Absolutely amazing. The best staff. You'll be full but don't miss the White Chocolate Bread Pudding! Found on Zomato. Definitely a must 😘😘
If you like boiled crawfish and I do, the ones we had tonight at Dwights were top notch. The size was medium and some a little hard to peal but they (regular) were seasoned great. The five pounds with 2 small potatoes and one ear of corn was $34 - so not a cheap date.
As early as it is in the season for Crawfish they were really good size and tasty! They are seasoned perfectly and do it right by not dumping seasoning on the outside. I have to admit they were better than Louisiana crawfish time in taste and service which is usually my #1 choice.
Warning: the wait is always really long!
Amazing crawfish, but you have to call in to make sure they have it! Also their seafood gumbo is better than my grandmothers! They NEVER disappoint!
Sunday BBQ yum, yum, yum!. I have wanted to try Dwight's BBQ for the longest time and finally got the chance today...we weren't disappointed! My husband and I got the ribs which were excellent. Tender with a wonderful smoky flavor that was great even without sauce. My kids had the brisket which was okay but unfortunately cannot compare with my father's which has more flavor. The sides were good, the baked beans were delicious and the regular coleslaw was also good the rice dressing and potato salad were okay but nothing special. Overall the staff was cheerful and friendly but they lose half a point for trying to get my son to guilt me into buying him dessert...NOT COOL! The prices are a bit steep for BBQ but they give so much food my kids could easily have shared a plate. This won't be our last Sunday BBQ at Dwight's!
Plate Lunch or Crawfish. For lunch during the week Dwight's serves amazing plate lunches. They are a little bit more expensive than the close to home places but the food is absolutely delicious. On Sundays, the line almost wraps the building at 11:00 before they open. Everyone is there for the BBQ, another Lafayette tradition. #Sunday BBQ. During Crawfish season they open at night to serve crawfish.
The absolute best boiled crawfish. The service is awesome. Been going there my whole life (started when it was Breaux's Super Chek Mart). Never disappointed.
Dwight and Susie know what they're doing. And they're doing it right....all of it is good.
AWESOME!!! BBQ we love this place , food it's awesome .
This place has an amazing Sunday BBQ plate lunch. I highly recommend the fresh sausage, green beans, potato salad, and rice dressing. Finishing it off with bread pudding seals the deal.
As far as Lafayette boiled crawfish places are concerned, this is my favorite. Very well seasoned, but not overdone. And typically good-sized for whatever point in the season. If you want to stay in the city, not drive 20-30 minutes to one of the more remote places, this is the best boiled crawfish for my money.
Great Crawfish. Went for "last call Crawfish". Very fresh and very tasty! Atmosphere was excellent and the service wonderful. I can't wait for next season so we can go back for dinner!
The charbroiled oysters are the best I have ever eaten.
Fried Shrimp Platter...yum, yum, yum!!!
Great crawfish Great service Will go back for the catfish
Crawfish. Spicy, very big crawfish (for early march). They are on the pricey side, but 3 pounds plus boiled onions added on filled me up. The tables have big holes in the middle so you don't have to pile your shells up, and they give you mayo and horseradish to make your own sauce.
Best Crawfish in Town!. Love love love Dwight's! I cant wait till they are serving Boiled Crawfish!
Dwight's is on our "must go" list for when we visit our hometown. Sunday BBQ is the best!! We get a pork steak plate w/ a side of sausage. It should be top on this area's list because it is all about classic Cajun food done consistently right.
Cajun Primer. First time in LA, so I got a recommendation on the plane about Dwight's. I was told to dress down and don't mind the grime. Since Randol's could not get their act together to serve either drinks or food, I went to Dwight's and was shown the correct way to eat crawfish with a free sample. For a northerner, this was much appreciated. Because I did not have all night, I went the half&half (shrimp and crawtail etouffee) and it was remarkable. Best shrimp I ever had the etouffee was spiced just enough. Will be back. No room for dessert. Unless you consider the Atica Amber dessert.
