. So nice! Best part was the location and view! Would love to go back!
Favorite Restaurant. I have been coming here for longer than my memory serves me. In fact, I had my First Communion party here. It is bar-none the best food in San Diego and is as consistent as a restaurant can get. The top deck is great for summer lunches and dinners, the middle is a great vibe for after-work drinks and the bottom, well, is great for a splurge. I recommend the Asian Marinated Skirt Steak along with George's Soup. Both are to die for.
Worth the visit. Made a reservation two weeks in advance and rudeness lifted. Hard to eat somewhere where you must wait, but it is worth it. Love the fish tacos and mahi mahi. Desserts (chocolate cake and toffey cake) are awesome. Make a reservation to get here.
Love it here!. Beautiful view and atmosphere. My friend and I were seated by the window and we were able to watch the sunset with an ocean view. Excellent service. The server was really helpful with pairing the wine and recommending what to choose from the menu. Delicious food too! When I went for the restaurant week, they had the braised lamb shank and it was so tender and juicy. Overall it was excellent.

OMG!. One of the best views from a restaurant in California. The food was delicious, it was a warm sunny day, the rooftop was packed, our waitress was smiling, what's not to love.
Lovely. Lived up to its reputation. Fabulous view and lovely decor, excellent service, and a generally outstanding meal. The date salad and the beet salad were exquisite, the risotto scrumptious, the salmon delicious. Presentations were great. The only imperfection was that the duck was a tad on the chewy side.

Very good food with a view. First off....the view is great as we ate on the Terrance. Had reservation.....a must.....for 6:45 and that was perfect. The wife and I watch the sun go down over the pacific....what more do you want?
The food and service were very good. I had the halibut special and the wife had the beet salad and fish tacos for dinner. We also got the strawberry rhubarb dessert....awesome. Everything was great and the service was top notch.

Great food.. Their creme brulee is to die for. The flavors of the vanilla beans, topped with the assortment of fresh fruit and shortcake was amazing. All their other stuff is amazing too, but their creme brulee stood out the most. Try to eat on the terrance, it's a beautiful view.
Best Fish Tacos-EVER. Ok, so I've only eaten fish tacos up and down the California coast and in KC, MO (go ahead and laugh, there are fish tacos here and most of them are bad) but so far, none have compared to George's!!

Fantastic dining experience. Whether it is the ocean terrace for lunch, the bar level for hapy hour, or the main level for fine dining, the food matches the fantastic views.
Great food. I ate at George's for the first time last Tuesday. Having a drink on the ocean terrace is something beyond wonderful, especially with the great La Jolla weather.
For dinner, I had the hanger steak...not really sure what cut that is, but it's got to be similar to a flank steak. Anyway, it wasn't the most tender, but I couldn't see spending $49 for the Kobe steak. That said, it did have a nice barbeque sort of crispiness to it and the flavor was unbelievable. All in all, I recommend this dish. For dessert, fresh sorbet in four flavors which was darn near perfect.
General recommendation: This place is a keeper, but keep your hand on your wallet!
Wow!! We ate at the bar level and everythimg was terrific. The hostess, the waitstaff, the food(shrimp tacos, georges soup, and the sparkling cosmo). The best eating experience so far in california. Highly recommended. Cant say enough.

Great View and Great Food. I ate dinner here (on 15 Nov 2008) after a long day of sightseeing. This place has multiple levels, but we ate on the roof-top terrace with a view of the Pacific. We were also lucky enough to have a seat near the edge so we had a unobstructed view of the sunset. The food was great and the service was even better. We had their famous signature soup, and when we told the waitress how much we loved it she informed us that they would be willing to share the recipe. We were happy and will attempt the recipe soon!

