A very cozy place, good music and quick service... the food is very good, the pancakes are a hit, but... what is happening in restaurants with food handling? Why does the kitchen lady handle food with rings and bracelets? Come on, you have to know the basic knowledge to work well in a kitchen, that's why I don't give it 5 stars.
We love eating local and decided to stop for lunch while shopping in Lakeland. We had the ham steak, black eyed peas and collards. It was like lunch at my grandma's when I was growing up! The collards were the best I've had in years. The portions are also very large. Our server was great and the food came out quickly. We will definitely be returning.
We stopped in to purchase some pies for the holidays, which were excellent. We also had a little bit of dessert while we were there. The pumpkin cake was fantastic. We had driven by many times but it was the first time we stopped in. We will have to stop and try lunch.
Love their breakfast menu and had to buy a banana bread loaf. They sell a ton if great looking pies also.
This is a cozy diner located on a busy street.
There is off street parking, parking lot clean and in very good condition. The diner greats you with a display of pies. Try some we had a variety of desserts all were delicious. Seating was ample, service was attentive. Our burger and fries are perfect diner fare. We also had onion rings which were the size of very large doughnuts. Prices are reasonable So stop in and enjoy!!
A friend and I dined here today 10/19/2021 for lunch. I was very impressed with the meal I ordered. I ordered the Tuesday Special Country Fried Chicken smothered in White Pepper Gravy, served with three sides and fresh baked bread. I chose Mashed Potatoes with White Pepper Gravy, Green Beans, Onion Rings and a Corn Bread Muffin. The food was absolutely outstanding, one of a kind. The meal had a Gourmet style, quality and taste. The Onion Rings were possibly the best I have ever had, the batter had a Waffle Like Flavor. The Sweet Iced Tea was perfect and the Chocolate Cream Pie with Whipped Cream for dessert was very delicious. Lee our waitress was very welcoming, friendly and informative. Lee informed us of all the flavors of Pie offered, without reading the choices, she had them memorized. She asked us how our food was, within one minute of serving us and constantly kept our Sweet Iced Tea's replenished. A very nice Vintage, one of a kind restaurant. Highly Recommend! We will return.

What an incredible dining experience! We had excellent service and fantastic food. We read about this restaurant in ONLY IN YOUR STATE in an email I got. We both wanted to come here and try it months ago, but it’s over an hour drive from Palm Harbor. But today it was on the way home after a long day at the theme parks in Orlando.
Jerry was incredible. He took our orders, and our food came out quickly. We started with a great fresh salad each: hard boiled egg slice, cucumbers, bacon bits, lettuce, tomatoes, and cheese. Husband raved about ranch dressing. He asked if he could buy it, but they don’t sell it. I had the honey mustard - it was good too.
Next came our entrees- country fried steaks with white gravy. Breading on country fried steak was delicious! It was light and didn’t upset my stomach (sensitive to fried foods). This was the Wednesday special, so we got 3 sides instead of two for the same price as Senior Special. In addition to a salad, Husband got apple sauce & mashed potatoes. I got the potatoes, too, and fresh fruit. I can’t stomach cantaloupe which came with the fresh fruit. Instead of a smaller portion, Jerry got me more grapes with the pineapple, blueberries and strawberries. We both got a corn muffin. Everything was so very good.
For dessert Husband got the coconut cream pie to go. He & I were so full! He’ll enjoy it later. It looks delicious. He might even give me a bite! We have to come back again every time we’re in the area, or on the way home from Orlando.
Very good home-cooked meal at a reasonable price. Cracker barrel eat your heart out!!!!!!

Great comfort food, relaxing atmosphere & friendly staff. & great service. Reasonable prices. I had a hot turkey sandwich & husband had the turkey dinner. We will go back.
Nice mom and pop dinner. Greeted as soon as we walked in, food was good as well. We had a party of 7 and they were able to accommodate us quite nicely and it was affordable.
I had open face roast beef with mashed potatoes and Lima beans. My husband had fried chicken collard greens, fried okra and cornbread. All was equally delicious.
Amazing food! This was my first time here, and I was very delighted with portion sizes and prices. I definitely plan on coming back soon! Customer service was on point, our waitress was super nice and checked in with us regularly. Overall 10/10 experience.
This place has been around forever and I have eaten there on occasion my whole life.
The food is good and the prices don't have you leaving feeling like you've been robbed.
The 4 stars is just because there are some minor things I think could be done better. For example: I ordered a Reuben sandwich and the bottom piece of bread was rather soggy and they didn't cut the sandwich in half so I had to do that at home (it was take out). Just do a better job of draining the kraut and making sure the oil is drained from the meat. But despite the minor annoyance, my sandwich was still absolutely delicious.
Also, I just wanted to add that my husband got a club sandwich and he said it was delicious. Both of us were definitely full after our meal! :)
My daughter and I went here for the first time, it was a Friday morning they were not very busy. We got to sit anywhere we wanted. We each had an egg sandwich and they were delicious. The waitress was real nice and frequently checked on us to see that we were good. The biscuits and grave were delicious too. I had such I took some home. The overall visit was real nice. We will try something new next time.
Had dinner here tonight ..excellent food, the same exact taste as growing up in Lakeland and going with my Dad, or the entire family! Service, always great!!! 7/21/2023 went today for lunch. But still grabbed my hubby his liver and onions. Excellent meal and service as always. For home cooking you won't find a better restaurant!