SOOOO much food!!!. My mom and I decided to try Dwight's one day on a whim. We both got whole shrimp po'boys and decided to split an order of onion rings.
It took a while for our order to be ready, but after it arrived we understood the wait. I couldn't believe how much food we were served. We each got what seemed to be 16 inch sandwiches. We also got an entire dinner plate full of handcut onion rings.
We were so stuffed that we each had 1/2 of our sandwiches left.
I want to repeat my order on my next visit. She wants to try a Friday (seafood) plate lunch.
The Dwight Stuff!. Tender barbecue with a sweet sauce, sides (dirty rice, beans, potato salad) were bland. Wall displays several award plaques for their 'cue and boiled crawfish. Despite a rather dauntingly long line at lunch time, their assembly-line counter set-up (a la Picadilly) cut our wait to about 15 minutes. Call-in/pick-up line is the way to go, only around 5 people in line at any one time.
Excellent Crawfish.. The boiled Crawfish at Dwight's are hard to beat. Big, cooked perfectly, consistent and great flavor. And you gotta love the tables with the holes in the middle - just shove the shells and trash right in! I've had the Crawfish Fettucini and the Raw Oysters too, both very good.
The BBQ plate on Sunday is just okay in my opinion, I can cook better at home. Pretty bland and boring.
Never had the seafood, but some Sundays, after Mass, we pick up boxes of Barbeque for lunch. It doesn't matter what you get, it's going to be delicious. Just close your eyes and pick...
Would crawl through broken glass for the BBQ brisket. Brisket is to die for. All BBQ meats are always perfectly seasoned. Only pains are the long line but usually moves quicker than expected.
The Best Boiled Crawfish in town. What else can I say? If you like boiled crawfish, this is the place.
Cajun Certified. Anyone who doubts Dwights crawfish just doesn't know good seafood or they are stuck on stupid when it comes to crawfish. The extra seasoning gets on your fingers and when you pop that crawfish in your mouth it is sweet bliss. They have standards if they aren't big enough or plentiful enough they don't open. This has made Dwights have the following that they have
Great home cooked burgers!!!! Plate lunches are of the norm but are hit or miss at times.
Shrimp are Excellent but Skip the Crawfish.... My wife and I have been here several times, and one of my favorite things about the place is the pungent smell of seafood cooking when you enter the place!
So far we have had the chance to sample several of the big items on the menu including the Boiled Crawfish and Boiled Shrimp...also the Fried Shrimp and the Fried Catfish...
IMHO, the crawfish are nothing to write home about :( They are vastly underseasoned even if you order them extra spicy (which just means that they put more spice on the outside of the shells which you don't eat anyway.) If they would add some more seasoning to the boil water I imagine that I would like them better. I guess they figure that lots of people in this area use sauce on their CF so why bother, but I grew up eating them straight so to me they are bland. This is a shame because they have a great $10 special on right now that I would love to hook up.
On the other hand, I have found that the shrimp is excellent... I absolutly love the Fried Shrimp platter which also comes with a big stuffed shrimp full of crab meat (very tasty) and a loaded up baked potato plus a small dinner salad for about $14 ( a bargan in my opinion)
I found the catfish to be pretty good, but not good enough to get me away from my shrimp !
The only thing that I will say is to come early, as the place closes at 9pm which I feel is a mite early...and we have been disapointed at least once when we forgot.
Happy Eating, RMG
Shrimp. Rice was still uncooked-crunchy. The boiled shrimp makes up for it though!!!
...and Dwight’s bar-b-que on Sunday after church. The history of why none of the men of our family would ever BBQ is still a mystery. Dad I know has never stood at a grill with tongs in hand and apron around his waist; it’s just not in his DNA. Our grandfather had a coveted bar-b-que sauce recipe, that my sister and I still attempt to master, but I don’t remember him using the drum sized pit in his backyard very much. So it has been left to the girls to learn how to grill and while I must say my BBQ is tasty it doesn’t beat the Sunday plate lunches from Dwight’s Restaurant.
