It's Maine and it's summertime and you want an off- the- market flavor? How about lemon custard? Apple crisp? Maybe ginger? And there are plenty more.
Ordered the brownie sundae with lemon custard, and can I tell you: I'm a big stickler for if it's not broken don't fix it. If I like this menu item, I'm getting only that. But the lemon custard was the perfect lemony, not sickly sweet combo with the sorta fudgy, thinner brownies that added a dark, rich uplift to the lemon.
Oh and the whip cream, peanuts and hot fudge toppings were perfection together.
100% recommend this place.
Oh and the brownie sundae is a lovely almost $8. But, you get the Mainer's serving size.

Some of the best ice cream I’ve had. Homemade waffle cones are fantastic as well, second to none. Older reviews mention they are cash only but they now accept credit/debit cards. Highly recommend stopping by to try some of their delicious home made flavors or even going out of your way to do so.
Delicious ice cream. This is a small ice cream factory, it has a couple of tables for small if you like to eat the ice cream there. They have a lot of variety in their options. They make a 4-Chocolate ice cream! Just Delicious. Don't hesitate to stop if you are traveling between Augusta and the costal roads.
Well worth the 30 minute drive. The ginger ice cream and homemade waffle bowls are dynamite.

John's Ice Cream is a tradition! Don't go by without stopping! I highly recommend the chocolate strawberry or raspberry! I usually yell out, "Did you miss me?" Now last year a pint was a better value than 3 scoops! Don't you know Yankees are a thrifty lot!
Loved this place and would defiantly visit again. The ice cream melted in my mouth as I took a bite full of flavours. This is some good homemade ice cream! Cindy had "after dinner mint" and I had a dish of strawberry and banana. The flavors were spot on...even our grand daughter's vanilla was amazing. Highly recommend!!

The Banana tastes like Banana's not Banana taffy and its not bright yellow.
The strawberry rhubarb tastes like strawberries and rhubarb go figure, perfect amount of sugar It is so deliciously tart.
My sons a little less adventurous said that the cookies and cream was very good. And he doesn't usually admit that he likes anything. If you read this and don't try the ice Cream you won't ever know what your missing