Wow – let’s just say this post has been in OHT limbo for just about the entire year. I have been pessimistic to the point of not even knowing what to say anymore, because I didn’t think my words would do it any justice. Luckily, all that anyone needs to know is that my dinner at George’s in February, specifically the one at TBL3 (a spontaneous 12-to-14 course dinner prepared for one party seated at the best table in the house once a night – see details in link above), has withstood many, many wonderful meals that followed it to remain as my clear choice for favorite meal of 2014. Chef Trey Foshee and his talented team are just firing on all cylinders when it comes to TBL3, whether it be the bright vegetarian dishes with the amazing product from Chino Farms, to the local shellfish prep with fennel butter than has become one of Chef Trey’s standbys, to the fun and creative desserts, down to a single fish taco which was my gateway drug to this man and the restaurant – this is classical and technical perfection taken to the next level by local inspiration and sourcing. This is Michelin-star level execution in a warm atmosphere, all while the kitchen is essentially serving THREE different restaurants simultaneously. The serving was befitting of a classic fine-dining institution, yet had the calm and joy that resonated with the nearby sea. And don’t even get me started on what a value TBL3 is. Conclusion: my favorite meal of 2014, and even better than my meals at 2-Star Michelin restaurants. Funny story – so I dined solo here, where I had been chatting with the courteous FOH and briefly with Chef Trey. When I had gotten to the last savory dish, I felt EXTREMELY FULL all of a sudden. Those of you who know me know that I can eat a lot (I did eat 36 tacos at Tacolandia this year), and all I ate beforehand were 2 tacos + ap

Each time I have dined at Ocean Terrace I have enjoyed my meals. I recommend the Grilled Faroe Island Salmon--farro salad, artichokes, cherry tomato, radish, corn, lemon-dill yogurt. My thoughts: Service was excellent, from the manager who came out to the street to help us find and use the elevator to the rooftop to our server who was patient with us enjoying a leisurely dinner and being a little indecisive at times. He also offered his suggestions (he recommended the Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake). View was fantastic. No loud music. Nicely spaced heaters to ward off the chill.

Most beautiful place to eat in La Jolla. But on top of the views, the food is absolutely perfect. The owners and servers take such good care of presenting the dining room and ensuring the cleanliness, elegance, and comfort. The servers are completely knowledgeable about the food, drinks, and wine. The food is presented in a magnificent manner and hot. We had the salmon tartar and the fish tacos. I had the most delicious hibiscus margarita. Simply perfect. This restaurant could accommodate large groups or small. Really wish we lived closer.
We went during restaurant week for lunch and enjoyed the relaxing ambiance and delicious food. The appetizers were all very good and portions just right. We liked the mussles and fried shrimp the best. In terms of entrees, the hamburger and chicken sandwich were good. The corn risotto was very odd in terms of the flavor, sweet and not salty. The texture was also a bit off, rather mushy. That was the dish I think we regretted ordering. Overall, we had an enjoyable meal. The La Jolla waterfront view from 2nd floor was gorgeous and we look forward to returning again!

My new favorite place! We were blown away by the view. You could hear the sea lions barking on the cove. The service was phenomenal, and the food and drinks were delicious! We had crispy shrimp, fish tacos, and sticky toffee pudding cake—all were amazing! Parking is easy and reasonable at the public valet next door. Staff were all above-and-beyond courteous and attentive, even with the 4th of July crowd rush. Be sure to make reservations! Can’t wait to visit again!
Great place to eat lunch, we visited last week and loved it. We ordered the cucumber salad, crispy shrimp, tuna sandwich and fish tacos. My favorite dish was definitely the shrimp, accompanied by sweet yellow chili peppers that complement the dish spectacularly and a tartar sauce that highlights the flavor of the shrimp very well. The dishes are generous in size, so we ended up satisfied before finishing all the dishes. This restaurant definitely has the best view you can find in the La Jolla area. I recommend accompanying the dishes with an ice cold beer to further enrich the experience. The kindness of the waiters will make us come back again.
Atmosphere is such a great experience especially during dinner with the sunset. Food is very California in a positive way. Fresh flavors and plenty of great choices. Would highly recommend.

Our entire family rates the restaurant a 10 ! The food was delicious ! We all had the flat iron steak, rigatoni pasta, lava cake dessert and espresso martini! All were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The outdoor heaters were perfect for the cool night. Definitely the best dinner of our trip ! Can’t wait to come back again !
We were recommend to go to George’s at the Cove by two people in Texas when they heard we were visiting so we made our reservations a month in advance online. We did need to make a change, when we called the person helping us was very helpful and had more options available for us to choose from. The food was superb. Our favorite was the smashed cucumber salad followed by the seared rare local yellowtail. There is a lift on site for those that have mobility issues. If you can get a spot on the edge of the terrace we highly recommend it but the whole terrace is lovely. There are heaters.
