Enjoyed an excursion to one of the oldest BBQ pits in Texas. Excellent brisket, ribs, chicken, and sausage. Helpful attendants that made us feel like family. The old school cash or check only and downtown set up left our family walking out satisfied and hoping to come back again.

Lives up to the hype. Better than Black's BBQ imo. Friendly staff and they accomodated us bringing our dog in as we were traveling from Fort Worth to Corpus Christi. We sat in the back on some picnic tables and it was just fine. The Turkey is excellent. The Brisket was a little dry but great flavor. Ask for it wet. The spicy sausage was great as well. My least favorite side were the beans. Everything else was good.

A group of fellow Truck enthusiast had a meet here last Sunday. The food was fantastic! As you can see in the photo I posted there was nothing left of the turkey, sausage, brisket, or macaroni and cheese when I was finished; just a plastic tray of destruction. I would eat here twice a week of I lived nearby! Remember to bring cash because they don't take cards and don't forget to wash your hands because they don't have forks here so you'll be eating like a cave "person" lol PARKING: There's plenty of it. Even when me and my Toyota friends decide we want some awesome BBQ!

Brisket is perfect just the right amount of fat , meat and base. Mac and cheese was good. Ribs were great, pork chops were good and the sausage was okay.

Stopped in by recommendation from a friend. Got brisket and pork chop. Both were excellent, the chop tender and juicy and the brisket flavorful. The bbq sauce wasn’t that good though, I’ve had better from a bottle. Also had potato salad which was quit tasty. There were no forks, just spoons and knives so ended up eating with our hands. Sitting was nice in this old building, lots of history. All in all, pretty good!

Eating at Smitty's was a great experience! They didn't have the best of everything, but overall it was one of my favorite BBQ joints. The pits are incredible, the whole place smells like burning wood, the building is historic and spacious. My wife and I shared sausage, brisket, pork chop, and pork ribs. The sausage is one of the best I have ever had! Great flavor, texture, at a good price. The pork ribs were fabulous! Again, one of the best I have ever had. I ordered my brisket moist, with and end. It tasted good but it was a bit tough, and not very moist. I have had better from Rudy's. The pork chop was good, but not as smoky as the one I had at Kreuz's. Good sides (slaw, beans, and Mac and cheese) but not outstanding. Good prices, great service, awesome environment. It's true that you eat off butcher paper and there are no forks. Also, sodas come in cans or bottles (no refills). I will definitely return, but will double up on sausage and whether I skip the brisket will be a "game-time decision".

The best BBQ. The smoke ring was perfect. The meat melted in your mouth. The coleslaw and beans are excellent. The staff was marvelous
