We arrived at the Royal Lahaina Resort late so decided to grab some food at its restaurant for dinner. The ambiance was good as there was live music and we were close to a pool. As it was too dark to see the ocean, but during the day, you could see it. I ordered the Royal Seafood Cioppino and it was pretty tasty. Had half of a lobster tail, several pieces of shrimp and clams. The flavor was on the mild side, but was still pleasant. I would certainly order it again. The wifey got the Hawaii style steamed fish, but it was a tad below average. Some veggies were placed below the fish and was a nice touch, but the fish felt like it was a frozen piece from Costco that was just steamed. Perhaps a bit more flavor would have improved the dish greatly. I ordered a cocktail called Kai Time which was lemongrass ginger shochu, vodka and lime juice based. Didn’t quite taste the lemongrass and ginger, but the lime was prominent. Wife got the Calamansi Topless Mai Tai. The calamansi was not very noticeable, but I think it was a perfect drink to sip in Hawaii. Not sure I would order the Kai Time again, but that Mai Tai was certainly yummy~ Since this was a short stay for us, we also got takeout for a late lunch the next day. I saw that the happy hour prices (from 2 to 5pm) where many items were 20% off and that draft beers were $7 instead of $9. I enjoyed a Big Swell IPA at the bar and then took the food back to the room. We weren’t very hungry so we did not consume our food until an hour later. I found a table that was next to the beach and we decided to eat there. This turned out to be one of the best decisions I made as the sunset view was stunning. Although our coconut shrimp was cold and our salad was lukewarm at that time, they still tasted great! The coconut flavor stood out and I can’t imagine how much better it would have tasted when it was still hot. The Maui Breeze salad had tropical fruits: papaya, mango and pineapples (all my faves). The lilikoi (passion fruit) dressing did not taste much of passion fruit, but it paired well with the salad and not overwhelmingly sweet. The food was not cheap, but this was Maui and at a hotel restaurant. I would say most items were pretty good and I would come back.

This review covers a few visits during our latest stay here in February 2023. Since this is usually our favorite spot to relax while we stay in one of the hotel bungalows, it is difficult having to post a less than stellar review. My wife and I have been coming to the Royal Lahaina Resort since the 1990s and have formed friendships with other guests as well as with staff. We are staying here as I write this review. Let's start with breakfast; Great views of the ocean from both inside and the outside seating. Watching whales breaching during breakfast makes for special moments. I ordered the Ahi Benedict and a side of smoked salmon. The Benedict was really quite good and I brought the side of smoked salmon into the mix making it spectacular. However, the potatoes were cold and a bit soft. Other than that the presentation was really nice and we enjoyed our breakfast. We had a great lunch on the day we arrived. This was one of the best meals here by far. My daughter ordered the ribs which were perfect. My wife enjoyed a Kula Greens Salad and I had the fish tacos. Really yummy. We really enjoyed lunch. Presentation and service are great. Then tonight we went out for dinner at another restaurant and came back here for dessert. This is when we really noticed how much the atmosphere had changed from the past and not for the better. We are here to get away from " it all" but now there's a number of TVs running various sporting events. This takes away from the atmosphere. When the entertainment is inside it's a much better experience than when outside, where it takes away from both the guest and the musician's experience. Dinner on our sixth night was light. Pumpkin curry soup for my wife, a beet salad for me and a fabulous pork chop for my daughter. All were excellent. The bar and the folks who work it are really good. We are always taken care of sitting at the bar. Photos are from lunch and breakfast and dinner.

We stayed at Royal Lahaina resort and ate in their in house restaurant a few times. We have had breakfast, lunch and dinner. Most of the food were good, some were pretty ordinary. The poke bowl was nice and breakfast was pretty good. I think the prices for the food for dinner are a bit steep in congruence to what they are. Otherwise, the staff were nice and friendly. At times, they appear short and you don't see them as often as you would in other restauraunts. The view and open atmosphere is nice, it overlooks the pool and the ocean.

