Great place to eat at. Food and service was super. You pay for what you get. And this was the best meal I have ever had in Las Vegas in 22 years. The decor was very cool and has a ton of history. Highly recommend
Filet Oscar Style (a special of the night) and the Prime Rib were absolutely the best steaks we had ever eaten-prepared perfectly rare. The service and atmosphere reminded me of the places my grandfather and then father would choose when they wanted only the best. We sat in Dean Martin's booth and felt transported back in time.
What an amazing experience! The food was great, the ambiance was incredible, and Carl, our server, was top notch!! He definitely pushed our visit from good to great! Golden Steer will be a new tradition for us!
This was one of the best meals I have ever eaten. The ambience and attentive staff were excellent. We enjoyed the escargot for a appetizer. Filet minion and twice baked potatoe and asparagus. For dessert the banana foster that was prepared tableside.
I try to live an up right life. Honestly this was the greatest meal I have ever had for a steak house. I truly give five stars for the fast service and hospitality was just awesome! I hope all people’s will one day be able to go and enjoy a wonderful meal. Truly a blessing for us!
Service is top notch, food is amazing, but most importantly, there is history in the room. Elvis Presley has a booth, as does Muhammad Ali and the Rat Pack. History is scarce in USA (by European standards) enjoy and feast.
Fabulous restaurant that offers deep Vegas history to go with the best food in town. You won’t be disappointed.
After spending so much time reading reviews, going back and fourth with my father, and exploring all the different options for my 21st Birthday Dinner; The Golden Steer was selected!!! It’s a tradition to go to an up scale restaurant when vacationing in Las Vegas. So many different places to choose from in such little time. There is always that worry about being disappointed with that one restaurant you choose take your family and friends out for dinning. Weather it may be the service, atmosphere or even the quality of the food served to you. Being completely honest, it’s because of all the choices you have to choose from and the amount of competition out in Fabulous Las Vegas. Allow me to start with the awesome historic atmosphere of The Golden Steer. This restaurant is a great piece of history in the city of Las Vegas. Not too many people are aware of this iconic establishment. Moving fourth with the service; EMPATHY, SATISFACTION, LISTEN, PATIENCE & CARING. 5 stars across the board. As for the quality of food, I must say the table side service for the Caesar Salad was phenomenal! By far the best Escargot I have ever had, sides were freshly prepared and the Steaks were cooked right on the spot as ordered, plenty of flavor (not over seasoned,) with a perfect charred crust. Overall, I will be visiting The Golden Steer again as I visit Las Vegas throughout the year. Highly Recommend this family establishment for the historic experience and customer service you wont get on the Strip!
Had the bone in prime rib, mashed potatoes, broccoli, bread rolls. Absolutely the best prime rib we have had from the East coast to Seattle to San Diego. Will return on our next visit to Las Vegas.
Best meal in a very long time. The rib eye was fantastic. The service was great. Don't let the location fool you. We had an awesome time. Old school steakhouse that delivers a great experience.
Pricey but you get your money worth. Outstanding service, great steak in a historical Las Vegas setting.
The best ribeye and baked potato at had in my 60 years, great service and atmosphere a little pricey but you get what you pay for
Love this place, great food, great servers overall had a great experience!!
The atmosphere is perfect and food is excellent. The service we received was also incredible. Definitely a must try.
I’ve lived in Vegas since 1985 and never knew this place was popular place to eat. My daughter who lives in DC took us there to celebrate her husband’s birthday and I was so impressed. Their Cesar salad is the bomb! Loved their prime ribs and king crab legs. Great wine selection and cocktails. Definitely, recommend!! Also, every staffs were so friendly and nice.
I underestimated how busy this place would be on a Tuesday night. Next time I'm definitely going to make a reservation.
That being said, my friend and I still found a place at the bar and had a fantastic meal.
Everything was fantastic! I highly recommend both the cheese bread and the twice baked potato.
My steak was cooked to perfection as well.
A great place to visit if you want a glimpse back into the glory days of Vegas but still want a top notch dining experience!
Ribeye was on point. King Crab was one of the better ones on the strip but not the best. Caesar salad was good but not as great as they claimed. Had better ones in Chicago. Tiramisu was good not amazing. Food was solid but I wouldn't say its worth the hassle of waiting extra 20 mins with a RSVP. Can get the same atmosphere in Chicago with better food. But overall, was a nice experience if you are looking for a different Vegas feel than fancy Steakhouses in the Casinos.
We had a party of 10 people and received excellent service. The lobster tail was huge! All the steaks were delicious and seasoned well. Table side salad prep was nice as well. Some of the sides were overcooked, but most were good. The escargot and oysters Rockefeller were great appetizers. The creme brulee gave us a foodgasim!! So delicious
A classic American steakhouse in the heart of Las Vegas. Incredible food and service in an old school Vegas atmosphere. The porterhouse steak was top notch. We got it Oscar style which was completely unnecessary but who cares it’s Vegas baby. The oysters Rockefeller were awesome but they were trumped by the escargot. Probably the best snails I’ve ever had in my life. Don’t be scared and give it a shot. For the side I highly recommend the creamy spinach, it was really tasty. The service was excellent. They took care of us really well and surprised my wife with a bday cheesecake. I expect nothing less in classy place like this in Las Vegas. I highly recommend this historic steakhouse for its food, service and atmosphere.
