Just found this going to the Christmas parade in Lansing! Love the atmosphere, a feeling of "Welcome" ! The table service is unique and I loved it. They surprised us with home made bread and oils, Oh My Gosh! The BEST! So good that I had very little room left for my salad and entree'. The hot chocolate from a freezing cold outside, as well as my chamomile tea was spot on!
Chicken entree' was outstanding, as well as the special I had which was home made noodles and a fabulous beef cut! Yummy! Just a tad pricey, so a spot for special things for sure, on a budget, save up.
I throughly enjoyed my weekday brunch experience at Batter Up Bistro. First, the atmosphere was so pleasant. I felt like I was teleported somewhere on vacation - just unwinding to the lovely music and inviting decor.
Next, the service staff was lovely, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. There were just the right amount of options available for a standard cup of coffee. It came to the table with a delicious spiced cookie on the side.
My friend ordered the Eggs Benedict and I ordered the Classic (mushroom) Omelette. We both agreed that the breakfast potatoes and the house bread were very good but argued over who had the better meal! It was a 5-star tie. The dill hollandaise sauce on the benefit was bright and rich, a perfect balance. The omelette was cooked perfectly and the onions and mushrooms were full of flavor.
We were too full to entertain dessert but I’ll certainly be back again soon.
I tried this place on Saturday for brunch. I arrived around 10:45, and they were super busy. They were not super busy after 12:30pm when we left. Their food was surprisingly good. We tried their French toast, and it’s really delicious!! Price was not too bad, our French toast was $16, I think it’s very reasonable. Our waiter is super nice and friendly!
They don’t have a parking lot, and we parked in Starbucks parking lot across street, plenty of parking spaces over there.
Really enjoyed dinner here. The food was amazing and the ambiance was nice. The French onion soup was very well seasoned, the mustard grain salad dressing was great, and the salmon and wild rice was perfectly cooked and had great flavor. They were able to easily accommodate my gluten allergy and point me in the direction of wonderful gluten-free options. Now I'm just looking forward to coming back for brunch!!
A rare example of quality and experience in a city where that is rarely catered to.
Get here early, they do run out of some items; but that should be a solid indicator of fresh-made meals and hand crafted dishes - an unlimited supply means something is wrong.
The atmosphere of the joint with it's tin ceiling and nouveau-chique / modern cottage-core decoration feels like home had a cocktail and was feeling zesty; of which they offer - do try the espresso martini.
Pictured are three fantastic items I couldn't recommend more, the burger with it's rich blend of varied meats with a cross-section proving cooked perfection, to a delightful mango Chantilly cake that will remind you of grandma; to the Bedhead BLT made with fresh greens and a side of Bistro Potatoes. All dishes were top-notch, generously portioned, and more than earned my repeat patronage.
Thanks for being here guys, glad to have ya.
Breakfast was great. Bread was very good. Wasn't crazy about the thick slice bacon. Would definitely recommend, we will be back soon.
First time here, to my chagrin! Stopped in for an afternoon coffee and to sample the desserts. We tried the Vanilla Bean Cheesecake and the Tiramisu. Both were lightly sweet. The cheesecake was NY style, savory-sweet, with a double layer of vanilla cake on the top. Delicious! The tiramisu had the traditional coca powder on top, and the coffee flavor was not overpowering. The dark roast coffee had a great tang, without being bitter. Additionally, we purchased a loaf of artisan bread to take home. The decor is brick and classic old-school chic. Highly recommend!
Great place and great food. First time here. Not very large but very nice. They were short staffed so things were slow but I'm ok with that, not the staff's fault. I had hollandaise sauce 40 years ago and thought it was disgusting. Not anymore! Wow! They did have a few things on the menu that were out, even though they had just opened. Communication must be hard because the waitress didn't know this. Regardless, I would recommend this place to anyone! Well done.
I HAVE to come here every time I come to Lansing. The soups, sandwiches and meals are so great. Good bar with interesting wine choices. The spelt bread is the bomb. Owner checked in on us, and our server was very pleasant and helpful.
Batter Up Bistro is a hidden gem of a restaurant that serves up some of the most delicious food in town. From their signature brunch to their mouth-watering chicken salad and wonderful pasties, everything on the menu is prepared with the utmost care and attention to detail. The cozy ambiance and friendly staff only add to the experience. I highly recommend giving Batter Up Bistro a try!
Met a friend for a late lunch here one day. Loved the atmosphere and vibe. There were one or 2 other tables in at the time and we waited a while between server visits. Didn't get silverware with the meal, which she realized when she set the plates down and came back with 1 fork and 1 napkin for each of us. I asked for a knife immediately and she came back with 1 butter knife a few minutes later... so we shared it.
We both got a chicken salad and a glass of Malbec. Both were delish, but not sure if the $35 bill for each of us was what I was expecting.
Will consider going back if someone else picks the place. But again... super cute and potential to be great with the right service!

All around excellent. Cari created a highly enjoyable experience. Service was prompt and food was exceptional. I had the sweet potato gnocchi, while my dad had the beef tenderloin. Highly recommended on all accounts.
I have been waiting for Batter Up Bistro to open after Covid. They are open now and I'm so happy they did. I met some friends for lunch; it was the first time they had been there. We all ended up with the chicken salad sandwich and we all loved it. Tracie was able to have the blue cheese swapped out for feta. The staff was very accommodating. I had the French onion soup with half a sandwich. The half looked like a whole sandwich and we all had leftovers to take home. I grabbed a slice of the zesty lemon 🍋 cake and a slice of blueberry cheesecake to take home. Both are delicious.
I highly recommend Batter Up Bistro. They now serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner and serve alcohol. I will definitely return!
This was my 2nd time here. I had a pick up order this time and the food was great! I highly recommend the veggie omelette, yum. Charlotte at the register was super nice and provided a warm welcoming. Will definitely dine here again.
Highly recommended. Food was great, atmosphere and decorating was on point. Eggs Benedict were fantastic. We were there on a Saturday morning. It was quite busy and therefore it took a bit longer to get our meals, but worth the wait.
Enjoyed my first visit here and tried what may be the best grilled cheese sandwich I've ever had! It had several cheeses as well as some light savory herbs. Served on the side were slices of radish and zucchini, plus some seasoned chips. The price is higher, at $12.00 but in my book, it was worth it.
Inside, the place is adorable, having a bit of a French bistro feel. Outside has a few nice, classy seating arrangements.
Service was friendly and mentioned that I should come back to try their breakfast and brunch. After taking a look at the menu, I certainly will! Can't wait to come back!
My fiancé and I have dined here a few times since their reopening, it’s always been a pleasure. We love the old fashioned atmosphere and decor. They have masterfully created cocktails and the food is top notch. The service is always very friendly. I highly recommend giving them a try, and since they are open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner with menus catered to each, they’ll be sure to please you any time of day.
What a really great addition to the downtown area. The first thing you notice walking in is the incredible interior decor. The place oozes cozy and welcoming. A great place to hang out comfortably with friends or clients.
The lunch menu is perfect. A delicious blend of not so typical yet comfortable sandwiches. And of course the pastries are "to die for." Try the scones or the quiche. And be sure to say hello to the delightful owner, Cari, and her highly competent staff!
