Phenomenal evening! Our server, Melissa, was one of the best and funniest waitresses I have ever had at any restaurant. The oldest restaurant in Broward county did not disappoint. Nice little boat ride to the restaurant. Excellent food.
What an experience eating here! I have been recommending this place to everyone who asked. First, you have to get on a shuttle boat to get to the restaurant, which is a quaint and rustic place. It is such a classic establishment. We like every food we tried here but the key lime pie is really something to highlight. It’s not too sweet and not too sour. It’s just right.
Awesome place! The place is full of history with delicious food! The bar area is so very cool with a fab view of the intercostal! A little boat ride over brings you back in time. We ordered apps and drinks and at as yes I the bar area. Parking is limited d St o get there early and enjoy!
Went here on a Saturday night to celebrate a friend's birthday. The service was amazing and the good was great!!! The waitress told us the history of the restaurant and she was just amazing. The prices are a little high, but worth it. You have to park in a parking area away from the restaurant and take a boat to get there, which makes for an even better experience.
Very cool experience, excellent food, and phenomenal server (Melissa)!
Was a great night out.
Amazing ambiance, quaint water taxi and real, old-world feel! And some of the best seafood in South Florida!!
We came for a birthday and left with amazing memories and an awesome experience.
The food - particularly the Broiled Seafood Platter and the (ridiculous!) Maryland Crabcakes were especially delicious.
The bartender was charming and she makes a great martini.
Mike, our server, was kind and informative - he took great care of our party and made thoughtful recommendations as well.
And all that at an incredible value, too!
We’ll definitely be back!!
Had a good seafood dinner here the other night. The grouper and scallops were very fresh and tasty. Service was good and the prices were not too bad. It is a good fun experience with the boat ride to and from the restaurant. In years past the boat captain would tell the history of the place but this guy did not. The resteraunt itself looks rough but it adds to the mystery and history of the place. Nice for a change and to entertain out of town guests.
Wonderful place! Had the crab cakes and the snapper. Crab cakes were almost $40, not sure about the snapper. It tasted delicious. The snapper was wonderful as well.
The history of the place is outstanding and interesting.
The waitress was great at explaining the history and giving a tour of the place.
The boat driver was very friendly.
A bit on the pricier side, but in my opinion it’s worth it.
You should give it a try and decide for yourself.
It should be noted that this was my first time here and I cannot attest to any others dishes as I have not tried them.
The best place in pompano for a great dinner with boat experience. Family owned and has such an awesome history. All of there’re food has been fantastic and fresh. We’ve been going for over 10 years. The waiters and waitresses are super nice and they know the whole story. so ask them about the history there. Food is phenomenal five stars all the way. The boat ride is a great touch.
Only thing I would say is make early reservations or plan to wait for parking as their parking lot is very very small and tight. Depends on the month. And the boat driver questionable as far as being polite.
We are walking up to the boat. he saw us and still unwrapped and left us. so we had to wait another 15 minutes. He does need to work on his manners. But that won’t stop us from going at all.
We came here by boat. You can dock it on the side of their dock. The grilled mahi was super fresh. My bf ordered the snapper with lemon and butter garlic sauce and it was good as well. The palm salad is a must have. And the key lime pie was the best I ever had. I really enjoyed my experience here in this historical restaurant. Benita is a very knowledgeable waitress and gave us some great info on the historical facts!
FANTASIC RESTURANT!
I know there are a lot of negative reviews of this restaurant but we had a wonderful experience! We had 6 people and were celebrating an anniversary. We made a reservation and I do highly suggest making a reservation for any size group. Our waitress, Melissa, took excellent care of us. She gave us the history of the location, catered to any of our requests, and was generally a wonderful person! She offered to take several pictures of our group and went above and beyond for us. She also gave us the story of how Tali, the owner acquires the hearts of palm locally. We all tried the Heart of Palm Salad and were all impressed! It was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Each person’s meals were prepared excellently and tasted amazing! The boat ride to and from the parking lot was not very long but was enjoyable. The captain made a few jokes and had us smiling the whole way. He was very skilled and smooth on the water. Cap’s Place may not be the most up to date restaurant but is absolutely a 5 star location and worth a visit!
Service was awesome thanks to Melissa!!! You made our night 5 stars. The food was great except a couple things fell just a little short so that's why I'm rating overall 4 stars. Gonna be honest! The crab cakes were awesome as were our entrees steak and stuffed lobster. Amazing! The sides were ok and the fish dip fair. Key lime pie was a little grannie in texture but taste was good. My mom used to make it just like that but it's not my favorite keylime pie. Hearts of palm salad was great! Overall wonderful experience thanks to Melissa taking care of us and hats off to the chef on amazing entrees and crab cakes. Definately will go back but next time I know what to save my appetite for. This was a dinner for our 22 anniversary and we were pleased.
Romantic boat ride to the restaurant. Cap's Place is historic but can use some upgrades. Overall decent restaurant for dates. Crab Cakes are top tier.
We showed up at opening and we’re treated really well by Robert, who took good care of us.
We ordered blackened Mahi Mahi and the seafood mix, which includes scallops, shrimp and snapper. It was delicious with veggies and mashed sweet potato as sides.
The fact that the restaurant is in an upscale neighborhood does take away from the individuality somewhat, but the experience is worth going for, as you take a boat over to the restaurant and the building is really old & authentic. Worth it!
Very cool restaurant and bar. The seafood was delicious and fresh. The high prices don't match the decor and service but the servers were very friendly. You gotta get there by boat, which they provide. They said it's the oldest restaurant in Broward at 89 years old. Cool old style vibe, all wood.
