Sushi here is always affordable and pretty good...I would say one of the better sushi spots in town. Service is usually pretty good and wait time isn't long.

Lafayette location fair, broussard location excellent. The tam special in broussard is the best roll in lafayette parish.
Samurai is my absolute favorite sushi place in Lafayette. The service isn't always great but the food is definitely worth it anyway.

My husband and I went eat there this past Thursday, August 29, and we were very pleased with our service. We love the sushi there and pretty much go there at least once every two weeks. We had one of the best waitresses ever. Normally the girls are rude and not very social. This time we had someone different. She was a young girl with beautiful red hair. She was very sweet and took very good care of us even though we went at a busy time. If you go there be on the lookout for her and request her to be y'all's waitress. You won't regret it!
Great sushi. The sushi is awesome. I've never ordered something I didn't enjoy. However, last trip was pretty disappointing. We were seated and no waitress came to our table for over 30 minutes. I got up and asked if we were going to be served and finally a waitress came to take our order. She was very sorry but the incident still annoyed me. The waitress seated and served everyone around us but never came to our table. The food is great though, and i have been coming here for years. Hopefully the bad service was a one time thing

The Best. Samurai is by far the best Sushi place in Acadiana! I try new ones as they open and no one compares to Samurai!!
My wife and I went Saturday 1/14 for a party. Neither of us had ever been to a sushi bar or tried sushi. Our waitress was patient, informative and just awesome. We ordered about a dozen different sushi rolls to get a full range of different taste. I kept forgetting what was what and our waitress always came to the rescue. We ate our fill and took plenty home for only $80! I was very surprised how cheap it was. We were both so impressed with Samurai's service and delicious food, we went back last night 1/17. We got our favorites: cucumber roll, grilled bass roll and the Acadiana roll. I can't take raw fish or row and the latter two have neither. The egg rolls as an appetizer are absolutely the best egg rolls I've ever eaten. The place is smallish bit not packed. Great service and just yummy sushi.
Pretty Good. I love the atmosphere of the place. I get the same waitress almost every time I go. She's very sweet, knows what she's talking about and gives my party a lot of attention. The sushi is comparable to all the other mid-level sushi places in town as are the prices. I love the place for the service and the atmosphere.
It is the best sushi restaurant in Lafayette since 04! Tam is great, the service is even better. The servers are very helpful and friendly. The place can get quite busy on random days but th e girls are always prepare. Proud regular of samurai and plan to be for years to come!!
I love this place!! The food is great and so are the girls who work there. They have all been working there for years and know how to treat their regulars. Their good service isn't limited to oldtimers though. I have witnessed them help out the customers who aren't as sushi friendly by suggesting rolls and helping with the menus. With the amount of people they have coming into the tiny restaurant, they manage to stay friendly while working hard to serve excellent sushi ( like the rainbow roll!) thumbs up samurai!
Favorite sushi bar in Lafayette. Tam is the man...his sushi is outstanding every time I go...and u can't beat the prices there either...best sushi value in town and Samurai is always my first option when going out for sushi
BEST sushi in Lafayette..... Been to many places in & around Lafayette, hands down this place offers the best product & the best prices. Don't waste your money on the "name game", if you want good sushi, good quality, & a good price, look no further. The atmosphere will not wow you but I'd rather have good food than hip atmosphere anyday. Rainbow roll is top of the world. Their special rolls are always unique, tasty, & very creative.
I love the sushi here! The miso soup is very good here too! It's a very small place, sO I usually get my sushi to go so I am not cramped while trying to eat.
Acadiana roll is delish. My fiancee and I have gone to many sushi restaurants in lafayette. we enjoyed our experience at Samurai...but the service could be a little better. We ordered 5 different rolls and have to say that if you eat fried food, the acadiana roll is exceptionally wonderful!! However, the crunchy snowcrab roll and snow crab roll are sub par. They definitely need more servers there for a thursday night! Our server was very sweet but she was basically running the whole restaurant :(... food is fresh though

Good Sushi. I love the rolls here. The rainbow roll with no rice is amazing if you like it raw. The value is great and much fresher then many in Lafayette. I also like there aspargus salad yum.
I eat at this sushi place and only one other. I am always pissed when I am forced to go to another place due to group outings. I don't really like there non sushi items but thats just me.
I have noticed the service and over all cleanilness has go down a little in the last year but I still go back becasue its much better the most places in Lafayette.
Good sushi at a fair price. We've visited the Broussard location of Samurai Sushi a couple of times and have enjoyed it. My husband enjoys sushi dinner A and each time he has said how fresh the fish tastes. While I am not a very adventurous sushi eater I typically start with the mushroom soup which is delicious and then get the tempura shrimp roll and the spider roll. The rolls are good and very tasty. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice but is nothing fancy. The staff however are very nice and friendly. The sushi chefs behind the counter greet you when you walk in and ask about your meal as you leave. I have a feeling we will be eating here more and more often.
Best sushi I've had in four states. Tam, the owner, is always present and friendly. His manner shows how seriously he takes his food. The price is great and the fish is ridiculously fresh. Amazing selection of rolls and other Japanese fare. Quality and taste is far beyond the pricier options in town. This is the only place I go for sushi.

