This place needs a upgrade for sure and not the most pleasant neighborhood, But the food was amazing and the burger was out of this world! I don't know why it was not busier. Even though its listed as a tavern it has a restaurant up front. The burgers are so big, The single effiie is over a pound of fresh ground beef and bigger than a dinner plate. Bring your hunger......

We took my dad who is almost 90 to Effie’s today and I just wanted to give a huge shout out to our server. She was very prompt with our order, got all the little extras we needed and is just a down right a very good person. Oh and the food was extra yummy today. Thank you for going the extra mile for us today. We really appreciate it.
Great burgers for a very affordable price! I remember going here when I was younger and the place hasn't changed a bit...small and quaint with fantastic food!
They may not have a huge menu but they have huge burgers with home made buns. Great tasting food cooked by great people. Everything on the menu is delicious.
I make a trip from Post Falls to Lewiston at least once a year and stopping at Effie's is always an absolute must. Friendly staff, and very welcoming. Feels like a place you grew up going to. Food is incredible and the Effie Burger is always impressive both in size and in flavor.
I have been going to Effies sense I was a kid. fresh ingredients and a bargain price for a huge hamburger. You never been to lewiston, Idaho till you have eaten an Effie burger. Always a great time and great service!
Love going to effies they have the best burgers and the service is good and fast I would recommend it to anyone.
Great food, great service and a nice pool table to pass the time!
Great Burger!!!!! Great staff!!!! After the car show great place to end up
We call and order food to go frequently and I have never had such a friendly, nice and awesome experience as I had tonight calling Effie's and speaking with Eric. :) The food is amazing and it's a great value. They say the burger is one pound but man! You feel the box and it's heavier than that! The fries are amazing! All around 5 star. :) (Coffee, milk, tomato juice, hot chocolate, tea, OJ, pop, Beer only, btw.)
Loved this burger!. This is a dive...a fantastic...delicious....surprising dive restaurant! The hamburgers were perfectly cooked, huge, mouthwatering delights! By far my favorite hamburger ever...I wish I didn't live 6 hours away:(
I'm vegetarian and even I like this place..."veggie burger" is just the bun with the condiments, but the atmosphere more than makes up for it :)
Great Burgers. My friends and I were returning from a white water rafting trip and were very hungry by the time we arrived at Effie's. There was only one other occupied table in the restaurant plus there were a few other patrons in the bar over on the other side at that time. One of our group had to use the restroom and reported that the older and only waitress snarled at him when he asked where it was. It was another 18 minutes before she took our order.
The burgers are gigantic and so all of us split a burger or ordered a half burger. I will have to say that, despite the 45 minute wait, they were worth waiting for and so delicious! The crinkle-cut fries came to us all gluey and weird looking. Our waitress apologized and said that she would give them to us for free because something was wrong with them. I didn't bother tasting them but wondered why she would serve them if they were not edible. All in all, if you prepare yourself for the wait and grumpiness of an overworked senior citizen, it is well worth your time.
Awesome burger. Burgers cooked to perfection mmmmmmm
Awesome. We made a straight shot for Effie's upon getting back to our car after a 60 mile backpack trip. This being my first time to Effie's, I didn't realize what I was getting myself into by ordering a double cheese burger and two pints. Somehow I polished off the whole lot of it and promptly felt like taking a nap. The next time I'm in town, I'll definitely stop in again. Besides being HUGE, the burger was delicious. The service is interesting, but it adds to the experience. I felt like I had taken a trip back to the early 80's. Bottom Line: A trip worth taking.
Best Burger ,Fries & Onion Rings. Dont ever pass the chance to go here!! Biggest Burger ,French fries & onion rings youll ever see.Served on a Platter for each ordered!! Beers are =COLD!! I live 2 hours north of here and make the trip just to come here 1 time a year!! Wish I was closer!! Only people that dont love this place are the damn Yuppies & people that insist being catered to.Locals go Here!! Dont Miss IT!!
AWESOME!!!. Not sure what the negative review was all about, but the older lady is Connie and she runs the place. At time the place is packed and if you have to wait for a bit...so be it.
The burgers are the best and my wife and I eat there all the time. We split a cheese burger and fry and you don't want or need anything else after that. Definitely the best burgers you'll ever eat. A ++++
Yum!. Huge burgers, haha. Love it. Very small place. My grandmother's name is Effie, and I love this place!
What a burger. Managed to get a table as the place was busy. Well worth the wait. Burgers are cooked throughout and are awesome.
Couldnt have a better burger.. Me and my dad go there as much as possible. we can order one burger and both be more than staisfied.
Huge burger, huge taste...good stuff
Get the Effie Burger. Humongous burger could feed 2-3 depending on the appetite. Guaranteed heart attack if you add the greasy fries. Has been there forever, and for good reason. Check it out.
Giant burgers and fries. A Lewiston icon.
I have been wanting to go here for quite some time now and I have to tell you I am soooo glad that I did. I loved the experience. The burgers were so big, the buns were homemade. Gordon Ramsey if your out there and your reading this, you need to try these burgers. Best burgers in town. All fresh. It is weighed out at a pound of meat for a full burger and 1/2 pound for the Effie Jr.'s.
Happened upon Effie's while exploring the area and decided to drop in. Normally when I see large burgers like this, they are "fun".
This burger was a classic "diner" style, well seasoned, good sear, toasted bun etc. Now you just have to scale that normal comment to 2 - 1 pound patties and probably 12" bun that you can cut in quarters and share. If anyone is comparing burgers this size. This one beats the Meers Longhorn Burger in OK hands down.
So novelty you can actually enjoy, in a neat little place, with friendly folk.
Burger was huge and very good. The wife and I split the burger and still could only eat half of it. Place was clean and friendly staff. We will go there again.
Delicious burgers! Bring a friend, because their burgers are huge! The restaurant is small and outdated, very nostalgic. The atmosphere gives a small town, close knit feeling. If you ever visited or lived in a small community (like I have) you’ll know what I’m talking about. Each time I’ve gone there the waitstaff is always friendly making sure our needs are met. Oh, did I mention the food is delish? Yes- go try it!
I first visited Effie's in the early 90's, not a whole lot has changed. The burgers are gigantic, the sides, they have scaled back on volume it seems. It's a fun place if you want a massive burger. I thought it was a little dirty, food on the floor, food in the cushions of the booth but it is what it is.
Huge burgers. The burgers were great, but my chicken strip were overcooked. Overall great service and nice place.
Burgers big enough to share! Very relaxed atmosphere. Picture of burger is after we took out 2 1/4pieces!
