Without a doubt, the best tasting coffee around!! The iced vanilla lattes are my go-to, even during winter. It's located in the heart of town and is so charming and inviting! It's cozy, friendly and the food + music events are a hit in the summer. I even had my son's 1st birthday party in the alley and everyone raved about it. John has himself some loyal regulars and we're so glad to have this gem in our hometown!!
Absolutely the best coffee around, with the greatest atmosphere, and fantastic music. Love this place so much!!!
A truly special little place on the north shore. Lake Bluff is worth the trip.
If your not looking for the place you might miss it but they have excellent coffee. Really enjoy going there, great atmosphere. The owner is a cool dude too.

Great coffee and a great owner/staff! Highly recommend stopping by!
The atmosphere and service is wonderful! It reminds me of cafes in Europe. Hazelnut latte is perfect! Must experience the honey mead it's amazing!! I'm definitely coming back for more of the honey mead!
Thanks for setting up a beautiful venue for our J109 sailing fleet meeting and end-of-season celebration on Saturday night!

Simply the best! Great dirty hippy chai and a lovely spot on a summer/fall evening for a glass of wine.
Ask John to make you the Bomber-esque! It's one of the best concoctions I ever tasted next to Kopi Luwak or Civet Coffee. If you are a coffee connoisseur, you know what I mean. This hidden coffee sanctuary is Lake Bluff's hidden little secret.
Great coffee, lattes and baked goods. Now wine and beer! All in a killer alfresco setting in beautiful Lake Bluff.
Damn fine coffee and other things. Great place to unwind.
This energetic, friendly entrepreneur couple has opened a wonderful -- and much-needed -- little gem of a coffee shop in beautiful downtown Lake Bluff. Perfectly-roasted Hansa coffee beans done justice by quality brewing, and they even use small-farm milk. The menu shows a true focus on and respect for high-quality coffee. There is a lovely outdoor seating area in the historic Scranton Alley. Check it out and support a wonderful indie business!
Cute local espresso bar; excellent latte' done right! Yummy biscotti. Looking forward to enjoying the outdoor seating when the weather warms up!
Thank you so much to John and Prairie Espresso Co. for hosting my 30th birthday. The night was magical and all of our guests enjoyed the ambience. Exceptional service, venue and of course cappuccinos!
Great coffee. A little pricey, but the ambiance is definitely worth it. It has an amazing outdoor seating area tucked away in a little alley. Would recommend.
Good stuff man. Just ballin’, coffee has actual flavor and their variety is surprising
My review only reflects the coffee shop experience.
Tasty oat chai! Beautiful outdoor seating. Wi-Fi was a challenge, but worth it for the views.
I loved the place overall. I went there on a Thursday evening and the owner was about to close. But nevertheless he gave me the coffee and then left. Coffee tasted good and different, ambiance was quiet and the owner seemed to be friendly. I am definitely going back.
Love this place. People are cool and drinks are great. Best place for a drink in the north shore 👍🤌
Best coffee cake ever. The man who served me was super funny and dressed like he lived in Europe.
If you want a really authentic cup of Espresso, then John will not disappoint.
His mission is to make sure you enjoy every sip
I can only share the coffee experiences; never had the wine or beer.
But my goodness, what an amazing cappuccino! It helps they use Oberweis milk.
They clearly know their stuff, and make a great product.
Really cool spot with an awesome alley/ patio. When I was there, they had locals playing guitar and singing and it was a great atmosphere.
Super cool tucked away spot in the alley in Lake Bluff. Wish there was a menu posted onsite, there were a lot of people making the line go slow because they had to ask about every single option. Could've been avoided with a little chalkboard that has the small menu listed since I realize the menu changes frequently. Other than that it was a great spot, the wine was fantastic, and the music/vibes were tight!
Matcha and banana bread were great, people were wonderful. Shout-out to the guy who paid for our order and found one of our lost debit cards
I went a few months ago to try the coffee and I was surprised to enter a really small room with just 1 barista behind a counter and all seating was outside. It was very different, but I liked it. The coffee was strong but not bitter like starbucks espresso is often. Cute shop, would be wonderful to come here not mid-winter and enjoy the outside seating. Pricing was a little high but the coffee is superior to SB I rather pay more for quality. Hope to come back to try more things on the menu!
A beautiful little espresso bar in a shaded nook in a brick lined alley. Perfect after a hard bike race =)