Excellence is Tasty. For a good idea of what one will get at Samurai, one must begin with its owner. Nearly a decade back, Tam was one of the best sushi chefs in the tri-state area. How that unnamed Baton Rouge restaurant managed to lose him is anyone's guess, but another eatery brought him to Lafayette. Here, he gained a loyal following with his rather exquisite sushi, his quick humor and wit, and his friendly and engaging manner.
Now, having run his own restaurant for some five years, Tam still greets all of his frequent guests with a handshake and a smile, and makes one feel right at home. At home, that is, if one's kitchen was equipped with the makings and makers of quality sushi. This is combined with a quiet and relaxed environment that, while not quite embodying all of the traditional decor and music, also is not the crowded and overpriced tourist trap that other downtown restaurants seem to be.
As far as describing the food, I could itemize, but one really need only read the title of this review to get the gist, and the rest would be a poor effort next to the real thing. Suffice to say that be it sushi, sashimi, nagiri, or even cooked dishes like yakatori, I have never failed to be delighted, and hope to stop by again soon.

Good teriyaki, but okay sushi. I have heard good things about their sushi. Though it's not the worst I have ever had I don't really care for it too much. There teriyaki lunches are really good, though a little pricy. Overall it is a good and quick lunch.
Best Sushi in Lafayette. If you are looking for a breath taking atmosphere then this is not your place, but if you are looking for the best sushi in Lafayette look no further. Every roll I have tried is amazing, from the raw to the cooked! They also have the best prices, hands down. The meals aren't the greatest, but if you are looking for sushi it is definitely the place to go!
Bang for your buck. This is probably Lafayette's best sushi place as far as price and quality go. Less expensive than the rest of the hot spot sushi restaurants and the quality of food is great. I've never had a bad roll here.

I agree with the previous reviewer. It is not outstanding in any one area, except sushi. I have eaten at all of lafayette's sushi bars. Samuris is the best. It's a quiet place to eat also. If you go in more than two or three times Tam will remember you. He knows my favorite is the escolar. They will make you what you want without making you feel like you insulted them. Love it.
While not as elegant as Bonsai or party-friendly as Tsunami, Samurai offers delicious sushi at an affordable price. While the service has never been horrible it also never seems to be great but instead rests upon bearable. The best way to sidestep that problem seems to be to sit at the sushi bar itself and allow the delicious Japanese cuisine (that won't melt your plastic) to make up for it.
Excellent. From the moment you walk in you will be greeted with smiling and friendly employees. The atmosphere is wonderfully peaceful and the staff is more than helpful in recommending a dish. As someone new to the sushi bar experience my waitress recommended a dish for me that I just love. Its called the Samurai Roll. I get mine without avocado since I am not a fan of it and I cant get enough of the stuff. It has become my treat to myself. Of course I love to start with mushroom soup as an appetizer. This place is great.

Samurai has always been our go to sushi spot because of their menu selection & pricing. it is smaller than their Youngsville location, but size doesn’t always matter. The manager Hannah always makes sure that everyone is pleased and taken care of. The wait staff is always smiling and helpful. The Sushi Chefs (itamaes) are outstanding (Greyson is our fav)

My boyfriend and I have been coming here for over 8 years! The food is always incredible. The servers are cheerful and helpful. The sushi chef are amazing. Even if it's months in between the time we visit they always remember us and greet us with smiles. The prices of the rolls are wonderful you can have a full course meal for two for around 40 to 50 dollars.
The sushi chef is excellent and recommended the perfect sushi and remembers me every time I come in and my order.

This was my first time eating at this restaurant. There was a short wait before we got seated but not too long. The place is small so seating is close together. The menu has a large selection including specials and popular eats. Our waitress was knowledgeable and quick. Our order came in reasonable time. The food was good as far as sushi goes. I would go eat there again.
I was overcharged for a meal I did not receive and when they were told they immediately found out the problem, voided my ticket, and offered their number in case I was still charged for the extra food. The food I did have was delicious and the atmosphere of this place was nice. The waitress had a little attitude at first but I went in pretty late. I work in food as well,so I know how it is. However as soon as what I assume was management came out everything was settled. Even with all of the confusion and hassle - I was NOT dissatisfied and I WILL be ordering from them again.

Been going here forever. It has a small-town charm. Not necessarily high class or Michelin quality, but the great service and good flavors keep us coming back.
