Loco moco 8/10 great drunk food. Pancit 8.5/10 was great texture and flavour
Wow wow wow! This place is such a hidden gem tucked inside a food court.
Came here at 9am before we catch a plane back to CA. There wasn’t any lines, and I was shocked given long lines at other places.
Oba-chan was sitting down, and stood up to greet us with such warm, and told us her Loco Moco & Hawaiian plate are the best in town — so we’re super excited to give them a try after checking out the consistent glowing reviews on here & Yelp.
Let me tell you… THESE TWO plates did not disappoint AT ALL.
First of all, I’m a stickler on rice — I’ve been on the island for ~6 days, and many places we stopped by have overcooked rice eg spam musubi, poke bowls, etc. but THIS place has PERFECT AL DENTE RICE. I teared up a little inside 🥲🤤🥹 in happiness.
Then let’s talk about the Hawaiian plate - they’re big portion. What a value! It tasted and looked like home cooked meals, and the pork was so tender and juicy — seasoned perfectly!
Lastly, the loco moco… my husband is a picky eater and he said it was one of the better Loco Moco plates he’s eaten on the island! Eggs was also oozing with perfect golden yolk 😋
In any case, this place deserves more recognition and I can assure you… worth the stop!
I rarely give 5 stars these days, but these guys earned it. We were going to get another set to go, but sadly we were on our way to other places and didn't want it left in the car.
Ngl the pictures and presentation of the food had me anticipating disappointment, but eating with eys generally leads to disappointment anyway.
The gravy on the #11 sweet and sour pork was THE most flavorful gravy I've ever tasted.
The pork in the leaf was boisterous with flavor.
And I wasn't adventurous enough to order Pancit, but my sis did and it's a little lighter than Ramen, but more balanced in flavor.
Warm welcome, prompt serve. Large portions. I got the Fried rice breakfast, eggs over easy.. it came with two meat choices. I picked bacon for both. Also ordered her famous pancakes. I've come to Oki Diner over the years for these pancakes since high-school. Twenty plus years later they're still the best! Be sure to buy some coconut syrup or Japanese pretzels to take home 😋 Mahalo for a great breakfast 😘
I had the chicken katsu smaller size, was pretty good and came with like mayo noodles side, also good.
I wished that the katsu came with a different sauce and not just ketchup. It kind of wasn't my fave for this meal.
Lady was very nice and gave recommendations.
On my last day in Kauai, I decided to make this my final food spot. I wasn’t disappointed at all! Everything was so delicious that was recommended. The owner took the time to point out in detail what was considered Hawaiian dishes and what we should try. I’m glad I listened. Especially when she said the Hawaiian plate. It literally melted in your mouth. Out of all the places I ate on my trip, this was the most reasonably costed for taste, food, and portions.
If I find my way back, she’ll definitely get my business again
We barely made it to a shopping place nearby before they closed, and by the time we got out, we were hungry. We looked at the menu at Oki’s and we’re tempted by exotic looking choices. We ask the proprietor for recommendations. The proprietor recommended the Neal’s chicken and loco moco. We would have never guessed that this unimposing tiny food court diner would be hiding five star food. The proprietor was so kind! He not only recommended excellent choices for our food tastes and dietary restrictions, he unexpectedly brought the food to us, much faster than we would have thought possible for such delicious food!
I knocked off one star on atmosphere, because I think there were two tables that would fit inside that storefront, but there was so much dining in the open court area of the food court but that really wasn’t much of a negative.
I don’t know what other drink options might have been good, but after looking at them we chose the bottled water. They offered one dessert: either strawberry or orange sherbet. The orange was delicious, like an orange Creamsicle. However, it has been frozen so long that it had developed that icy feel that over-frozen ice cream has. It was still delicious, but not the expected texture for sherbet. Overall still a five-star meal. I can’t recommend highly enough.
Oh, why is it called box lunches? Each meal will be delivered to you as if you had ordered a restaurant to put it its meal in a to go box.
I ordered the fried noddles they qere exceptional. Best ivw had in a long time. i highly recommend this restauraunt. The owner was friendly and the prices were very reasonable. I would highly recommwnd ordering lunch or dinner here. even theor breakfast options looks amazing. i dont think any of their dishes I would avoid as they make amazing food!
Very solid big breakfast spot. Outdoor eating with generous portions. Great quality food. Bacon, Portuguese sausage and sausage links were so good. My new favorite homestyle breakfast option.
Heading out to go home back to Minnesota, and running out of options of something new. Took a chance and went back in the mall laugh but I found this gem!! You are greated by a 84yr old manning the counter gave me in detail the high lights off the menu. I will suggest since I got it #1 Neil’s Famous Chicken WOW!!! Enough said