Dos thumbs up 👍👍
There’s really nothing to think twice about when booking this place.
To begin with, the staff are great and I truly had one of the best mango margaritas I’ve ever had.
The food is unreal, particularly, their famous caesar salad that is made fresh by your table.
Overall the experience is not one to miss - authentic environment and really amazing food.
The dinner sevice is superb! The ribeye steak is one of the best I have ever had. Cooked perfectly, tender, flavorful, and a fine crisp char finish that I will be chasing from here on out. The sides are wonderfully done to perfectly accent your prized dinner plate.
Servers were impeccable! The ambiance is everything you would expect of fine dining that holds to great traditions and quality of the Golden age of Las Vegas.
We absolutely loved it and cant wait to return .
Everyone has had a steak, macaroni and cheese, broccoli, etc, in their lifetime. The staples in life. At this restaurant, they have perfected it to the epitome of how these foods are prepared and served. I highly recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly. We had the escargot for the first time, and that was really good. My wife was never a big fan of lobster (she could take it or leave it), but now she knows what it really is supposed to taste like. The cocktails were also unique and very good.
If you are in Las Vegas and are on the fence about trying it out......
JUST DO IT!
(if you can get a reservation)
Original Vegas steakhouse frequented by the Rat Pack. Old fashioned decor and pictures of the stars. Some booths are named after who used them. Food was excellent, portions are generous, steak was all it should be, tasty perfectly cooked with a great crust. Mushroom, creamy potatoes and mac & cheese sides were all really delicious. Long wine list with reasonable choices by the glass. Service was good and attentive. All in all worth the trip away from the Strip.
The history of this place is very cool. Watching the guy make the homemade Caesar salad, also very interesting if you didn’t know how it’s made. It was tasty.
The rest of the food was good but not good enough for the price that it will cost you. It was just so-so. If you choose this place it will be for the history and the one time experience not that it has the best dishes in town.
Service 5 stars.
Love the atmosphere. That old Vegas feel. The history of the restaurant is everywhere. The waiter gave a small speech to our section talking about the history. The service was very good. The food was good but not GREAT. The seafood cold tower appetizer was well overpriced for what was included. I do wish we had not ordered this. The steak had good flavor but did have a bit more gristle than a higher end steak should have. The baked potato was big and loaded well. The Mac and cheese was good but not anything special. We had the "Golden Steer cappuccino" and cheesecake for dessert. Both were fine. There just wasn't a single item I would write home about. At a high end place like this, there should be something to truly fall in love with. I forgot, we also shared a wedge salad and it was very good. Love the ambiance, but would probably only return for a wedge salad and try the pasta next time.
I was super excited to try out this iconic place. They did not disappoint for the most part. The decor is amazing. The staff are incredible. They were super attentive to our requests and needs. We ended up having to walk to get here on time and they took care of us and did not rush us at all. The wine list is impressive as well as other cocktail options. We chose to do the steak and lobster deal for 2. We had wedge salads - all dressings are house made and delicious. We picked twice baked potatoes and broccoli as our sides. Very satisfying meal. The steak was a bit tough for my liking but it was cooked as requested- medium rare. We will definitely be back.
Love this place. Honestly, read all the other reviews. Enough has been said. Great food, great service, so come try it, you'll like it!
I haven't had everything on the menu but who cares - what I've had is excellent. Interesting Wedge Salad, fresh table side Caesar Salad, Streak cuts, and try the Chicken of the Angels!!! All mains come with side salad or the amazing Fried Raviolis with Red Sauce.
I am huge steak aficionado and love trips to Vegas. That being said oddly this was my first visit to the legendary classic Golden Steer. I had no idea how awesome it was. The history, the food, the service was all outstanding. Our waitperson Eric was amazing. I literally can't wait to come back next trip. Thanks, Eric, for making this a special top shelf evening!
If the red meat is not enough for you, then the Ceasars salad will be. Try the bananas foster for desert and a great cappuccino. The food and service are great for this old reminder of days gone by. This place is a national treasure. A must-see in Vegas.
The food was fantastic. The service was good, but it took forever to be seated. Even though we had a reservation!! The waiter kept forgetting my drink order. But he redeemed himself. Good experience. I would go back.
Sometimes restaurants with such rich history lose their quality and turn in to tourists traps. That is definitely NOT the case with the Golden Steer. If you’re in to old school classic steakhouse vibes, it really doesn’t get much better than this. My group ordered a variety of dishes including the Australian Jumbo Lobster, Filet, their famous Caesar Salad, Creamed Spinach and Oysters. The service was excellent and quality of the food really shined.
Amazing Vintage old-school Vegas style atmosphere. It felt like i was in a classic mob restaurant with Al Capone or one of the other infamous characters. Waited on by multiple waiters and Maître d. Extremely fresh and from scratch Ceasar salads made at your table, and flambe dessert too.
The options were limited, but you can tell it's been refined and crafted to be a spectacular meal over the years. Displayed outside the entrance is the restaurants established date, 1958, and memorabilia line the walls.
Reservations are mandatory because this place is always packed. the best time to book is at opening time.
It's not the best deal when it comes to size portions, but the food is cooked to perfection.