We ate here several times during our stay at the Royal Lahaina. The food, beverages, and service were consistently excellent. Our favorites turned out to be the delicious mahi tacos and the flatbreads. Burgers and dinners were also good. Servers were personable and professional. Drinks were great! Sunsets were spectacular, too! Recommend!

Wonderful staff & quick service. The food was flavorful and desert was super rich! Since it's open air, the birds like to wait for patrons to stand up or look away but they are honestly fun to watch, especially the cardinals.

The service here was excellent. The food was mostly very good, but there were little things here and there, like fish that was a little dry, or a scallop that tasted like char, or the fact I still felt a little hungry when we left. I got a virgin mai thai, the special of the day (surf and turf steak with scallops), and the Maui mud pie for dessert. If you can get something with scallops here, do so, as that was the best part of my meal.

Their seafood linguine is amazing!!! Pesto and the cream sauce were done perfectly. I enjoyed their mai tai too. My kids liked their chicken bbq flat bread pizza. The only thing that they need to do is to change some of their cushion seats because most of them were not in good condition. Our waitress was very accommodating, friendly and checked in with us often. Overall we had a great dinner, loved the sea side dining and live music and we even came back twice.

This was by far the best food experience we had while we were here in Maui for our anniversary. The food was great, the service was good, and the sunsetting ceremony was the cherry on top. I would highly recommend this place. Get a reservation as this place can get extremely busy.

Original post; Thanksgiving weekend 2022 Ate several meals at this hotel establishment...Restaurant and Bar. Quality food, drinks and service... In particular, bartender, Mike, took good care of us and referred to me by name without viewing my c-card for reference. Great view of the ocean and other islands in the distance...daytime, and great view of the sunset. Romantic tiki torch lit grounds in the evening. Addendum: (We hope you and yours are safe and well in spite of the devastation as a result of the current west Maui fire)

2021- March Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant is in the 1st floor of the Royal Lahaina Resort building. We only ate there for breakfast, and it was delicious. We had to wait for about 10 minutes.. but with the ocean view outside, you wouldn't care much about the time. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Have a great stay!

Absolutely incredible! Friendly staff, laid back environment, amazing food and portions, Oceanside view with beautiful sunset, and greatly priced. Ford, our waiter was salt of the earth. Also we were greeted by a Luau dancer and there was a local live musician who played gently in the background. 5/5 for sure!

Good food. Immaculate location and views. One of the nights we had incredible service, one of the nights we were forgotten about and the server/hosts were rude. Overall kinda drug it down in our minds but overall a beautiful spot.

5 star— Service was great. Staff was very friendly. Ocean views were amazing. Turkey sandwich with sweet potato fries for lunch was great. The best thing I ate there were the fish tacos that I ordered with blackened seasoning…delicious. The flatbread and Caesar salad were also very good. 3 star— No one mentioned that reservations were required for dinner, even for hotel guests. That was frustrating when we planned on eating there and had no where else to go. I ate the Maui Sunrise for breakfast multiple times and the food never came out hot, besides the freshly cooked eggs. The sausage and potatoes were just warm and become cool quickly while sitting outside. Wings for lunch were okay…again not hot, just warm.

Had a reservation for 6. Initially we were going to get seated inside, but the staff was happy to accommodate our request to sit outside. Macadamia/cilantro crusted fish, chowder, salads, and fish tacos were all great. Everyone enjoyed their meals, and the service was very fast.

Great mother's day brunch at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant. We were four people; two couples. Each mom received a single yellow rose. Got a great table outdoors with full views of the pool and ocean. Very fast service. I ordered a mimosa, coffee, Hawaiian French toast with a scrambled egg on the side. It was delicious. Highly recommend the French toast.

Great atmosphere and great service. Tables are spaced out well and servers are wearing masks. We got appetizers and drinks, the mai tai was delicious and the spicy ahi poke was devine! Blackened fish tacos were the best we've had so far on the island. We will definitely be back (we are also staying at this resort so it makes it easy!) They have a breakfast and lunch menu too we are wanting to try! No reservation was needed, we were able to walk up and get seated with no wait time. Food came quickly too!
