Gone a few times now and had breakfast and lunch. Great food great Service good price’s and a clean atmosphere!
Great place for a great meal! I highly recommend it!
Do yourself a favor. Try the Turkey Bacon Melt! Great soups too.
Amazing! So delicious! Great Service! And I love their coffee! And only $4 - $6 for most of the meals! Absolutely perfect!
Great breakfast and great service from Ciara. Enjoy going there on weekends
A great place and great food at reasonable prices the added benefit Jr is a real good dude a hard-working man
best deals around, awesome steak and eggs breakfast all at a good price and endless coffee with your meals . two thumbs up !!!!!!
The food, the staff, the family style environment, and Jr is a great guy!
Good food. Good time. Good friends. Very well priced.
Amazingly good and inexpensive breakfast that is served all day. We will definitely be back. But it's totally a little local greasy spoon - so don't expect the Walnut Room or anything like that. Also they add 50 cents to all credit card transactions instead of just building that as a buffer into the prices. Not sure why they do that.
Great food and very reasonably priced. It also has a great atmosphere!
Sooooooo good. Great food. Good atmosphere and a very friendly staff.
Amazing food and great service. Definitely has the old cozy diner feel!
Cheap, delicious homemade breakfast made by JR himself. Server was cheerful and welcoming. A few regulars it appeared as mostly everyone was welcomed by name. Will be back.

Old style bowling place take diner look. Loved our waitress and her attentiveness to our table. She was the cutest! It’s a great place to take the fam.
Honest food cooked by a pro at the grill, JR himself, served by caring and attentive servers and priced as fair as fair can be. For a down-home experience, give JR's a try.
Excellent service, great food! Super casual small diner restaurant with an attached bowling alley. Easy to get to off the main drag with a big parking lot. My breakfast was served promptly and hot. Very filling and excellent portion sizes. Good coffee as expected, with the server topping off cheerfully every now and then. She was super attentive, patient, and friendly. Very homey and familiar vibes with all the retro by-gone Chicago sports decor posted up or displayed on shelves. Several diners appeared to be regulars as they greeted both the cooks and server warmly. This is not your typical over the top, crowded, American breakfast chain restaurant with all that hustle-bustle chaos- and I'm glad to say that is exactly what gives it its charm. There are only a few places like this around! If you want a good breakfast with a hot cup of coffee in peace and quiet, this is one of those spots.
Burger was fantastic. Was in town for work, didn’t know the area and this was the first place to pop up and glad it did. If you need a grunge, dive spot with great food, this is it.
People may drive past JR's place and never realize that it's not just a bowling alley but there is a restaurant here too. Those people are missing out on a great breakfast at a great price! I ordered the biscuits and gravy and was very impressed. The biscuits were good but the eggs and the gravy were great! I asked for over medium eggs and they got it spot on! So few places make good eggs anymore. I will be back for another amazing breakfast! Thank you.
I 99% have biscuits and gravy when I go out to eat.
This is the place!
So much so that they will run out of gravy, every weekend.
The wait staff is sweet.
It is a diner, don't come in expecting sparkling water and gluten free.
Although they may.....
Nicole was our waitress. Let me tell you why this place is good. Here breakfast is still affordable! Portions were big, wife's sandwich was scrumptious, and the kicker is there's a full-blown bowling alley right through the wall. Get your drink on get your food on get your bowling on. Or you can pay twice as much for a foofy breakfast that will do the same job. We would definitely recommend this place it might be the last affordable place left on Earth!
A diner in a bowling alley. We've been coming here for years. Affordable and friendly staff. The breaded tenderloin sandwich is the best anywhere. So is the gravy on biscuits and chicken fried chicken.
Always a great breakfast. Super food and service at a great price. One of our favorite places
This place is great. Relaxing and friendly atmosphere, attentive staff, and good, home cooked food, at great prices. It's not a fancy restaurant or the best food you've ever had, but it hits all the marks of a really great diner. Highly recommended!
This is seriously one of the best kept secrets in Chicago. Every time I come from Houston to visit my granddaughter, I eat or carry out something from the extremely varied menu. This is not just your typical bowling alley burger joint!! It's home cooking at its best! Everything is freshly made by the friendly owner and the wait staff is super nice and very accommodating. When you eat there you aren't even aware you're in a bowling alley... it's completely separate. Every restaurant in the city could take s lesson from this place.
We love going to JR's Place. Its a small restaurant in Lisle Bowling alley. The food is good and feels like a homemade meal. Best of all the prices cant be beat! The staff is very friendly. Service can be a little slow as most times there is only one waitress on staff and one cook. But it is worth it! It reminds me of a diner you would stop at on a road trip. They also serve breakfast and lunch/dinner. Its hard to find restaurants in the area that still do this. We have been here about 10 times so far and will continue to keep going.
Not sure how I overlooked leaving a review. I've checked in at JR's 44 times on Yelp. I love this old school diner. They were formerly on Belmont in Downers Grove and moved in February of this year. I too moved and was saddened they changed their hours, and it's been a while since I visited last. The drive isn't too bad from Aurora and the owner always is there before 8am and has coffee ready.
The owner and server Jenny are the greatest. I plan to make this one of my go-to spots again. I love to shop small and support an old school diner.
Love the specialty omelets... the farmer's is my favorite, as the potatoes are mixed into the filling, just like I make at home. They're located in the Lisle Lanes, so you can usually catch a game on the alley too.
Ordered the burger and fries.they have quarter and half pounders. Saw someone with pizza and it was loaded with cheese and sausage. Should of gotten the pizza.
One of my all time favorite restaurants. Reasonably priced, delicious breakfast items and burgers.
Comfy environment, avoids the pitfalls of most modern eateries. Quiet atmosphere and sensible design make it a fantastic place for a social outing.
Try their largest burger topped with an omelette of your choice. It will blow you away!
This was a delightful little diner that I recall as a child type of atmosphere, basic menu, incredibly inexpensive the rib eye sandwiches are to die for, and the service is really good I recommend it to anybody that would want to grab lunch or just have an inexpensive outing with friends!
