I'm a Starbucks guy, and have been for a very long time. I'm writing this while sitting in my usual Starbucks. But when my pal Arles wants to have a social beverage, we go to Grouchy John's, his favorite place.
Grouchy John's is a happy place. In many ways, it's what Starbucks used to be, back in the good old days. They have things Starbucks no longer has, such as big comfy chairs, a relaxing atmosphere, and a traditional artsy coffee shop vibe. Starbucks, for reasons that make good sense to them, have gotten rid of all of that. Now they are more like an office cafeteria.
Grouchy John's embodies everything a coffee shop should. It feels like your neighborhood, not corporate headquarters. It gets my enthusiastic approval, even though their drinks have silly Star Wars names. Although, maybe not any more silly than "Venti."
First time at the shop and it's awesome. Friendly service, tons of places to sit, super cool decorations. And there are books and games to pass the time with! Def a cool neighborhood hangout. Plus a big area in the back for bigger groups.
I adore this coffee shop! Wonderful drinks, atmosphere, and staff! Go for the beverages and stay for the ambiance!
The best Carmel mocha I’ve ever had !!!! Every time I come into town I head straight here!!!
Best coffee shop in Vegas. You will geek out over the star wars memorabilia, art, and amazing drinks.
We ordered a mocha and a flat white & both of the drinks were excellent.
This place has a super fun vibe.
There are books and games and lots of tables to hang out at in two rooms.
The baristas are very nice.
Loved the decor as my brother's name is John & he is also grouchy and also shaved headed.
Loved the Deutschland sign too... We lived in Germany for 8 years.
There were several different spaces to chill and enjoy your drink, read one of the many books they have or enjoy the art work hanging everywhere.
The coffee was really good also. I was impressed this time.

Delicious coffee and swift service. The baristas are very friendly and patient (I am new to the menu and they were patient and supportive while I struggled with my choice--so many tasty sounding options!).
They have an awesome cafe set up and then there's a whole other space that reminds me of tabletop game stores--but without merchandise to purchase. There are plenty of tables, chairs, and plugs along the walls, and a bookshelf in the back near the additional bathrooms.
They showcase art from local artists and their menu reflects easter eggs for various story fandoms. Definitely a new favorite place to go to study as they do play music, but it's not so obnoxiously loud that I can hear my bone conduction earphones that I use with my laptop to study cohort videos.
This location also has a drive-thru.
On top of it all, it's one of the few cafes that give discounts for being a student, teacher, military, or first responder.
I often go here a lot to study (because they have stamp cards so I could use it to my advantage), and if people asked me why I go here, I say it’s because the staff are always sweet and caring lol. The only downside is I always have to ask for an extra shot of espresso for their lattes because it’s not that strong alone and they always go on the sweeter end. Guess that’s one way to make money. But other than that, artsy, at home-feel atmosphere.
Ok. I can never go wrong with grouchy johns. So we went to another coffee shop to try it out. I was not fond with the drinks. Came to John's so I can fix my drink. Mission accomplished. Plus Amanda and I got food. Amazing. Love and respect to everyone at grouchy John's. By the way I did not take a picture of my wife Sandwich because she finished it before I had a chance.
Back in Vegas and my first stop was at Grouchy Johns for a Yoda (spinach/kale/pineapple/strawberry/mango) plus I add a banana, wow... So darn good! The start is always friendly and the muffins look amazing!

There's nothing grouchy about this place, the staff are kind and truly dedicated to serving others in what feels like a home setting. The coffee is reasonably priced and so are the treats, you really can't beat a place like this. It's definitely the opposite of a Starbucks and speaking of bucks, you'll save quite a bit overall here.
My experience there was happier than old John might like to know about. LOL but it truly was a good one and that's why I'm writing this review. Stop in sometime, you won't be disappointed.
Love the vibe. The service is great as well. I didn’t enjoy the coffee though. You might if you like really sweet coffee, which I didn’t get. I just ordered black coffee, and it tasted like something I can get from my Keurig at home. Not bad, mind you, but not next level. Would return there with friends who like sweet coffee, and for their breakfast tacos.
Went here for the first time in a long time after someone had told us their kitchen wasn’t open after a certain time, but to my surprise their kitchen is actually 24 hrs also!
The chicks that were working on Saturday around 2am were absolutely wonderful and thorough when taking the order! Everything tasted great, will definitely be back again.
Their warm bread pudding is my favorite!
I always like to support small businesses and finding Grouchy Johns was spectacular! Located in Henderson Nevada they have the best Nitro, I usually need some flavor or sugar but theirs is so smooth and fresh theres no need. If you want a local coffee place do yourself a favor and visit Grouchy Johns.
It's always a pleasure. I love going here. I wish it was closer to my side of Henderson, but maybe in time. Great food, conversation with random guests, and of course the service.

Very cool coffee shop!!!
Best place to get good coffee and snacks and feel relaxed while enjoying the great ambiance.
Great coffee and service. The staff is super friendly and helpful, very nice and welcoming.
The coffee that is served there is made locally and their flavors are unbeatable.
They have a reading corner lots of books to choose, piano corner, board games, great seats to feel relaxed and enjoy your coffee!
They also have drive-thru and outside seating .
They also use a punch card to earn a free coffee.
We will be back for sure and highly recommend it!!!
This place is pretty unique! I had a pretty tasty pumpkin doughnut and a dirty chai. This place looks very chill, has lots of room to hangout, study or do work.
Walking in reminds me of simpler times. Back in my college days there was a cafe I used to go, just to read books and comics and they have a huge collection, it was amazing!. People would take tiny sips between pages because they were engrossed on what their reading. No cellphones, just books, comic books and newspaper. This cafe made it nostalgic. the signature coffee was a wee bit too sweet for me but the pastries were good this shop is a good place to take your time between sips and look over their collection of paintings and books. Just enjoy drinking coffee and it's atmosphere.
The best! Morgan has amazing customer service. Shes incredible! And the tea was delicious
Super recommend this place.
A- must whenever I’m in Vegas! Best place to get good coffee and snacks and feel relaxed while enjoying the great ambiance. They have two rooms, the second biggest is cozy and classic. They have a reading corner lots of books to choose, piano corner, board games, great seats to feel relaxed and enjoy your coffee!
The smoothies are super delicious and my favourite bagels are just the best!
It’s always worth to visit to come and sit down and enjoy good coffee and relax!
Super great place to hang and work and chat and play. This is what you want a comfy playful cafe to be like. Cozy seats. Kind people. It's just super easygoing and lots of people are either typing with headphones on or sitting in groups and playing and laughing. I wish it was next to my house, I'd go every day.