Some of the best food in Lafayette, home cooked plate lunches and be sure to stop in during crawfish season.
This is a local restaurant that I have been going to for as long as I can remember. First, their Sunday BBQ is second to none in the area. Their weekday plate lunches are authentic, with local cooks and third they are my go to for crawfish during crawfish season. They have my favorite wild, fried catfish in the area. All around great place to eat. Dwight, the owner is always around taking care of customers and watching the food go out to his satisfaction. Outstanding staff, Mona you are the best!
One of the best places to get BBQ in Lafayette. We go here all the time. We have eaten the ribs, the sausage, and the chicken all were some of the best we have had in Lafayette. You get up to 4 sides in a dinner. All of the sides were good also. The best sides are bake beans, rice dressing, and green beans. I also stop in during the week for plate lunches that are also good
Plenty of food to choose from. Everything on the plate was tasty and generously served.
The po'boy comes with chips and was at a bargained price of $6.
It was also full of locals on a weekday at lunch which is a positive sign.
Excellent restaurant overall. The proprietor, Dwight, is constantly on hand to tend to patrons' needs and ensure that the food is prepared to his satisfaction. Fantastic staff—Mona, you truly are the greatest!
If you have not been here, it is a must.
Nothing fancy, just straight up good cooking. The étouffée was spot on, thick creamy buttery with a subtle bite.
Separate visit, the fried catfish was perfection.
Grab a bread pudding. In the top 5 of the best I’ve had.
I usually eat here only during crawfish season, because their crawfish is the best in town!!! Today I was hungry for bbq and wasn’t sure where to get some from. Got on google and noticed they served bbq. OMG!!! I ordered a pork steak plate. The meat was falling off the bone. The taste was just right. Even the potato salad was perfect! I now have a go to spot for bbq here at this place. Do yourselves a favor and try them!!!!
It's a pretty good place to get plate lunches. They have plenty of plate lunch options. Food is great but definitely not power lunch. You'll want to sit and digest your food. Nonetheless I never hesitate going back here for lunch. Their boiled crawfish is pretty good too when it's in season.
I love plate lunches. I've eaten at every plate lunch place I know of and Dwight's has remained one of my favorites for years. There's 8-12 main courses to choose from daily, same with sides and a variety of bread puddings and cheesecakes to choose from if you're in the mood for dessert.
The BBQ pork steak is so tender you can cut it with a plastic spoon. Try dat 🤤

Best Soul food in Louisiana. The pork steak is so juicy. And it comes with a lot of food!! What a great experience !
Oysters were excellent! Crawfish were great, just the right size and perfectly seasoned! Our server, Kaelyn was fantastic.
They always have amazing food. And one of the best places for crawfish in the season.
Pork steak is absolutely the best in town. Bbque chicken breast 😋 delicious. Boudin is incredible.
Food is always great here. Crawfish was on point! We will be back many times!
One of Lafayette's staple. The place is always packed for lunch! Delicious plate lunches! Always a variety of selection daily.

I've lived in this area all my life and never visited Dwight's! We started going here almost every Monday night during crawfish season! I love the boiled shrimp, and my son loves the crawfish. The beer is cold, the drinks are great. The servers are very experienced and so friendly.
On Sundays, the BBQ sides are good, you get 4 sides of your choice. I wish the meat was actually bbq'd the brisket is baked, disappointment when you're paying $16 and it's not actual BBQ. Same thing with the ribs, not bbqd.
Yummy crawfish and cold beer. Perfect Cajun cuisine served with Southern hospitality, charm, and sprinklings of "honey", "suga" and "darlin". If you're craving the flavors of the bayou and want to feel at home, this is your spot.
